1And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beer-sheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac. 2And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I. 3And he said, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation: 4I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee up again: and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes.
5And Jacob rose up from Beer-sheba: and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him. 6And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him: 7His sons, and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters, and his sons’ daughters, and all his seed brought he with him into Egypt.
8¶ And these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn. 9And the sons of Reuben; Hanoch, and Phallu, and Hezron, and Carmi.
10¶ And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman.46.10 Jemuel: or, Nemuel46.10 Jachin: or, Jarib46.10 Zohar: or, Zerah

14¶ And the sons of Zebulun; Sered, and Elon, and Jahleel. 15These be the sons of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob in Padan-aram, with his daughter Dinah: all the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty and three.

17¶ And the sons of Asher; Jimnah, and Ishuah, and Isui, and Beriah, and Serah their sister: and the sons of Beriah; Heber, and Malchiel. 18These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter, and these she bare unto Jacob, even sixteen souls. 19The sons of Rachel Jacob’s wife; Joseph, and Benjamin.
20¶ And unto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, which Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On bare unto him.46.20 priest: or, prince

24¶ And the sons of Naphtali; Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem. 25These are the sons of Bilhah, which Laban gave unto Rachel his daughter, and she bare these unto Jacob: all the souls were seven. 26All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob’s sons’ wives, all the souls were threescore and six;46.26 loins: Heb. thigh 27And the sons of Joseph, which were born him in Egypt, were two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, were threescore and ten.
28¶ And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen. 29And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while. 30And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive. 31And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father’s house, I will go up, and shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father’s house, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me; 32And the men are shepherds, for their trade hath been to feed cattle; and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.46.32 their trade…: Heb. they are men of cattle 33And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation? 34That ye shall say, Thy servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.
Jacob viaja a Egipto
1Israel emprendió el viaje con todas sus pertenencias. Al llegar a Berseba, ofreció sacrificios al Dios de su padre Isaac. 2Esa noche Dios le habló a Israel en una visión:
―¡Jacob! ¡Jacob!
―Aquí estoy —respondió.
3―Yo soy Dios, el Dios de tu padre —le dijo—. No tengas temor de ir a Egipto, porque allí haré de ti una gran nación. 4Yo te acompañaré a Egipto, y yo mismo haré que vuelvas. Además, cuando mueras, será José quien te cierre los ojos.
5Luego Jacob salió de Berseba, y los hijos de Israel hicieron que su padre Jacob, y sus hijos y sus mujeres, subieran en los carros que el faraón había enviado para trasladarlos. 6También se llevaron el ganado y las posesiones que habían adquirido en Canaán. Fue así como Jacob y sus descendientes llegaron a Egipto. 7Con él se llevó a todos sus hijos, hijas, nietos y nietas, es decir, a todos sus descendientes.
8Estos son los nombres de los israelitas que fueron a Egipto, es decir, Jacob y sus hijos:
Rubén, el primogénito de Jacob.
9Los hijos de Rubén: Janoc, Falú, Jezrón y Carmí.
10Los hijos de Simeón: Jemuel, Jamín, Oad, Jaquín, Zojar y Saúl, hijo de una cananea.
11Los hijos de Leví: Guersón, Coat y Merari.
12Los hijos de Judá: Er, Onán, Selá, Fares y Zera. (Er y Onán habían muerto en Canaán).
Los hijos de Fares: Jezrón y Jamul.
13Los hijos de Isacar: Tola, Fuvá, Job y Simrón.
14Los hijos de Zabulón: Séred, Elón y Yalel.
15Estos fueron los hijos que Jacob tuvo con Lea en Padán Aram,46:15 Padán Aram. Es decir, el noroeste de Mesopotamia. además de su hija Dina. En total, entre hombres y mujeres eran treinta y tres personas.
16Los hijos de Gad: Zefón, Jaguí, Esbón, Suni, Erí, Arodí y Arelí.
17Los hijos de Aser: Imná, Isvá, Isví, Beriá y su hermana, que se llamaba Sera.
Los hijos de Beriá: Héber y Malquiel.
18Estos fueron los hijos que Zilpá tuvo con Jacob. Zilpá era la esclava que Labán le había regalado a su hija Lea. Sus descendientes eran en total dieciséis personas.
19Los hijos de Raquel, la esposa de Jacob: José y Benjamín.
20En Egipto, José tuvo los siguientes hijos con Asenat, hija de Potifera, sacerdote de On: Manasés y Efraín.
21Los hijos de Benjamín: Bela, Béquer, Asbel, Guerá, Naamán, Ehí, Ros, Mupín, Jupín y Ard.
22Estos fueron los descendientes de Jacob y Raquel, en total catorce personas.
23El hijo de Dan: Jusín.
24Los hijos de Neftalí: Yazel, Guní, Jéser y Silén.
25Estos fueron los hijos que Jacob tuvo con Bilhá. Ella era la esclava que Labán le regaló a su hija Raquel. El total de sus descendientes fue de siete personas.
26Todos los familiares de Jacob que llegaron a Egipto, y que eran de su misma sangre, fueron sesenta y seis, sin contar a las nueras. 27José tenía dos hijos que le nacieron en Egipto. En total, los familiares de Jacob que llegaron a Egipto fueron setenta.
28Jacob mandó a Judá que se adelantara para que le anunciara a José su llegada y este lo recibiera en Gosén. Cuando llegaron a esa región, 29José hizo que prepararan su carruaje, y salió a Gosén para recibir a su padre Israel. Cuando se encontraron, José se fundió con su padre en un abrazo, y durante un largo rato lloró sobre su hombro. 30Entonces Israel le dijo a José:
―¡Ya me puedo morir! ¡Te he visto y aún estás con vida!
31José les dijo a sus hermanos y a la familia de su padre:
―Voy a informar al faraón de que mis hermanos y la familia de mi padre, quienes vivían en Canaán, han venido a quedarse conmigo. 32Le diré que vosotros sois pastores que cuidáis ganado, y que habéis traído vuestras ovejas y vuestras vacas, y todo cuanto teníais. 33Por eso, cuando el faraón os llame y os pregunte a qué os dedicáis, 34decidle que siempre os habéis ocupado de cuidar ganado, al igual que vuestros antepasados. Así podréis estableceros en la región de Gosén, pues los egipcios detestan el oficio de pastor.
