1At that time, saith the LORD, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves: 2And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth. 3And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts.
4¶ Moreover thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; Shall they fall, and not arise? shall he turn away, and not return? 5Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return. 6I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle. 7Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD. 8How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? 18¶ When I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart is faint in me.8.18 in: Heb. upon 19Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not the LORD in Zion? is not her king in her? 1خداوند می‌فرمايد: «در آن وقت، دشمن قبرهای پادشاهان و بزرگان يهودا، قبرهای كاهنان، انبیا و ساكنان اورشليم را شكافته، استخوانهايشان را بيرون خواهد آورد، 2و روی زمين در مقابل بتهايشان، آفتاب و ماه و ستارگان، پهن خواهد كرد بتهايی كه مورد پرستش و علاقهٔ آنان بود و از آنها پيروی می‌كردند. آن استخوانها ديگر جمع‌آوری و دفن نخواهند شد، بلكه مانند فضلهٔ حيوانات بر روی زمين خواهند ماند. 3كسانی كه از اين قومِ فاسد زنده بمانند، به هر جايی كه ايشان را پراكنده كرده باشم مرگ را بر زندگی ترجيح خواهند داد.»
گناه و مكافات
4خداوند فرمود تا به قومش چنين بگويم: «كسی كه می‌افتد، آيا دوباره بلند نمی‌شود؟ كسی كه راه را اشتباه می‌رود، آيا به راه راست باز نمی‌گردد؟ 5پس چرا قوم من، اهالی اورشليم، دچار گمراهی هميشگی شده‌اند؟ چرا به بتهای دروغين چسبيده‌اند و نمی‌خواهند نزد من بازگردند؟ 6به گفتگوی آنها گوش دادم، ولی يک حرف راست نشنيدم! هيچكس از گناهش پشيمان نيست؟ هيچكس نمی‌گويد: ”چه كار زشتی مرتكب شده‌ام؟“ بلكه مثل اسبی كه با سرعت به ميدان جنگ می‌رود، همه با شتاب به سوی راههای گناه‌آلودشان می‌روند! 7لک‌لک می‌داند چه وقت كوچ كند؛ همينطور فاخته، پرستو و مرغ ماهیخوار؛ هر سال در زمانی كه خدا تعيين كرده است، همهٔ آنها باز می‌گردند؛ ولی قوم من زمان بازگشت خود را نمی‌دانند و از قوانين من بی‌اطلاع هستند.
8«چگونه می‌گوييد كه دانا هستيد و قوانين مرا می‌دانيد، در حالی که معلمان شما آنها را تغيير داده‌اند تا معنی ديگری بدهند؟ 9اين معلمانِ به ظاهر دانای شما برای همين گناه تبعيد شده، شرمنده و رسوا خواهند شد. آنها كلام مرا رد كرده‌اند؛ آيا دانايی اين است؟ 10بنابراين زنان و مزرعه‌های ايشان را به ديگران خواهم داد؛ چون همهٔ آنها از كوچک تا بزرگ طمعكارند؛ حتی انبیا و كاهنان نيز فقط در پی آنند كه مال مردم را به فريب تصاحب كنند. 11آنها زخمهای قوم مرا می‌پوشانند گويی چيز چندان مهمی نيست؛ می‌گويند: ”آرامش برقرار است!“ در حالی که آرامشی وجود ندارد. 12آيا قوم من از بت‌پرستی شرمنده‌اند؟ نه، ايشان هرگز احساس شرم و حيا نمی‌كنند! از اين رو من ايشان را مجازات خواهم كرد و ايشان جان داده، در ميان كشتگان خواهند افتاد.»
13خداوند می‌فرمايد: «من تمام محصول زمين ايشان را نابود خواهم ساخت؛ ديگر خوشه‌ای بر درخت مو و انجيری بر درخت انجير ديده نخواهد شد؛ برگها نيز پژمرده می‌شوند! هر آنچه به ايشان داده‌ام، از ميان خواهد رفت.»
14آنگاه قوم خدا خواهند گفت: «چرا اينجا نشسته‌ايم؟ بياييد به شهرهای حصاردار برويم و آنجا بميريم؛ زيرا خداوند، خدای ما، ما را محكوم به نابودی كرده و جام زهر داده تا بنوشيم، چون ما نسبت به او گناه ورزيده‌ايم. 15برای صلح و آرامش انتظار كشيديم، ولی خبری نشد. چشم به راه شفا و سلامتی بوديم، ولی وحشت و اضطراب گريبانگير ما شد.»
16صدای اسبان دشمن از دان، مرز شمالی، شنيده می‌شود؛ صدای شيهه اسبان نيرومندشان، همه را به لرزه انداخته است؛ چون دشمن می‌آيد تا اين سرزمين و شهرها و اهالی آن را نابود سازد.
17خداوند می‌فرمايد: «من نيروهای دشمن را مانند مارهای سمی به جان شما خواهم انداخت مارهايی كه نمی‌توانيد افسونشان كنيد؛ هر چه تلاش كنيد، باز شما را گزيده، خواهند كشت.»
اندوه ارميا برای قومش
18درد من، درمان نمی‌پذيرد! دل من بيتاب است! 19گوش كنيد! ناله‌های قوم من از هر گوشهٔ سرزمين شنيده می‌شود! آنها می‌پرسند: «پس خداوند كجاست؟ آيا پادشاه ما سرزمينمان را ترک گفته است؟»
خداوند جواب می‌دهد: «چرا با پرستيدن بتها و خدايان غريب خود، خشم مرا شعله‌ور كرديد؟»
20قوم با اندوه می‌گويند: «فصل برداشت محصول گذشت؛ تابستان آمد و رفت؛ ولی ما هنوز نجات نيافته‌ايم!»
21دل من به خاطر صدمات و جراحات قومم، خونين است؛ از شدت غم و غصه، ماتم زده و حيرانم. 22آيا در جلعاد8:22 جلعاد منطقه‌ای بود واقع در شرق رود اردن که برای گياهان دارويی‌اش شهرت داشت. دارويی نيست؟ آيا در آنجا طبيبی پيدا نمی‌شود؟ پس چرا قوم من شفا نمی‌يابد؟
