26In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge. 27The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. 28In the multitude of people is the king’s honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince. 29He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.14.29 hasty…: Heb. short of spirit 30A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones. 31He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor. 32The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death. 33Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known. 34Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.14.34 to any…: Heb. to nations 35The king’s favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.
1La mujer sabia edifica su casa;
la necia, con sus manos la destruye.
2El que va por buen camino teme al Señor;
el que va por malos caminos lo desprecia.
3De la boca del necio brota arrogancia;
los labios del sabio son su propia protección.
4Donde no hay bueyes el granero está vacío;
con la fuerza del buey aumenta la cosecha.
5El testigo veraz jamás miente;
el testigo falso propaga mentiras.
6El insolente busca sabiduría y no la halla;
para el entendido, el conocimiento es cosa fácil.
7Mantente a distancia del necio,
pues en sus labios no hallarás conocimiento.
8La sabiduría del prudente es discernir sus caminos,
pero al necio lo engaña su propia necedad.
9Los necios hacen mofa de sus propias faltas,
pero entre los íntegros hay buena voluntad.
10Cada corazón conoce sus propias amarguras,
y ningún extraño comparte su alegría.
11La casa del malvado será destruida,
pero la morada del justo prosperará.
12Hay un camino que al hombre le parece recto,
pero acaba por ser camino de muerte.
13Hasta de reírse duele el corazón
y hay alegrías que acaban en tristezas.
14El inconstante recibirá todo el pago de su inconstancia;
el hombre bueno, el premio de sus acciones.
15El inexperto cree todo lo que le dicen;
el prudente se fija por dónde va.
16El sabio teme al Señor y se aparta del mal,
pero el necio es arrogante y se pasa de confiado.
17El iracundo actúa neciamente
y el malvado es odiado.
18Herencia de los inexpertos es la necedad;
corona de los prudentes, el conocimiento.
19Los malvados se postrarán ante los buenos;
los impíos, ante las puertas de los justos.
20Al pobre hasta sus amigos lo aborrecen,
pero son muchos los que aman al rico.
21Es un pecado despreciar al prójimo;
¡dichoso el que se compadece de los pobres!
22Pierden el camino los que planean el mal,
pero hallan amor y verdad los que hacen el bien.
23Todo esfuerzo tiene su recompensa,
pero quedarse en las palabras solamente, lleva a la pobreza.
24La corona del sabio es su riqueza;
la de los necios, su necedad.
25El testigo veraz salva vidas,
pero el testigo falso miente.
26El temor del Señor es un baluarte seguro
que sirve de refugio a los hijos.
27El temor del Señor es fuente de vida
y libera de los lazos de la muerte.
28Gloria del rey es gobernar a una gran población;
un príncipe sin súbditos está arruinado.
29El que es paciente muestra gran inteligencia;
el que es agresivo muestra mucha insensatez.
30El corazón tranquilo da vida al cuerpo,
pero la envidia carcome los huesos.
31El que oprime al pobre ofende a su Creador,
pero honra a Dios quien se apiada del necesitado.
32El malvado cae por su propia maldad;
el justo, aun en su muerte, halla refugio en Dios.14:32 en Dios; en su propia piedad (LXX y Siríaca).
33En el corazón de los entendidos mora la sabiduría,

34La justicia enaltece a una nación,
pero el pecado deshonra a todos los pueblos.
35El rey favorece al siervo inteligente,
pero descarga su ira sobre el sinvergüenza.
