1The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin: 2To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. 3It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.
4Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 5Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.1.5 ordained: Heb. gave 6Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
7¶ But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. 8Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. 9Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. 10See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
11¶ Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. 12Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it. 13And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? 17¶ Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.1.17 confound: or, break to pieces 18For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land. 19And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.

См. пояснительный словарь. возвестил ему Своё слово в тринадцатом году правления иудейского царя Иосии, сына Амона (в 627 г. до н. э.). 3И во времена правления иудейского царя Иоакима, сына Иосии, и далее, вплоть до пятого месяца одиннадцатого года правления иудейского царя Цедекии, сына Иосии, когда жители Иерусалима были взяты в плен вавилонянами (в августе 586 г. до н. э.), Вечный продолжал возвещать Иеремии Своё слово1:2-3 Иосия, Иоаким и Цедекия правили Иудеей в период с 640 по 586 гг. до н. э. Призвание Иеремии
4И было ко мне слово Вечного:
5– Прежде чем Я создал тебя во чреве,
Я уже знал тебя,
прежде чем ты вышел из утробы,
Я избрал тебя;
Я назначил тебя пророком для народов.
6Я ответил:
– Владыка Вечный! Я совсем не речист, ведь я ещё так молод.
7Но Вечный сказал мне:
– Не говори: «Я ещё молод». Ты пойдёшь ко всем, к кому Я пошлю тебя, и будешь говорить всё, что Я повелю тебе. 8Не бойся их, потому что Я с тобой, и Я спасу тебя, – сказал Вечный.
9Вечный простёр руку, коснулся моих уст и сказал мне:
– Вот Я вложил слова Мои в твои уста. 10Смотри, сегодня Я поставлю тебя над народами и царствами, чтобы искоренять и ломать, губить и разрушать, строить и насаждать.
11И было ко мне слово Вечного:
– Что ты видишь, Иеремия?
– Вижу ветку миндального дерева, – ответил я.
12– Верно разглядел, – сказал мне Вечный, – ведь Я наблюдаю1:11-12 На языке оригинала наблюдается игра слов: глагол «наблюдать» (шакад) и «миндальное дерево» (шакед). за тем, чтобы Мои слова исполнились.
13Вновь Вечный спросил меня:
– Что ты видишь?
– Вижу кипящий котёл – он движется с севера, – ответил я.
14– С севера хлынет беда на всех, кто живёт в этой стране, – сказал мне Вечный. – 15Ведь Я призываю все народы северных царств, – возвещает Вечный. –
Они придут, и их цари поставят свои престолы
у ворот Иерусалима,
вокруг всех окружающих его стен,
у всех городов Иудеи.
16Я оглашу приговор Своему народу
за все их злодеяния:
они оставили Меня,
и возжигали благовония чужим богам,
и поклонялись творениям своих рук.
17Соберись! Встань и скажи им всё, что Я повелю тебе. Не бойся их, не то Я сокрушу тебя перед ними. 18Сегодня Я сделал тебя укреплённым городом, железной колонной и бронзовой стеной, чтобы дать отпор всей этой земле – царям Иудеи, вельможам, священнослужителям и народу этой страны. 19Они будут воевать против тебя, но не одолеют, потому что Я с тобой и спасу тебя, – возвещает Вечный.
