1Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it. 2What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you. 3Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God. 4But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value. 5O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom. 6Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips. 7Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him? 8Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God? 9Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him? 10He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons. 11Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you? 12Your remembrances are like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.

23How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin. 24Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy? 25Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble? 26For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth. 27Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.13.27 lookest…: Heb. observest13.27 heels: Heb. roots 28And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.
1Всё это видели мои глаза,
слышали уши, и понял ум.
2Что знаете вы, то знаю и я;
я не хуже вас.
3Но я бы хотел поговорить со Всемогущим,
с Аллахом поспорить о моём деле.
4А вы замарали меня ложью,
все вы – бесполезные лекари.
5О, если бы вы все вместе замолчали!
В этом была бы мудрость для вас.
6Выслушайте же мои доводы,
внимайте моим укорам.
7Неужели вы станете лгать ради Аллаха
и обманывать ради Него?
8Будете ради Него пристрастными
и в суде станете Его выгораживать?
9Что с вами будет, если Он испытает вас?
Обманете ли вы Его, как обманываете людей?
10Он непременно осудит вас,
если вы были втайне пристрастны.
11Не страшит вас Его величие?
Ужас перед Ним вас не объемлет?
12Изречения ваши – зола,
и доводы ваши – оплот из глины.
13Замолчите, и я буду говорить,
а потом пусть будет со мной, что будет.
14Я подвергну себя опасности,
жизнью своей рискну13:14 Букв.: «Плоть свою я зубами стисну, жизнь свою в руку себе вложу»..
15Он убивает меня, но я буду надеяться на Него13:15 Или: «Вот Он убивает меня, и нет мне надежды, но…»;
перед Его лицом я защищу свой путь.
16И в этом моё спасение,
ведь безбожник предстать перед Ним не осмелится.
17Внимайте моим словам;
пусть дойдёт моя речь до ваших ушей.
18Вот я завёл судебное дело
и знаю, что буду оправдан.
19Возьмётся ли кто оспаривать меня?
Если да, то я замолчу и умру.
20Лишь о двух вещах молю я, о Аллах,
и я не стану больше прятаться от Тебя:
21удали от меня Свою руку
и не страши меня ужасом Твоим.
22Тогда призови меня, и я откликнусь,
или позволь мне говорить, а Сам отвечай.
23Сколько за мной злодейств и грехов?
Покажи мне проступки мои и грехи.
24За что Ты скрываешь Своё лицо
и считаешь меня врагом?
25Станешь ли Ты пугать лист опавший?
Пустишься ли за сухой соломинкой в погоню?
26Но Ты записываешь мои ошибки
и грехи моей юности мне вменяешь.
27Ноги мои Ты забил в колодки,
следишь за всеми моими путями;
по следам моих ног идёшь.
28И распадается человек, как гниль,
как ткань, изъеденная молью.
