1In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. 4¶ Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying, 5Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years. 6And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city. 7And this shall be a sign unto thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that he hath spoken; 8Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. 9¶ The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness: 10I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years. 11I said, I shall not see the LORD, even the LORD, in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world. 12Mine age is departed, and is removed from me as a shepherd’s tent: I have cut off like a weaver my life: he will cut me off with pining sickness: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.38.12 with…: or, from the thrum 13I reckoned till morning, that, as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me. 14Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail with looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me.38.14 undertake…: or, ease me 15What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul. 16O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live. 17Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.38.17 for peace…: or, on my peace came great bitterness38.17 thou hast in…: Heb. thou hast loved my soul from the pit 18For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. 19The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth. 20The LORD was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD. 21For Isaiah had said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaister upon the boil, and he shall recover. 22Hezekiah also had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?
Nagkasakit si Hezekia
(2 Hari 20:1-11; 2 Cro. 32:24-26)
1Nang panahong iyon, nagkasakit si Hezekia na halos ikamatay niya. Pumunta sa kanya si Propeta Isaias na anak ni Amoz at sinabi, “Sinabi ng Panginoon na magbilin ka na sa sambahayan mo dahil hindi ka na gagaling, mamamatay ka na.”
2Nang marinig ito ni Hezekia, humarap siya sa dingding at nanalangin sa Panginoon. 3Sinabi niya, “Panginoon, alalahanin po ninyo kung papaano ako namuhay nang tapat at buong pusong naglingkod sa inyo at kung papaano ako gumawa ng mabuti sa paningin ninyo.” At umiyak siya ng husto.
4Sinabi ng Panginoon kay Isaias 5na bumalik siya kay Hezekia at sabihin ito: “Sinabi ng Panginoon, ang Dios ng iyong ninunong si David: Narinig ko ang iyong dalangin at nakita ko ang mga luha mo. Dadagdagan ko pa ng 15 taon ang buhay mo. 6Ililigtas kita pati ang lungsod na ito sa hari ng Asiria. Ipagtatanggol ko ang lungsod na ito. 7Ito ang tanda na aking ibibigay para patunayang gagawin ko ang ipinangako kong ito: 8Pababalikin ko ng sampung guhit ang anino ng araw sa orasang ipinagawa ni Ahaz.” At nangyari nga ito.
9Ito ang isinulat ni Haring Hezekia ng Juda nang gumaling siya sa kanyang sakit: 10Akala koʼy mamamatay na ako sa panahon ng aking kabataan, at mananatili sa lugar ng mga patay. 11Akala koʼy hindi ko na makikita ang Panginoon dito sa mundo ng mga buhay o hindi ko na makikita ang mga tao rito sa mundo. 12Muntik nang nawala ang buhay ko na parang tolda ng mga pastol ng mga tupa na iniligpit. Ang akala koʼy mapuputol na ang buhay ko na parang telang puputulin na sa habihan. Mula sa umaga hanggang gabi ay inaakala kong wawakasan mo na ang buhay ko. 13Buong pagpapakumbaba akong naghintay hanggang umaga sa pag-aakalang mamamatay na ako. Parang nilalansag ng leon ang aking mga buto kaya akala koʼy wawakasan mo na ang buhay ko. 14Humingi ako ng tulong hanggang sa ang tinig koʼy para nang huni ng langay-langayan o ng tagak. Dumaing ako na parang tinig na ng kalapati. Ang mga mata koʼy pagod na rin ng katititig sa itaas. Panginoon, tulungan nʼyo po ako sa kahirapang ito.
15Pero ano pa ang masasabi ko? Sapagkat sinagot niya ako at pinagaling. Mamumuhay ako nang may kapakumbabaan dahil sa mapait kong karanasan.
16Panginoon, sa ginawa nʼyo pong ito, mapapalakas nʼyo ang loob ng tao, at ako mismo napalakas ninyo. Pinagaling nʼyo ako at pinayagan pang mabuhay. 17Totoong ang mga kahirapang aking tiniis ay para rin sa aking kabutihan. Dahil sa pag-ibig nʼyo, iniligtas nʼyo ako sa kapahamakan at pinatawad nʼyo ang aking mga kasalanan. 18Sapagkat papaano pa akong makakapagpuri sa inyo kung patay na ako? Ang mga patay ay hindi makakapagpuri sa inyo o makakaasa man sa inyong katapatan. 19Ang mga buhay lamang ang makakapagpuri sa inyo katulad ng ginagawa ko ngayon. Ang bawat henerasyon ay magpapahayag sa susunod na henerasyon tungkol sa inyong katapatan. 20Panginoon, iniligtas nʼyo po ako, kaya sa saliw ng tugtog, aawit kami sa inyong templo habang kami ay nabubuhay.
21Noong hindi pa gumagaling si Hezekia, sinabi sa kanya ni Isaias na patapalan niya sa kanyang mga katulong ng dinikdik na bunga ng igos ang bukol niya para gumaling. 22Nagtanong si Hezekia, “Ano ang palatandaan na magpapatunay na ako ngaʼy gagaling at makakapunta sa templo ng Panginoon?”
