1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.
3¶ Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.
4¶ Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.
5¶ And if ye offer a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD, ye shall offer it at your own will. 6It shall be eaten the same day ye offer it, and on the morrow: and if ought remain until the third day, it shall be burnt in the fire. 7And if it be eaten at all on the third day, it is abominable; it shall not be accepted. 8Therefore every one that eateth it shall bear his iniquity, because he hath profaned the hallowed thing of the LORD: and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
9¶ And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest. 10And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.
11¶ Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.
12¶ And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.
13¶ Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning.
14¶ Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the LORD.
15¶ Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.
16¶ Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD.
17¶ Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.19.17 and…: or, that thou bear not sin for him
18¶ Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.
19¶ Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.
20¶ And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to an husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; she shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free.19.20 betrothed…: or, abused by any: Heb. reproached by (or, for) man19.20 she shall…: or, they, etc: Heb. there shall be a scourging 21And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, even a ram for a trespass offering. 22And the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering before the LORD for his sin which he hath done: and the sin which he hath done shall be forgiven him.
23¶ And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of. 24But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be holy to praise the LORD withal.19.24 holy…: Heb. holiness of praises to the LORD 25And in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof, that it may yield unto you the increase thereof: I am the LORD your God.
26¶ Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times. 27Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard. 28Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
29¶ Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.19.29 prostitute: Heb. profane
30¶ Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
31¶ Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.
32¶ Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD.
33¶ And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him.19.33 vex: or, oppress 34But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
35¶ Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure. 36Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt.19.36 weights: Heb. stones 37Therefore shall ye observe all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: I am the LORD.
Llamado a la santidad
1El Señor le ordenó a Moisés 2que hablara con toda la asamblea de los israelitas y les dijera: «Sed santos, porque yo el Señor vuestro Dios soy santo.
3»Respetad todos vosotros a vuestra madre y a vuestro padre, y observad mis sábados. Yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios.
4»No os volváis a los ídolos inútiles, ni os hagáis dioses de metal fundido. Yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios.
5»Cuando le ofrezcáis al Señor un sacrificio de comunión, hacedlo de tal manera que el Señor lo acepte de buen grado. 6Coméoslo el día en que lo sacrifiquéis o al día siguiente. Lo que sobre para el tercer día, deberéis quemarlo. 7Si alguien lo come al tercer día, tal sacrificio no le será válido, pues la carne ya se habrá descompuesto. 8Cualquiera que lo coma sufrirá las consecuencias de su pecado por profanar lo que ha sido consagrado al Señor. Tal persona será eliminada de su pueblo.
Relaciones sociales
9»Cuando llegue el tiempo de la cosecha, no seguéis hasta el último rincón de vuestros campos ni recojáis todas las espigas que allí queden.
10»No rebusquéis hasta el último racimo de sus viñas, ni recojáis las uvas que se hayan caído. Dejadlas para los pobres y los extranjeros. Yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios.
11»No robéis.
»No mintáis.
»No engañéis a vuestro prójimo.
12»No juréis en mi nombre solo por jurar, ni profanéis el nombre de vuestro Dios. Yo soy el Señor.
13»No explotes a tu prójimo, ni lo despojes de nada.
»No retengas el salario de tu jornalero hasta el día siguiente.
14»No maldigas al sordo, ni le pongas tropiezos al ciego, sino teme a tu Dios. Yo soy el Señor.
15»No perviertas la justicia, ni te muestres parcial en favor del pobre o del rico, sino juzga a todos con justicia.
16»No andes difundiendo calumnias entre tu pueblo, ni expongas la vida de tu prójimo con falsos testimonios. Yo soy el Señor.
17»No alimentes odios secretos contra tu hermano, sino reprende con franqueza a tu prójimo para que no sufras las consecuencias de su pecado.
18»No seas vengativo con tu prójimo, ni le guardes rencor. Ama a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.19:18 como a ti mismo. Alt. que es como tú. Yo soy el Señor.
Otras exigencias de la santidad
19»Cumplid mis estatutos:
»No crucéis animales de especies diferentes.
»No plantéis en vuestro campo dos clases distintas de semilla.
»No uséis ropa tejida con dos clases distintas de hilo.
20»Si un hombre se acuesta con una esclava prometida a otro en matrimonio, pero que aún no ha sido rescatada ni declarada libre, a los dos se les impondrá el castigo debido,19:20 a los dos se les impondrá el castigo debido. Alt. los dos deberán ser investigados. pero no se les condenará a muerte porque ella aún no ha sido declarada libre. 21No obstante, el hombre deberá ofrecer al Señor un carnero como ofrenda por su culpa. Lo llevará a la entrada de la Tienda de reunión, 22y el sacerdote hará expiación ante el Señor por el pecado cometido. De este modo, su pecado le será perdonado.
23»Cuando vosotros entréis en la tierra y plantéis cualquier clase de árboles frutales, durante tres años no comeréis su fruto, sino que lo consideraréis inmundo.19:23 inmundo. Lit. incircunciso. 24En el cuarto año todo su fruto será consagrado como una ofrenda de alabanza al Señor, 25y en el quinto año ya podréis comer de su fruto. De este modo, aumentaréis vuestras cosechas. Yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios.
26»No comáis nada que tenga sangre.
»No practiquéis la adivinación ni los sortilegios.
27»No os cortéis el cabello en redondo ni os despuntéis la barba.
28»No os hagáis heridas en el cuerpo por causa de los muertos, ni tatuajes en la piel. Yo soy el Señor.
29»No degradéis a vuestra hija haciendo de ella una prostituta, para que tampoco se prostituya la tierra ni se llene de perversidad.
Otros deberes
30»Observad mis sábados, y tened reverencia por mi santuario. Yo soy el Señor.
31»No acudáis a la nigromancia, ni busquéis a los espiritistas, porque os haréis impuros por causa de ellos. Yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios.
32»Ponte de pie en presencia de los mayores.
»Respeta a los ancianos.
»Teme a tu Dios. Yo soy el Señor.
33»Cuando algún extranjero se establezca en vuestro país, no lo tratéis mal. 34Al contrario, tratadlo como si fuera uno de vosotros. Amadlo como a vosotros mismos, porque también vosotros fuisteis extranjeros en Egipto. Yo soy el Señor y Dios de Israel.
35»No cometáis injusticias falseando las medidas de longitud, de peso y de capacidad. 36Usad balanzas, pesas y medidas19:36 medidas. Lit. efas e hins. justas. Yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios, que os saqué de Egipto.
37»Obedeced todos mis estatutos. Poned por obra todos mis preceptos. Yo soy el Señor».
