1Now it came to pass, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;) 2That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief. 3And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you? 4Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner. 5Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand; 6Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words.6.6 Gashmu: also called, Geshem 7And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together. 8Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart. 9For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.
10Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee. 11And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in. 12And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him. 13Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me. 14My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.
15¶ So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days. 16And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.
17¶ Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and the letters of Tobiah came unto them.6.17 sent…: Heb. multiplied their letters passing to Tobiah 18For there were many in Judah sworn unto him, because he was the son in law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah. 19Also they reported his good deeds before me, and uttered my words to him. Ang Padayon nga Pagpamalabag sa Pagpatindog sang Pader
1Karon nabalitaan ni Sanbalat, Tobia, Geshem nga Arabo, kag sang iban pa namon nga mga kaaway nga natapos na namon ang pagpatindog sang pader kag wala na ini sang mga buho, luwas na lang sa mga sira sini nga wala pa matakod. 2Gani nagpadala si Sanbalat kag si Geshem sang sini nga mensahi sa akon: “Gusto namon nga magpakigkita sa imo sa isa sang mga baryo sa patag sang Ono.”
Pero nahibaluan ko nga may plano sila nga malain sa akon. 3Gani nagpadala ako sang mga mensahero sa pagsiling sa ila nga, “Importante ang akon ginaobra subong, gani indi ako makakadto dira. Indi ko mahimo nga untatan ang pag-obra agod lang magkadto dira.” 4Apat ka beses nila ako ginpadal-an sang amo gihapon nga mensahi kag apat ka beses ko man sila nga ginpadal-an sang amo gihapon nga sabat.
5Sa ikalima nga beses ginpakadto ni Sanbalat sa akon ang iya suluguon nga may dala nga sulat nga abri na. 6Kag amo ini ang nakasulat: “Ginsugiran ako ni Geshem6:6 Geshem: ukon, Gashmu. nga bisan diin siya magkadto mabatian niya nga ikaw kag ang mga Judio nagaplano sa pagrebelde, kag amo ina nga ginapatindog ninyo liwat ang pader. Kag suno sa iya nabatian, gusto mo nga mangin hari sang mga Judio, 7kag nagpili ka pa gani sang mga propeta nga magproklamar sa imo sa Jerusalem nga ikaw na ang hari sang Juda. Sigurado nga mabalitaan gid ini sang hari, gani magkadto ka diri kay estoryahan naton ini nga mga butang.”
8Amo ini ang akon sabat sa iya: “Wala sing kamatuoran inang imo mga ginapanghambal. Ginhimo-himo mo lang ina.” 9Nahibaluan ko nga ginapahog lang nila kami agod mauntat ang amon pag-obra. Pero nagpangamuyo ako sa Dios nga pabakuron pa gid niya ako.
10Isa ka adlaw, nagkadto ako kay Shemaya nga anak ni Delaya kag apo ni Mehetabel, tungod kay indi siya makahalin sa iya balay.6:10 tungod kay… balay: Indi klaro ang buot silingon sang Hebreo sini. Nagsiling siya sa akon, “Magkitaay kita sa sulod sang templo sang Dios, kag trangkahan ta ang mga puwertahan. Kay magaabot ang imo mga kaaway karon nga gab-i agod patyon ka.” 11Pero nagsabat ako, “Gobernador ako; ngaa malagyo ako kag magpanago sa sulod sang templo sa pagluwas sang akon kabuhi? Indi ako manago!” 12Nareyalisar ko nga wala nagpakighambal ang Dios sa iya, kundi ginsuhulan lang siya ni Sanbalat kag ni Tobias nga ihambal ato sa akon. 13Gusto lang nila nga pahadlukon ako kag pahimuon sang sala paagi sa pagsunod sa ginsiling ni Shemaya, agod pakanubuon nila ako kag pakalainon sa mga tawo.
14Gani nagpangamuyo ako, “O Dios ko, indi pagkalimti nga silutan si Tobia kag si Sanbalat sa ila ginhimo nga malain, pati ang babayi nga propeta nga si Noadia kag ang iban pa nga mga propeta nga nagtinguha sa pagpahadlok sa akon.”
Natapos ang Pagpatindog sang Pader
15Natapos ang pader sang ika-25 nga adlaw sang ikaanom nga bulan, nga amo ang bulan sang Elul. Nahuman ini sa sulod sang 52 ka adlaw. 16Sang mabalitaan ini sang amon mga kaaway sa palibot nga mga nasyon, nahadlok kag nahuy-an sila. Nareyalisar nila nga natapos ato nga obra paagi sa bulig sang Dios.
17Sadto nga panahon, nagasulatay si Tobia kag ang mga pangulo sang Juda. 18Madamo nga taga-Juda ang nagsumpa nga mag-unong kay Tobia tungod kay umagad siya ni Shecania nga anak ni Ara. Kag isa pa, napangasawa sang iya anak nga si Jehohanan ang anak ni Meshulam nga anak ni Berekia. 19Permi lang ako ginasugiran sang mga tawo parte sa maayo nga mga binuhatan ni Tobia, kag permi man nila ginasugid sa iya ang akon ginpanghambal. Kag padayon nga nagasulat si Tobia sa akon sa pagpahadlok sa akon.
