1At that time, saith the LORD, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves: 2And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth. 3And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts.
4¶ Moreover thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; Shall they fall, and not arise? shall he turn away, and not return? 5Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return. 6I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle. 7Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD. 8How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? 13¶ I will surely consume them, saith the LORD: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them. 14Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.8.14 gall: or, poison 15We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble! 16The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan: the whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones; for they are come, and have devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those that dwell therein.8.16 all…: Heb. the fulness thereof 17For, behold, I will send serpents, cockatrices, among you, which will not be charmed, and they shall bite you, saith the LORD.
18¶ When I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart is faint in me.8.18 in: Heb. upon 19Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not the LORD in Zion? is not her king in her? 1Nagpadayon sa pagsulti ang Ginoo, “Nianang adlawa, panghabwaon gikan sa mga lubnganan ang mga bukog sa mga hari ug sa mga opisyal sa Juda, apil ang mga bukog sa mga pari, sa mga propeta, ug sa katawhan sa Jerusalem. 2Ikatag kini diha sa yuta, ilalom sa kahayag sa adlaw, bulan, ug mga bitoon nga ilang gihigugma, gialagaran gisunod, gidangpan, ug gisimba. Dili na tigomon ang ilang mga bukog ug ilubong. Magkatag nalang kini diha sa yuta nga daw tae. 3Ang mabilin nga buhi niining daotan nga nasod katagon ko ngadto sa ubang mga nasod. Ug didto palabihon pa nilang mamatay kaysa mabuhi. Ako, ang Ginoo nga Makagagahom, ang nagaingon niini.”
Ang Sala ug ang Silot
4Miingon ang Ginoo kanako nga isulti ko kini nga mensahe ngadto sa mga tawo, “Kon matumba ang tawo, dili ba motindog man siya pagbalik? Kon nasaag siya, dili ba mobalik man siya sa iyang agi? 5Apan ngano man nga kamong mga taga-Jerusalem padayon nga mitalikod kanako? Nganong dili man ninyo mahimong biyaan ang mga dios-dios nga nagatunto kaninyo ug mobalik kanako? 6Gipaminaw kog maayo ang inyong gipanulti ug wala kamoy gisulti nga husto. Walay bisan usa kaninyo nga naghinulsol sa iyang kadaotan. Wala gayoy nakaingon, ‘Unsa kining akong nahimo?’ Tanan kaninyo abtik kaayong magpakasala, daw mga kabayo kamo nga mipaturatoy ug dagan ngadto sa gira. 7Ang talabon, ang salampati, ang sayaw, ug ang lapay nahibalo kon kanus-a mobalhin ngadto sa ubang mga dapit ug kanus-a sila mobalik, apan kamong akong mga katawhan wala mahibalo sa akong lagda. 8Nganong moingon man kamo nga maalamon kamo tungod kay anaa kaninyo ang kasugoan sa Ginoo, nga ang tinuod, gituis man kini sa inyong mga magtutudlo? 9Maulawan gayod ang mga nagaingon nga maalamon. Malisang gayod sila kay bihagon man sila, tungod sa ilang pagsalikway sa akong mga pulong. Nan, unsa mang matanga sa kaalam ang anaa kanila? 10Busa ihatag ko sa ubang mga tawo ang ilang mga asawa ug mga uma. Tungod kay silang tanan, gikan sa labing ubos hangtod sa labing dungganon, nanglimbong aron makasapi. Bisan mga propeta ug mga pari nanglimbong usab. 11Wala nila tagda ang samad sa akong mga katawhan, bisan ug grabe na kini. Nagaingon sila nga maayo ra ang tanan bisan ang tinuod dili kini maayo. 12Naulaw ba sila sa ilang mangil-ad nga mga batasan? Wala! Kay wala na silay ulaw! Dili man lang gani mahilaw ang ilang mga dagway. Busa ipaubos sila sa panahon nga sila silotan. Ako, ang Ginoo, nagaingon nga mangalaglag sila sama sa uban. 13Laglagon ko gayod sila, apil ang ilang mga abot nga mga ubas ug mga igera. Bisan ang mga dahon niini mangalaya. Ang gipanghatag ko kanila mawala na.
14“Unya moingon sila, ‘Unsa pa may atong gihulat? Dali, mangadto kita sa pinarilan nga mga lungsod ug didto kita magpakamatay, kay gihukman na kita nga patyon sa Ginoo nga atong Dios. Daw sama lang nga gihatagan niya kita ug tubig nga may hilo aron atong imnon, tungod kay nakasala kita kaniya. 15Nangandoy kitag kalinaw, apan walay kalinaw nga miabot. Nangandoy kitag kaayohan, apan kalisang ang miabot. 16Gikan sa Dan mabatian ang pagpangusmo sa mga kabayo sa mga kaaway. Sa tingog lang sa ilang mga kabayo mangurog na sa kahadlok ang tibuok kayutaan. Mianhi sila aron sa paglaglag niini nga yuta ug sa tanan nga anaa niini—ang mga lungsod ug ang tanang mga lumulupyo niini.’ ”
17Miingon ang Ginoo, “Pamati! Ipadala ko diha kaninyo kining mga kaaway nga daw sa malala nga mga bitin nga dili mapaamo, unya pamaakon nila kamo.”
18Unya miingon si Jeremias, Dili gyud mahupay ang akong kasubo. Sakit gayod ang akong kasingkasing. 19Paminawa ang pagpakitabang sa akong mga katagilungsod; madungog kini sa tibuok kayutaan. Nagaingon sila, “Wala na ba sa Jerusalem8:19 Jerusalem: sa Hebreo, Zion. ang Ginoo? Wala na ba dinhi ang Dios nga Hari sa Jerusalem?” Mitubag ang Ginoo, “Nganong gipalagot ninyo ako pinaagi sa pagsimba sa mga dios-dios nga walay pulos?” 20Mireklamo ang mga tawo, “Human na man unta ang ting-init, ug nahuman na usab ang ting-ani, apan wala gihapon kami maluwas!”
21Hilabihan ang akong kasakit tungod sa kasakit nga nahiagoman sa akong mga katagilungsod. Nagbangotan ako ug hilabihan ang akong kaguol. 22Wala bay tambal sa Gilead? Wala bay mananambal didto? Nganong wala man maayo ang samad sa akong mga katagilungsod?
