5¶ For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust. 6The foot shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy. 7The way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just. 8Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee. 9With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. 10Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD. 11LORD, when thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy at the people; yea, the fire of thine enemies shall devour them.26.11 at…: or, toward thy people

Juda lovsjunger Herren
1På den dagen ska man i Juda land sjunga denna sång:
Vi har en stark stad,
och han sätter upp murar och vallar till vår räddning.
2Öppna portarna,
så att ett rättfärdigt folk kan komma in,
ett folk som förblir troget.
3Den som är uthållig i sitt sinne
ger du fullkomlig frid,
därför att han förtröstar på dig.
4Förtrösta alltid på Herren,
för Herren, Herren är den eviga klippan.
5Han ödmjukar dem som bor där uppe
i den högt belägna staden.
Han slår ner den, jämnar den med marken,
krossar den till grus.
6Den trampas ner
under de fattigas och svagas fötter.
7Den rättfärdiges väg är jämn.
Du, den Rättsinnige,
har jämnat ut den rättfärdiges stig.
8På dina bestämmelsers väg
står vårt hopp till dig, Herre.
Vi längtar efter ditt namn och din ära.
9Om natten längtar jag efter dig,
anden i mig söker dig.
När dina domar kommer över jorden

och bryr sig inte om Herrens majestät.
11Herre, din hand är lyft,
men de ser det inte.
Låt dem se din lidelse för ditt folk
och skämmas.
Låt dem brinna i den eld
som är avsedd för dina fiender!
12Herre, ge oss en varaktig fred.
Allt vi gör kommer från dig.
13Herre, vår Gud,
andra herrar har härskat över oss,
men endast ditt namn vill vi ära.
14De döda får inte liv igen,

Så har du straffat dem,
förgjort dem,
utplånat hela minnet av dem.
15Du har gjort folket stort, Herre,
du har gjort folket stort.
Du har gjort det till din ära,

16Herre, i sin nöd sökte de dig.
När ditt straff kom över dem, viskade de en bön.
17Som en kvinna som ska föda
skriker i födslovåndor,
så var det med oss
inför dig, Herre.
18Vi var havande och våndades
men födde vind.
Vi förde ingen räddning till jorden,

19Dina döda ska bli levande igen,
deras kroppar ska uppstå.
Vakna upp och ropa av glädje,
ni som vilar i mullen!
För din dagg är som morgonens dagg,

tills vreden är över.
21Se! Herren kommer från sin boning
för att straffa jordens folk för deras synd.
Jorden ska blotta sina blodsskulder
och inte längre dölja sina dräpta.
