1And after Abimelech there arose to defend Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim.10.1 defend: or, deliver: Heb. save 2And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.
3¶ And after him arose Jair, a Gileadite, and judged Israel twenty and two years. 4And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havoth-jair unto this day, which are in the land of Gilead.10.4 Havoth-jair: or, the villages of Jair 5And Jair died, and was buried in Camon.
6¶ And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him. 7And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon. 8And that year they vexed and oppressed the children of Israel: eighteen years, all the children of Israel that were on the other side Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.10.8 oppressed: Heb. crushed 9Moreover the children of Ammon passed over Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sore distressed.
10¶ And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served Baalim. 11And the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Did not I deliver you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines? 12The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand. 13Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more. 14Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.
15¶ And the children of Israel said unto the LORD, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.10.15 seemeth…: Heb. is good in thine eyes 16And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.10.16 strange…: Heb. gods of strangers10.16 grieved: Heb. shortened 17Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpeh.10.17 gathered: Heb. cried 18And the people and princes of Gilead said one to another, What man is he that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

1Human mamatay si Abimelec, si Tola nga anak ni Pua ug apo ni Dodo mao ang nangulo sa pagluwas sa Israel. Gikan siya sa tribo ni Isacar, apan nagpuyo siya sa Shamir, sa kabungtoran sa Efraim. 2Nangulo siya sa Israel sulod sa 23 ka tuig. Sa dihang namatay siya, gilubong siya sa Shamir.
3Sunod kang Tola mao si Jair nga taga-Gilead. Nangulo siya sa Israel sulod sa 22 ka tuig. 4May 30 siya ka mga anak ug ang matag usa kanila may kaugalingong asno. Kini sila mao usab ang nagdumala sa 30 ka mga lungsod sa Gilead nga hangtod karon gitawag ug lungsod ni Jair.10:4 lungsod ni Jair: o, Havot Jair. 5Sa dihang namatay si Jair, gilubong siya sa Kamon.
Gipaantos sa mga Amonihanon ang mga Israelinhon
6Nagpakasala na usab ang mga Israelinhon atubangan sa Ginoo. Gisalikway nila ang Ginoo ug misimba sila sa mga imahen ni Baal ug kang Ashtarot, ug sa mga dios sa Syria,10:6 Syria: sa Hebreo, Aram. Sidon, Moab, Ammon, ug Filistia. 7Tungod niini, nasuko kanila ang Ginoo ug gipasagdan niya sila nga mailalom sa gahom sa mga Amonihanon ug Filistihanon. 8Ug sulod sa 18 ka tuig gipaantos nila ang tanang mga Israelinhon nga atua sa dapit sa mga Amorihanon sa Gilead, sa sidlakang bahin sa Suba sa Jordan. 9Mitabok usab ang mga Amonihanon sa kasadpang bahin sa Suba sa Jordan ug nakiggira sa mga tribo ni Juda, ni Benjamin, ug ni Efraim. Tungod niini, nagaantos pag-ayo ang Israel.
10Busa nagpakitabang ang mga Israelinhon sa Ginoo. Miingon sila, “Nakasala kami batok kanimo. Mitalikod kami kanimo nga among Dios ug misimba sa mga imahen ni Baal.” 11-12Mitubag ang Ginoo, “Sa dihang gipaantos kamo sa mga Ehiptohanon, Amorihanon, Amonihanon, Filistihanon, Sidonhon, Amalekanhon, ug mga Maonhon,10:11-12 Maonhon: Sa ubang mga kopya sa Septuagint, Midianhon. nangayo kamo ug tabang kanako ug giluwas ko kamo. 13Apan mitalikod kamo kanako ug mialagad sa ubang mga dios. Busa karon dili ko na kamo luwason. 14Lakaw kamo ug pagpakitabang sa mga dios nga inyong gipili nga simbahon. Sila ang paluwasa kaninyo sa panahon sa inyong kalisod.”
15Apan miingon sila sa Ginoo, “Nakasala kami kanimo, busa himoa ang gusto mong himuon kanamo. Apan malooy ka, luwasa kami karon.” 16Unya gisalikway nila ang ilang mga dios ug mialagad pag-usab sa Ginoo. Sa kadugayan, wala na makaagwanta ang Ginoo sa pagtan-aw sa ilang kalisod ug gikaloy-an niya sila.
17Unya nangandam ang mga Amonihanon ug ang mga Israelinhon alang sa ilang panag-away. Nagtigom ang mga Amonihanon ug nagkampo sila sa Gilead, ug ang mga Israelinhon nagtigom usab ug nagkampo sa Mizpa. 18Nagaingnanay ang mga pangulo sa Gilead, “Ang mouna pagsulong sa mga Amonihanon mao ang himuon natong pangulo sa tanang lumulupyo sa Gilead.”
