10¶ Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock. 11For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he. 12Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. 13Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow. 14And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.
15¶ Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not. 16Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy. 17And there is hope in thine end, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border.

22¶ How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man. 23Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The LORD bless thee, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness. 24And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they that go forth with flocks. 25For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul. 26Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.
27¶ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast. 28And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the LORD. 29In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge. 30But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.

L’Eternel va créer ╵du nouveau sur la terre :
maintenant, c’est la femme ╵qui entourera l’homme31.22 Il s’agit d’Israël, qui erre dans tous les sens, rebelle à l’Eternel. La fin du verset fait allusion à la vie sexuelle : c’est normalement l’homme qui recherche la femme. Mais l’œuvre divine transformera les dispositions des Israélites, de sorte que la femme, représentant Israël, recherchera l’homme, représentant Dieu. En hébreu, les mots rendus par rebelle et entourera font assonance..
Reconstruction
23Voilà ce que déclare le Seigneur des armées célestes, Dieu d’Israël : Quand je restaurerai le pays de Juda avec toutes ses villes, alors on y dira à nouveau : « Que l’Eternel te bénisse, demeure de justice, montagne sainte ! » 24Et les populations du pays de Juda et de toutes ses villes y habiteront toutes ensemble ; les laboureurs et ceux qui mènent les troupeaux s’y installeront, eux aussi. 25Je désaltérerai ceux qui sont épuisés, je comblerai ceux qui sont languissants.
26Puis je me suis réveillé et j’ai ouvert les yeux. Mon sommeil m’avait été agréable.

31Mais des jours viennent,
déclare l’Eternel,

Une alliance éternelle
35Voici ce que déclare l’Eternel
qui fait paraître le soleil ╵pour éclairer le jour
et qui a établi ╵les lois qui règlent ╵la course de la lune ╵et des étoiles ╵pour éclairer la nuit,
qui agite la mer ╵et fait mugir ses flots,
et qui a pour nom l’Eternel, ╵le Seigneur des armées célestes :
36Il faudrait que ces lois ╵soient supprimées par-devant moi,
déclare l’Eternel,
pour que la descendance d’Israël
cesse aussi pour toujours ╵d’être une nation devant moi.
37Voici ce que déclare l’Eternel :
Si l’on peut mesurer ╵le ciel là-haut
ou si l’on peut sonder ╵les fondements ╵de la terre ici-bas,
moi, je rejetterai ╵toute la descendance d’Israël
pour tout ce qu’ils ont fait,
l’Eternel le déclare.
38Mais des jours vont venir, l’Eternel le déclare, où cette ville sera de nouveau rebâtie pour l’Eternel, depuis la tour d’Hananéel jusqu’à la porte de l’Angle. 39On étendra encore le cordeau d’arpentage en ligne droite jusqu’à la colline de Gareb, puis on tournera vers Goath31.39 Localités inconnues. Le sens général de ce passage est que la nouvelle cité sera plus vaste que l’ancienne et qu’elle inclura des endroits considérés comme impurs au temps de Jérémie.. 40Et toute la vallée où l’on jette les cadavres et les cendres grasses, et tous les terrains jusqu’au torrent du Cédron, jusqu’à l’angle où se trouve la Porte des Chevaux, du côté de l’orient : tout ce domaine sera saint pour l’Eternel, et il ne sera plus jamais arraché ni détruit.
