8¶ And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years. 9Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.25.9 of the jubile: Heb. loud of sound 10And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family. 11A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed. 12For it is the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field. 13In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession. 14And if thou sell ought unto thy neighbour, or buyest ought of thy neighbour’s hand, ye shall not oppress one another: 15According to the number of years after the jubile thou shalt buy of thy neighbour, and according unto the number of years of the fruits he shall sell unto thee: 16According to the multitude of years thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of years thou shalt diminish the price of it: for according to the number of the years of the fruits doth he sell unto thee. 17Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the LORD your God.
18¶ Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety. 19And the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety. 20And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase: 21Then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years. 22And ye shall sow the eighth year, and eat yet of old fruit until the ninth year; until her fruits come in ye shall eat of the old store.
23¶ The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.25.23 for ever: or, to be quite cut off: Heb. for cutting off 24And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land.
25¶ If thy brother be waxen poor, and hath sold away some of his possession, and if any of his kin come to redeem it, then shall he redeem that which his brother sold. 26And if the man have none to redeem it, and himself be able to redeem it;25.26 himself…: Heb. his hand hath attained and found sufficiency 27Then let him count the years of the sale thereof, and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; that he may return unto his possession. 28But if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubile: and in the jubile it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession. 29And if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; within a full year may he redeem it. 30And if it be not redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be established for ever to him that bought it throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubile. 31But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubile.25.31 they may…: Heb. redemption belongeth unto it 32Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites redeem at any time. 33And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubile: for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.25.33 a man…: or, one of the Levites redeem them 34But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession.

39¶ And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant:25.39 compel…: Heb. serve thyself with him with the service, etc 40But as an hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubile: 41And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return. 42For they are my servants, which I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bondmen.25.42 as…: Heb. with the sale of a bondman 43Thou shalt not rule over him with rigour; but shalt fear thy God. 44Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids. 45Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession. 46And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.25.46 they…: Heb. ye shall serve yourselves with them

1እግዚአብሔር (ያህዌ) ሙሴን በሲና ተራራ ላይ እንዲህ አለው፤ 2“ለእስራኤላውያን እንዲህ ብለህ ተናገር፤ ‘ወደምሰጣችሁ ምድር በምትገቡበት ጊዜ ምድሪቱ ራሷ የእግዚአብሔርን (ያህዌ) ሰንበት ታክብር። 3ስድስት ዓመት በዕርሻህ ላይ ዝራ፤ ስድስት ዓመት ወይንህን ግረዝ፤ ፍሬውንም ሰብስብ። 4በሰባተኛው ዓመት ግን ምድሪቱ የዕረፍት ሰንበት ታድርግ፤ ይህም የእግዚአብሔር (ያህዌ) ሰንበት ነው። በዕርሻህ ላይ አትዝራ፤ ወይንህንም አትግረዝ። 5ሳይዘራ የበቀለውን አትጨደው፤ ካልተገረዘው የወይን ተክልህ ፍሬ አትሰብስብ። ምድሪቱ የአንድ ዓመት ዕረፍት ታድርግ። 6ምድሪቱም በሰንበት ጊዜዋ የምታስገኘው ማንኛውም ፍሬ ለአንተ፣ ለወንድ ባሪያህ፣ ለሴት ባሪያህ፣ ለቅጥር ሠራተኛህና ከአንተ ጋር ለሚኖር መጻተኛ ምግብ ይሁን፤ 7እንዲሁም ለቤት እንስሶችህና በምድርህ ለሚኖሩ የዱር አራዊት ምድሪቱ የምታበቅለው ሁሉ መኖ ይሁን።

8“ ‘ሰባት የሰንበት ዓመታት ማለትም ሰባት ጊዜ ሰባት ዓመታትን ቍጠር፤ ሰባቱ የሰንበት ዓመታትም አርባ ዘጠኝ ዓመታት ይሆናሉ። 9ከዚያም በኋላ በሰባተኛው ወር በዐሥረኛው ቀን፣ መለከት ይነፋ፤ በማስተስረያ ቀንም በምድራችሁ ሁሉ መለከት ንፉ። 10አምሳኛውን ዓመት ቀድሱ፤ በምድሪቱ ሁሉ ላሉ ነዋሪዎች በሙሉ ነጻነት ዐውጁ፤ ይህም ኢዮቤልዩ ይሁንላችሁ፤ ከእናንተ እያንዳንዱ ወደ ቤተ ሰቡ ርስት፣ ወደ ወገኑም ይመለስ። 11የአምሳኛው ዓመት ኢዮቤልዩ ይሁንላችሁ፤ አትዝሩ፤ ሳትዘሩት የበቀለውን አትጨዱ፤ ካልተገረዘውም የወይን ሐረግ ፍሬ አትሰብስቡ። 12ኢዮቤልዩ ስለሆነ ለእናንተ የተቀደሰ ይሁን፤ ሳትዘሩት በሜዳ የበቀለውን ብሉ።
13“ ‘በዚህ በኢዮቤልዩ ዓመት እያንዳንዱ ሰው ወደ ርስቱ ይመለስ።
14“ ‘ከወገንህ ከአንዱ መሬት ብትገዛ ወይም ብትሸጥለት፣ አንዱ ሌላውን አያታልል። 15ከኢዮቤልዩ በኋላ ያሉትን ዓመታት ብዛት መሠረት በማድረግ ከወገንህ ትገዛለህ፤ እርሱም የቀሩትን የመከር ዓመታት ብዛት መሠረት በማድረግ ይሸጥልሃል። 16የዓመቱ ቍጥር ከበዛ ዋጋውን ጨምር፤ የዓመቱ ቍጥር ካነሰም፣ ዋጋውን ቀንስ፤ ምክንያቱም የሚሸጥልህ የዓመቱን የምርት መጠን ነውና። 17አንዱ ሌላውን አያታልል፤ አምላክህን (ኤሎሂም) ፍራ፤ እኔ እግዚአብሔር አምላካችሁ (ያህዌ ኤሎሂም) ነኝ።
18“ ‘ሥርዐቴን ጠብቁ፤ ሕጌን በጥንቃቄ አድርጉ፤ በምድሪቱም በሰላም ትኖራላችሁ። 19ምድሪቱ ፍሬዋን ትሰጣለች፤ እስክትጠግቡ ትበላላችሁ፤ በዚያም በሰላም ትኖራላችሁ። 20እናንተም፣ “ካልዘራን ወይም ሰብላችንን ካልሰበሰብን በሰባተኛው ዓመት ምን እንበላለን?” በማለት ትጠይቁ ይሆናል። 21በስድስተኛው ዓመት በረከቴን እሰድድላችኋለሁ፤ ምድሪቱም ለሦስት ዓመት የሚበቃ ፍሬ ትሰጣለች። 22በስምንተኛው ዓመት በምትዘሩበት ጊዜ፣ የምትበሉት ቀድሞ ከሰበሰባችሁት ሰብል ይሆናል፤ የዘጠነኛውን ዓመት መከር እስክትሰበስቡ ድረስ ከዚሁ እህል ትበላላችሁ።
23“ ‘መሬት ለዘለቄታ አይሸጥ፤ ምክንያቱም ምድሪቱ የእኔ ናት፤ እናንተም መጻተኞችና እንግዶች ናችሁ። 24ርስት አድርጋችሁ በምትይዙት ምድር ሁሉ መሬት የሚዋጅበት ሁኔታ እንዲኖር አድርጉ።
25“ ‘ከወገንህ አንዱ ደኽይቶ ርስቱን ቢሸጥ፣ የቅርብ ዘመዱ መጥቶ ወገኑ የሸጠውን ይዋጅለት። 26ነገር ግን ሰውየው ርስቱን የሚዋጅለት ምንም ዘመድ ባይኖረውና እርሱ ራሱ መዋጀት የሚችልበትን ሀብት ቢያገኝ፣ 27ርስቱን ከሸጠበት ጊዜ ጀምሮ ያለውን የሽያጭ ዘመን በመቍጠር የዋጋውን ልዩነት ለገዛው ሰው ይመልስ፤ እርሱም ወደ ገዛ ርስቱ ይመለስ። 28ነገር ግን ዋጋውን መመለስ ካልቻለ፣ የሸጠው ርስት እስከ ኢዮቤልዩ ዓመት ድረስ የገዥው ንብረት ሆኖ ይቈያል፤ በኢዮቤልዩ ዓመት ለባለቤቱ ይመለሳል፤ ሰውየውም ወደ ርስቱ ይመለሳል።
29“ ‘ማንኛውም ሰው ቅጥር በተሠራለት ከተማ ውስጥ የሚገኝ መኖሪያ ቤቱን ቢሸጥ ከሸጠበት ጊዜ ጀምሮ እስከ አንድ ዓመት ሊዋጀው ይችላል፤ የመዋጀት መብቱ እስከ አንድ ዓመት ድረስ ነው። 30አንዱ ዓመት ከማለቁ በፊት መዋጀት ካልቻለ ግን፣ ቅጥር በተሠራለት ከተማ ውስጥ ያለው ቤት የገዢውና የልጅ ልጆቹ ንብረት ሆኖ ይቀራል፤ በኢዮቤልዩ አይመለስለትም። 31ቅጥር በዙሪያው ባልተሠራለት መንደር ውስጥ የሚገኙ ቤቶች ግን እንደ ዕርሻ መሬት ተቈጥረው ሊዋጁ ይችላሉ፤ በኢዮቤልዩም ይመለሳሉ።
32“ ‘ነገር ግን ሌዋውያን የራሳቸው በሆኑት ከተሞች ውስጥ የሚገኙትን ቤቶቻቸውን ምንጊዜም የመዋጀት መብት አላቸው። 33ሌዋውያን በከተማቸው ያለውን ቤታቸውን ቢሸጡና መዋጀት ባይችሉ፣ በኢዮቤልዩ ይመለሳል፤ በሌዋውያን ከተሞች የሚገኙ ቤቶች በእስራኤላውያን መካከል የሌዋውያን ንብረት ናቸውና። 34በከተሞቻቸው ዙሪያ ያለው የግጦሽ መሬት ግን አይሸጥ፤ ለዘላለም ቋሚ ንብረታቸው ነውና።
35“ ‘በመካከልህ ከወገንህ አንዱ ቢደኸይ፣ ራሱንም መርዳት ባይችል፣ በመካከልህ ይኖር ዘንድ መጻተኛውን ወይም እንግዳውን እንደምትረዳ እርዳው። 36ወገንህ በመካከልህ ይኖር ዘንድ ምንም ዐይነት ወለድ25፥36 ወይም እጅግ ብዙ ወለድ፤ እንዲሁም 37 ይመ አትቀበለው፤ አምላክህን (ኤሎሂም) ፍራው። 37ገንዘብህን በዐራጣ አታበድረው፤ ምግብህንም በትርፍ አትሽጥለት። 38የከነዓንን ምድር ልሰጥህና አምላክህ (ኤሎሂም) ልሆን፣ ከግብፅ ያወጣሁህ እኔ እግዚአብሔር አምላክህ (ያህዌ ኤሎሂም) ነኝ።
39“ ‘ከወገንህ አንዱ ከመካከልህ ቢደኸይ፣ ራሱንም ለአንተም ቢሸጥ፣ እንደ ባሪያ አድርገህ አታሠራው። 40በመካከልህ እንዳለ ቅጥር ሠራተኛ ወይም እንደ እንግዳ አድርገህ ቍጠረው፤ እስከ ኢዮቤልዩ ዓመትም ይሥራልህ፤ 41ከዚያም በኋላ እርሱና ልጆቹ በነጻ ይለቀቁ፤ ወደ ቤተ ሰቡና ወደ አባቶቹ ንብረት ይመለስ። 42እስራኤላውያን ከግብፅ ያወጣኋቸው አገልጋዮቼ ስለ ሆኑ እንደ ባሪያ አይሸጡ። 43በጭካኔ አትግዛቸው፤ ነገር ግን አምላክህን (ኤሎሂም) ፍራ።
44“ ‘የሚኖሩህ ወንዶችና ሴቶች ባሪያዎችህ፣ በዙሪያህ ካሉት አሕዛብ መካከል የገዛሃቸው ባሪያዎች ይሁኑ። 45እንደዚሁም በመካከላችሁ ከሚኖሩት መጻተኞችና ከተወለዱት ወገናቸው ባሪያዎችን ግዙ፤ ንብረታችሁም ይሁኑ። 46እነርሱንም እንደ ንብረት ለልጆቻችሁ አውርሷቸው፤ በሕይወታቸው ዘመን ሁሉ ባሪያዎች ይሁኗችሁ፤ እስራኤላውያን ወገኖቻችሁን ግን በጭካኔ አትግዟቸው።
47“ ‘በመካከላችሁ የሚኖር መጻተኛ ወይም እንግዳ ሀብታም ቢሆንና ከወገናችሁ አንዱ ደኽይቶ በመካከላችሁ ለሚኖር መጻተኛ ወይም ከመጻተኛው ወገን ለአንዱ ራሱን ቢሸጥ፣ 48ከተሸጠ በኋላ ሊዋጅ ይችላል። ከዘመዶቹም አንዱ፣ 49አጎቱ ወይም የአጎቱ ልጅ ወይም ከወገኖቹ ማንኛውም የሥጋ ዘመዱ ይዋጀው፤ ሀብት ካገኘም ራሱን መዋጀት ይችላል። 50እርሱም ራሱን ከሸጠበት ዓመት አንሥቶ እስከ ኢዮቤልዩ ዓመት ድረስ ያለውን ጊዜ ከገዛው ሰው ጋር በመሆን ይቍጠር፤ ነጻ የሚለቀቅበትም ዋጋ በእነዚያ ዓመታት ለአንድ ቅጥር ሠራተኛ በሚከፈለው መሠረት ይተመናል። 51ብዙ ዓመት የሚቀረው ከሆነም፣ እርሱን ለመግዛት ከተከፈለው ዋጋ ላይ በቀረው ዓመት መጠን ለሚዋጅበት መልስ ይክፈል። 52እስከ ኢዮቤልዩ ድረስ የሚቀረው ጥቂት ዓመት ከሆነም፣ በቀረው ዓመት መጠን የሚዋጅበትን መልስ ይክፈል። 53ከዓመት እስከ ዓመት እንደ ቅጥር ሠራተኛ ይኑር፤ አሳዳሪውም በፊትህ በጭካኔ አይግዛው።
54“ ‘ከእነዚህ መንገዶች በአንዱ እንኳ መዋጀት ባይችል፣ እርሱና ልጆቹ በኢዮቤልዩ ዓመት በነጻ ይለቀቁ፤ 55እስራኤላውያን ለእኔ አገልጋዮቼ ናቸውና። እነርሱ ከግብፅ ምድር ያወጣኋቸው አገልጋዮቼ ናቸው፤ እኔ እግዚአብሔር አምላካችሁ (ያህዌ ኤሎሂም) ነኝ።
