15เมื่อศัตรูของเราได้ข่าวว่าเราล่วงรู้แผนการของเขาและรู้ว่าพระเจ้าทรงขัดขวางเขา เราทั้งหมดก็กลับมาทำงานของตนที่กำแพงต่อ

19ข้าพเจ้าจึงกล่าวกับพวกขุนนาง ข้าราชการ และประชาชนอื่นๆ ว่า “งานขยายออกไปมาก และพวกเราก็อยู่ห่างกันไปตลอดแนวกำแพง 20เมื่อใดที่ท่านได้ยินเสียงเป่าแตร ให้รีบมารวมตัวกับพวกเราที่นั่น พระเจ้าของพวกเราจะทรงต่อสู้เพื่อพวกเรา!”
21ดังนั้นพวกเราจึงทำงานต่อไปตั้งแต่รุ่งสางจนค่ำมืด โดยมีคนครึ่งหนึ่งถือหอกเป็นยามคอยระวังภัย 22ครั้งนั้นข้าพเจ้าบอกกับประชาชนด้วยว่า “ให้ทุกคนกับผู้ช่วยของเขามาค้างคืนในเยรูซาเล็ม เพื่อจะได้เฝ้ายามในเวลากลางคืน และทำงานในเวลากลางวัน” 23ไม่ว่าข้าพเจ้าหรือพี่น้อง คนของข้าพเจ้าหรือยามที่อยู่กับข้าพเจ้า ไม่มีใครถอดเสื้อผ้าเลย และทุกคนมีอาวุธติดตัวอยู่ตลอดเวลา ไม่เว้นแม้เวลาไปเอาน้ำ4:23 ในภาษาฮีบรูข้อความนี้มีความหมายไม่ชัดเจน
