1And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city. 2And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. 3And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. 4And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? 5For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? 6But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. 7And he arose, and departed to his house. 8But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.
9¶ And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.
10¶ And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. 11And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? 12But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. 13But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
14¶ Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not? 15And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast. 16No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. 17Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.
18¶ While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. 19And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.
20¶ And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: 21For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. 22But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. 23And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, 24He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. 25But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. 26And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.
27¶ And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. 28And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. 29Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. 30And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it. 31But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.
32¶ As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil. 33And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel. 34But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils. 35And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
36¶ But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. 37Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
شفای افليج
1پس عيسی سوار قايق شد و به شهر خود، كفرناحوم كه در آن طرف درياچه بود، بازگشت. 2ناگهان عده‌ای، پسر افليجی را كه روی تشكی دراز كشيده بود نزد او آوردند. وقتی عيسی ايمان ايشان را ديد به بيمار گفت: «پسرم، غصه نخور! من گناهانت را بخشيدم.»
3بعضی از روحانيون كه در آنجا حضور داشتند، با خود گفتند: «كفر می‌گويد؛ خود را خدا ساخته است.»
4عيسی كه می‌دانست آنها چه فكر می‌كنند، از ايشان پرسيد: «اين چه افكار پليدی است كه به خود راه می‌دهيد؟ 5آيا بخشيدن گناهان آسانتر است يا شفا دادن مرض؟ 6اكنون به شما ثابت می‌كنم كه من در اين دنيا، اختيار بخشيدن گناه را دارم.» آنگاه رو به پسر افليج كرد و گفت: «برخيز و تشكت را جمع كن و به خانه برو.»
7پسر از جای خود جهيد و به خانه رفت!
8حاضرين، با ديدن اين معجزه، ترسيدند و خدا را شكر كردند كه چنين قدرتی به انسان داده است.
يک گناهكار شاگرد عيسی می‌شود
9عيسی بر سر راه خود، به يک باجگير به نام «مَتّی‌ٰ» برخورد، كه در محل وصول باج و خراج نشسته بود. عيسی به او فرمود: «بيا و مرا پيروی كن!» متی‌ٰ فوراً برخاست و همراه او رفت.
10يک روز عيسی و شاگردانش در خانهٔ متی‌ٰ بر سر سفرهٔ غذا نشسته بودند. عده‌ای از باجگيران و اشخاص بدنام شهر نيز میهمان متی‌ٰ بودند.
11وقتی روحانيون اين را ديدند، اعتراض‌كنان به شاگردان عيسی گفتند: «چرا استاد شما با اين قبيل افراد نشست و برخاست می‌كند؟»
12عيسی در جواب ايشان گفت: «به اين دليل كه افراد سالم احتياج به پزشک ندارند، بلكه بيماران به پزشک نياز دارند.» 13سپس اضافه كرد: «برويد، كمی در مورد اين آيهٔ كتاب آسمانی فكر كنيد كه می‌فرمايد: ”من از شما هديه و قربانی نمی‌خواهم، بلكه دلسوزی و ترحم می‌خواهم.“ رسالت من در اين دنيا اين است كه گناهكاران را به سوی خدا بازگردانم، نه آنانی را كه گمان می‌كنند عادل و مقدسند!»
پرسش دربارهٔ روزه
14يک روز شاگردان يحيای تعميددهنده نزد عيسی آمده، از او پرسيدند: «چرا شاگردان شما مانند فريسيان روزه نمی‌گيرند؟»
15عيسی در جواب گفت: «آيا ميهمانان تا زمانی كه داماد با ايشان است می‌توانند ماتم كنند و روزه بگيرند؟ ولی يک روز خواهد آمد كه من از نزد دوستانم خواهم رفت. آن زمان، وقت روزه گرفتن است.
16«هيچيک از شما به لباس پوسيده، پارچهٔ نو وصله نمی‌كند، زيرا وصله، لباس را پاره می‌كند و سوراخ، گشادتر می‌شود. 17و يا كسی شراب تازه را در مَشک كهنه نمی‌ريزد، چون در اثر فشار شراب، مشک پاره می‌شود؛ هم مشک از بين می‌رود و هم شراب ضايع می‌شود. شراب تازه را بايد در مشک تازه ريخت، تا هم شراب سالم بماند، هم مشک.»
عيسی دختری را زنده می‌كند
18هنوز سخن عيسی تمام نشده بود كه سرپرست عبادتگاه آن محل سر رسيد و او را پرستش كرد و گفت: «دخترم همين الان فوت كرد. ولی استدعا دارم بياييد و دستتان را بر او بگذاريد تا زنده شود.»
19عيسی و شاگردانش به سوی خانهٔ او به راه افتادند. 20در اين وقت، زنی كه دوازده سال از خونريزی رنج می‌برد، از پشت سر عيسی آمد و به گوشهٔ ردای او دست زد؛ 21چون با خود فكر كرده بود كه اگر چنين كند، بهبود خواهد يافت.
22عيسی برگشت و او را ديد و فرمود: «دخترم، غصه نخور! ايمانت باعث شفايت شد!» آن زن همان لحظه بهبود يافت.
23وقتی عيسی به خانهٔ سرپرست عبادتگاه رسيد و با گروه نوحه‌خوانها و مردم مضطرب روبرو شد، 24فرمود: «همه بيرون برويد. اين دختر نمرده؛ خوابيده است!» ولی آنها به حرف او خنديدند! 25سرانجام وقتی همه بيرون رفتند، عيسی به داخل اتاق رفته، دست دختر را گرفت، و دختر صحيح و سالم از جای خود برخاست. 26خبر اين معجزه در سراسر آن نواحی پيچيد.
شفای دو نابينا و يک لال
27وقتی عيسی از خانهٔ آن دختر بيرون می‌آمد، دو مرد نابينا به دنبال او افتاده، فرياد می‌زدند: «ای پسر داوودِ پادشاه، به ما رحم كن.»
28آنان با عيسی وارد خانه‌ای شدند كه در آن زندگی می‌كرد. عيسی از ايشان پرسيد: «آيا ايمان داريد كه می‌توانم چشمان شما را باز كنم؟»
گفتند: «بلی آقا، ايمان داريم.»
29پس او دست بر چشمان ايشان گذاشت و فرمود: «چون ايمان داريد، پس شفا بيابيد!»
30ناگهان چشمان ايشان باز شد و توانستند ببينند. عيسی با تأكيد به ايشان فرمود تا در اين مورد به كسی چيزی نگويند. 31اما به محض اينكه از خانه بيرون رفتند، به هر كه رسيدند ماجرا را بازگو كردند.
32وقتی از آنجا خارج می‌شدند، عيسی با مردی روبرو شد كه به خاطر روح ناپاكی كه در او بود، نمی‌توانست حرف بزند. 33پس عيسی آن روح ناپاک را از او اخراج كرد، و زبان او فوراً باز شد. همهٔ مردم غرق حيرت شدند و گفتند: «در اسرائيل هرگز چنين چيزی ديده نشده است.»
34اما روحانيون گفتند: «او به اين دليل می‌تواند ارواح ناپاک را از وجود مردم بيرون كند كه رئيس ارواح ناپاک يعنی شيطان در وجود اوست.»
نياز به کارگران بيشتر
35در آن زمان، عيسی به تمام شهرها و دهات آن منطقه رفته، در عبادتگاه‌های يهود تعليم می‌داد و برقراری ملكوت خداوند را به مردم اعلام می‌كرد؛ او هر جا می‌رفت، امراض مردم را شفا می‌بخشيد. 36دل او به شدت برای مردم می‌سوخت، زيرا مشكلات فراوان داشتند و نمی‌دانستند به كجا بروند و از چه كسی كمک بخواهند. آنها مانند گوسفندانی بی‌چوپان بودند. 37عيسی به شاگردانش گفت: «محصول زياد است، اما كارگر كم. 38پس از صاحب محصول تقاضا كنيد تا برای جمع‌آوری محصول، كارگران بيشتری به کار گيرد.»
