17¶ And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre, and she shall turn to her hire, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth. 18And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.23.18 durable: Heb. old

1Profetia om Tyros:
Klaga, ni skepp från Tarshish,

2Tig, ni invånare i kustländerna
och köpmän från Sidon,
som gjort sig så rika på sjöfarten.
3Över vattnen kom säd från Shichor
och från skördar vid Nilen
som gav god vinst,
och Tyros blev en marknadsplats för nationer.
4Du får skämmas, Sidon,
du havets fästning,
för havet säger:
”Jag har inte haft någon födslovånda,
inte fött barn,
inte fött upp ynglingar
eller fostrat flickor.”
5När Egypten får höra nyheten,
ängslas de, som över nyheten om Tyros.
6Bege er till Tarshish,
och klaga, ni som bor vid kusten!
7Är detta er glada stad från flydda tider,
vars invånare har gett sig av långt bort
och befolkat avlägsna länder?
8Vem har planerat detta för Tyros,
drottningen som delade ut kronor,
vars köpmän var furstar,
vars affärsmän var stormän på jorden?
9Härskarornas Herre har planlagt detta
för att krossa den stolta prakten
och för att ödmjuka alla jordens stormän.
10Gå vidare i ditt land, likt Nilen, Tarshish dotter,

11Han har räckt ut sin hand över havet
och fått riken att skaka.
Herren har gett en befallning
att Kanaans fästningar ska krossas.
12Han sa:
”Aldrig mer ska du glädjas,
Sidon, du kränkta oskuld.
Res dig och dra till kittéernas land23:12 Cypern.,
men inte heller där ska du få någon ro.”
13Se på kaldéerna,
detta folk som inte mer finns,
vars land Assyrierna har gett till ökendjur.
De reste belägringstorn,
rev ner dess palats
och lade det i ruiner.23:13 Grundtextens innebörd är osäker.
14Klaga, ni Tarshish-skepp,
för er fästning är förstörd!
15På den tiden ska Tyros falla i glömska under sjuttio år, lika länge som en kungs tid. Efter de sjuttio åren ska det ske med Tyros som i visan om den prostituerade:
16”Ta din harpa och vandra genom staden,
du bortglömda sköka.
Spela vackert och sjung så
att man kommer ihåg dig!”
17Efter de sjuttio åren ska Herren ta sig an Tyros. Men än en gång ska hon sälja sig som en prostituerad och bedriva otukt med alla jordens riken över hela världen. 18Men det som hon nu tjänar ska helgas åt Herren, inte läggas undan eller lagras, utan hela förtjänsten ska gå till dem som bor inför Herren, för att de ska ha nog med mat och praktfulla kläder.
