а глумливый упрёков не слушает.
2Человек пожинает хороший плод сказанных им речей,
а коварные тяготеют к жестокости.
3Стерегущий уста хранит свою жизнь,
а говорящий опрометчиво себя погубит.
4Лентяй желает и ничего не получает,
а желания усердного исполняются до конца.
5Праведные ненавидят ложь,
а неправедные приносят срам и бесчестие.
6Праведность хранит тех, чей путь непорочен,
а нечестие губит грешника.
7Один притворяется богатым, но ничего не имеет;
другой притворяется бедным, будучи очень богат.
8Богатством можно выкупить жизнь человека,
а бедняку и не угрожает никто.
9Жизнь праведных, как весело горящий свет,
а жизнь нечестивых, как гаснущий светильник.
10Высокомерие только рождает ссоры,
а мудрость – у тех, кто внимает советам.
11Тает богатство, что быстро нажито13:11 Или: «нажито от суеты»; или: «мошеннически нажито».,
а копящий мало-помалу накопит много.
12Не сбывающаяся надежда томит сердце,
а сбывшееся желание – дерево жизни.
13Презирающий наставление сам себе вредит,
а чтущий повеление будет вознаграждён.
14Учение мудрых – источник жизни,
отводящий от сетей смерти.
15Здравый разум вызывает расположение,
а путь вероломных суров13:15 Или: «не долговечен»..
16Всякий разумный поступает со знанием,
а глупец выказывает свою дурость.
17Ненадёжный гонец попадает в беду,
а верный вестник приносит исцеление.
18Бедность и стыд пренебрегающему наставлением,
а внимающего упрёку почтят.
19Сладко душе сбывшееся желание,
а глупцам противно от зла отвернуться.
20Кто общается с мудрыми, сам станет мудр,
а спутник глупцов попадёт в беду.
21Несчастье преследует грешника,
а благополучие – награда для праведных.
22Добрый человек оставит наследство даже внукам своим,
а богатство грешных копится для праведных.
23Много хлеба может дать и поле бедняка,
но несправедливость отнимает у него урожай.
24Жалеющий розгу не любит своего сына,
а кто любит, прилежно его наказывает.
25Праведный досыта будет есть,
а нечестивый – ходить голодным.
