1Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth. 2And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity. 3And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.15.3 kinds: Heb. families 4And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem.15.4 cause…: Heb. give them for a removing 5For who shall have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest?15.5 how…: Heb. of thy peace? 6Thou hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting. 7And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways.15.7 children: or, whatsoever is dear 8Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.15.8 the mother…: or, the mother city a young man spoiling, etc, or, the mother and the young men 9She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she hath been ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the LORD.
10¶ Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me. 11The LORD said, Verily it shall be well with thy remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat thee well in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.15.11 cause…: or, intreat the enemy for thee 12Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel? 13Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders. 14And I will make thee to pass with thine enemies into a land which thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger, which shall burn upon you.
15¶ O LORD, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke. 16Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.15.16 I am…: Heb. thy name is called upon me 17I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation. 18Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and as waters that fail?15.18 fail: Heb. be not sure?
19¶ Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them. 20And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD. 21And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.
هلاكت مردم يهودا
1آنگاه خداوند به من فرمود: «حتی اگر موسی و سموئيل در حضور من می‌ايستادند و برای اين قوم شفاعت می‌نمودند، بر ايشان ترحم نمی‌كردم. اين قوم را از نظرم دور كن تا بروند. 2اگر از تو بپرسند كه به كجا بروند، از جانب من بگو كه آنكه محكوم به مرگ است، به سوی مرگ؛ آنكه محكوم است با شمشير كشته شود، به سوی شمشير؛ آنكه محكوم است با قحطی هلاک گردد، به سوی قحطی و آنكه محكوم به اسيری است به سوی اسارت و بردگی! 3من چهار هلاک كننده بر آنان خواهم فرستاد: شمشير، تا آنان را بكشد؛ سگان، تا آنان را بدرند؛ لاشخورها، تا آنان را بخورند؛ حيوانات وحشی، تا آنان را تكه پاره كنند.
4«به سبب كارهای بدی كه منسی، پسر حزقيا، پادشاه يهودا در اورشليم كرد، ايشان را به چنان مجازات سختی خواهم رساند كه مردم دنيا از سرنوشتشان وحشت نمايند!
5«ای اهالی اورشليم، چه كسی ديگر دلش به حال شما می‌سوزد؟ چه كسی برای شما گريه و زاری می‌كند؟ چه كسی حتی حاضر می‌شود به خود زحمت بدهد تا احوالتان را جويا شود؟ 6شما مرا ترک كرده و از من روگردانده‌ايد، پس من نيز دست خود را دراز می‌كنم تا شما را نابود كنم، چون ديگر از رحم كردن به شما خسته شده‌ام! 7كنار دروازه‌های شهرهايتان، شما را غربال خواهم كرد. فرزندانتان را از شما گرفته، نابودتان خواهم ساخت، چون نمی‌خواهيد از گناه دست برداريد. 8شمار بيوه زنانتان مانند ريگهای ساحل زياد خواهد شد؛ به هنگام ظهر، مردان جوان را كشته و مادرانشان را داغدار خواهم ساخت؛ كاری خواهم كرد كه وحشت ناگهانی همهٔ آنها را فرا گيرد. 9مادری كه صاحب هفت فرزند می‌باشد از غصه به حال مرگ خواهد افتاد، چون تمام پسرانش كشته خواهند شد؛ خورشيد زندگی او بزودی غروب می‌كند! او بی‌اولاد و رسوا خواهد شد! هر كه را زنده باقی مانده باشد به دم شمشير خواهم سپرد!»
شكايت ارميا نزد خداوند
10گفتم: «وای كه چه مرد بدبختی هستم! ای كاش مادرم مرا به دنیا نياورده بود! به هر جا كه می‌روم، بايد با همه مباحثه و مجادله كنم؛ نه به كسی پول به نزول داده‌ام، نه از كسی پول به نزول گرفته‌ام، با اين وجود همه نفرينم می‌كنند!»
11خداوند فرمود: «يقين بدان آينده‌ات نيكو خواهد بود؛ مطمئن باش كه دشمن را وادار خواهم ساخت كه به هنگام گرفتاری و بدبختی از تو درخواست كمک نمايد.
12-13«كسی نمی‌تواند ميله‌های آهنی را بشكند، بخصوص آهن سرزمينهای شمال15:12و13 منظور سرزمينهای مجاور دريای سياه می‌باشد که آهن آن از کيفيت مرغوبی برخوردار بود. را كه با مفرغ مخلوط شده باشد؛ همينطور سرسختی اين قوم را نيز كسی نمی‌تواند در هم بشكند! پس به سبب همهٔ گناهانشان در تمام اين سرزمين، ثروت و گنجهايشان را به عنوان غنيمت به دست دشمن خواهم سپرد. 14اجازه خواهم داد تا دشمنانشان ايشان را مانند برده به سرزمينی ببرند كه قبلاً هرگز در آنجا نبوده‌اند؛ زيرا آتش خشم من شعله‌ور شده، ايشان را خواهد سوزاند!»
15آنگاه عرض كردم: «خداوندا، تو می‌دانی به خاطر توست كه اين همه توهين و ناسزا می‌شنوم! پس مرا به ياد آور و از من مراقبت نما! انتقام مرا از آزاردهندگانم بگير؛ نسبت به آنها آنقدر صبور نباش تا موفق شوند مرا بكشند. 16آنچه به من تاب و تحمل می‌دهد، كلام توست كه خوراک روح گرسنهٔ من است؛ كلام تو دل اندوهگين مرا شاد و خرم می‌سازد. ای خداوند قادر متعال، چه افتخار بزرگی است كه نام تو را بر خود دارم! 17در ضيافتهای مردم خوشگذران شركت نكرده‌ام بلكه به دستور تو به تنهايی نشسته از به ياد آوردن گناهان ايشان از خشم لبريز می‌شوم. 18چرا درد من دائمی است؟ چرا زخمهای من التيام نمی‌يابند؟ آيا می‌خواهی مرا نااميد كنی و برای جان تشنهٔ من، سراب باشی؟»
19خداوند جواب داد: «سخنان بيهوده مگو؛ سخنان سنجيده بر زبان بران! فقط زمانی خواهم گذارد پيام‌آور من باشی كه نزد من بازگردی و تماماً به من توكل نمايی؛ در آن صورت به جای آنكه آنها بر تو تأثير بگذارند، تو بر آنها تأثير خواهی گذاشت. 20همانگونه كه تسخير شهری با ديوارهای محكم ميسر نيست، من نيز تو را در برابر آنها مانند ديواری از مفرغ خواهم ساخت؛ آنها با تو خواهند جنگيد، اما پيروز نخواهند شد، چون من با تو هستم تا از تو دفاع كنم و رهايی‌ات دهم. 21بلی، من تو را از چنگ اين اشخاص بدكار بيرون می‌كشم و از شر اين مردم سنگدل نجات می‌دهم.»
