1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them; This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, saying, 3What man soever there be of the house of Israel, that killeth an ox, or lamb, or goat, in the camp, or that killeth it out of the camp, 4And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an offering unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD; blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people: 5To the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they offer in the open field, even that they may bring them unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest, and offer them for peace offerings unto the LORD. 6And the priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar of the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and burn the fat for a sweet savour unto the LORD. 7And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations.
8¶ And thou shalt say unto them, Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which sojourn among you, that offereth a burnt offering or sacrifice, 9And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the LORD; even that man shall be cut off from among his people.
10¶ And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people. 11For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. 12Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood. 13And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust.17.13 which…: Heb. that hunteth any hunting 14For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off. 15And every soul that eateth that which died of itself, or that which was torn with beasts, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even: then shall he be clean.17.15 that which died…: Heb. a carcase 16But if he wash them not, nor bathe his flesh; then he shall bear his iniquity.
Locul pentru jertfe
1Domnul i‑a vorbit lui Moise, zicând: 2„Vorbește‑le lui Aaron, fiilor săi și tuturor fiilor lui Israel și să le spui: «Acesta este cuvântul pe care l‑a poruncit Domnul: 3‘Dacă vreun bărbat din Casa lui Israel înjunghie în tabără sau în afara taberei un bou3 Putea fi atât mascul, cât și femelă., un miel sau un țap, 4în loc să vină cu el la intrarea în Cortul Întâlnirii și să‑l aducă drept ofrandă pentru Domnul, înaintea Tabernaculului Domnului, omul acela va fi considerat vinovat de vărsare de sânge. El a vărsat sânge și, prin urmare, va fi nimicit din mijlocul poporului său. 5De aceea, în loc să‑și înjunghie jertfele pe câmp, fiii lui Israel să le aducă Domnului la intrarea în Cortul Întâlnirii, la preot, și să le ofere ca jertfe de pace5 Vezi nota de la 3:1. pentru Domnul. 6Preotul să stropească sângele pe altarul Domnului, la intrarea în Cortul Întâlnirii, și să ardă grăsimea care va fi de o aromă plăcută Domnului. 7Să nu‑și mai înjunghie astfel jertfele în cinstea țapilor, înaintea cărora se prostituează7 Este vorba fie de ritualurile care implicau prostituția sacră, foarte răspândită în Canaan, fie de faptul că simpla închinare la idoli este o infidelitate (o prostituție) înaintea lui Dumnezeu.. Aceasta să fie o hotărâre veșnică pentru ei de‑a lungul generațiilor lor.’»
8Să le mai spui: «Dacă vreun bărbat din Casa lui Israel sau vreun străin care locuiește în mijlocul vostru aduce o ardere‑de‑tot sau o altă jertfă, 9fără să o înfățișeze la intrarea în Cortul Întâlnirii pentru a o jertfi Domnului, omul acela să fie nimicit din poporul său.
Interdicția de a consuma mâncare cu sânge
10Dacă vreunul din Casa lui Israel sau vreun străin care locuiește în mijlocul vostru va consuma vreun fel de sânge, Îmi voi întoarce fața împotriva acelui om care consumă sânge și‑l voi nimici din poporul său. 11Căci viața trupului este în sânge. Eu vi l‑am dat ca să puteți face ispășire pentru viețile voastre pe altar, căci sângele face ispășire pentru viața cuiva. 12De aceea le‑am zis fiilor lui Israel: ‘Nimeni dintre voi să nu consume sânge, și nici străinul care locuiește în mijlocul vostru să nu consume sânge.’
13Când vreunul dintre fiii lui Israel sau dintre străinii care locuiesc în mijlocul lor vânează sau prinde vreo vietate sau vreo pasăre care poate fi mâncată, să‑i verse sângele și să‑l acopere cu țărână. 14Căci viața oricărui trup este sângele lui. De aceea le‑am zis fiilor lui Israel: ‘Să nu consumați sângele niciunui trup, pentru că viața oricărui trup este sângele lui. Oricine îl va consuma va fi nimicit.’
15Orice persoană care mănâncă din cadavrul unui animal sau dintr‑un animal sfâșiat de fiare – fie băștinaș, fie străin – să‑și spele hainele și să se scalde în apă. El va fi necurat până seara, după care va fi curat. 16Dar dacă nu și le spală și nu‑și scaldă trupul, va purta pedeapsa pentru nelegiuirea lui.»“
