13¶ Then Tatnai, governor on this side the river, Shethar-boznai, and their companions, according to that which Darius the king had sent, so they did speedily. 14And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. 16¶ And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy,6.16 the children of the captivity: Chaldee, the sons of the transportation 17And offered at the dedication of this house of God an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel. 18And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses.6.18 as it is…: Chaldee, according to the writing 19And the children of the captivity kept the passover upon the fourteenth day of the first month. 20For the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves. 21And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the LORD God of Israel, did eat, 22And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the LORD had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

3В первый год правления царя Кира, царь отдал повеление о храме Всевышнего в Иерусалиме:
Пусть храм – место, где приносятся жертвы и сжигаются всесожжения, – будет отстроен, и пусть будут заложены его основания. Пусть он будет тридцать метров в высоту и тридцать метров6:3 Букв.: «шестьдесят локтей». в ширину, 4с тремя рядами из больших камней и одним – из дерева. Расходы пусть будут оплачены из царской казны. 5А ещё, пусть золотые и серебряные вещи дома Всевышнего, которые Навуходоносор забрал из Иерусалимского храма и принёс в Вавилон, вернутся на своё место в Иерусалимский храм и пусть их поместят в доме Всевышнего.
6Итак, Таттенай, наместник провинции за Евфратом, Шетар-Бознай и вы, их сподвижники, чиновники этой провинции, держитесь подальше. 7Не вмешивайтесь в работу над этим храмом Всевышнего. Пусть иудейский наместник и старейшины иудеев отстраивают этот дом Всевышнего на его прежнем месте.
8Более того, я даю повеление о том, чем вы должны помогать этим старейшинам иудеев в постройке этого дома Всевышнего: расходы этих людей следует полностью оплатить из царской казны, из доходов провинции за Евфратом, чтобы работа не останавливалась. 9Всё, что бы ни потребовалось: тельцы, бараны, ягнята для всесожжений Богу небесному, пшеница, соль, вино и масло, как скажут священнослужители из Иерусалима, должно выдаваться им ежедневно без промедления, 10чтобы они могли приносить жертвы, угодные Богу небесному, и молиться о благополучии царя и его сыновей.
11Я даю и такое повеление, что если кто-нибудь изменит этот указ, то пусть из его дома вынут кол и посадят его на него. Пусть его дом за это преступление будет превращён в груду развалин. 12Пусть Бог, Которого там почитают, низложит всякого царя или народ, которые поднимут руку, чтобы изменить этот указ или разрушить этот Иерусалимский храм.
Так повелел я, Дарий. Да будет исполнено это со всем усердием.
Завершение строительства храма и его освящение
13И наместник провинции за Евфратом Таттенай, Шетар-Бознай и их сподвижники со всем старанием исполнили то, что повелел царь Дарий. 14И старейшины иудеев продолжали строить и преуспевали в то самое время, когда пророчествовали пророки Аггей и Закария, внук Иддо. Они завершили строительство храма по повелению Бога Исраила и указам Кира, Дария и Артаксеркса, царей Персии. 15Строительство храма было завершено на третий день месяца адара, в шестой год правления царя Дария (12 марта 515 г. до н. э.).
16И весь народ Исраила – священнослужители, левиты и все остальные, возвратившиеся из плена, – радостно отпраздновали освящение дома Всевышнего. 17Для освящения этого дома Всевышнего они принесли в жертву сто быков, двести баранов, четыреста ягнят и в жертву за грех всего Исраила – двенадцать козлов, по одному за каждый исраильский род. 18Затем они назначили для служения Всевышнему в Иерусалиме священнослужителей по их отделениям и левитов по их группам, как предписано в Таурате, книге Мусы.
Праздник Освобождения
19В четырнадцатый день первого месяца (21 апреля 515 г. до н. э.) возвратившиеся из плена отметили праздник Освобождения6:19 Праздник Освобождения – этот праздник отмечался в память об избавлении иудейского народа под руководством пророка Мусы из Египетского рабства (см. Исх. 12; 13:17-22; 14; Втор. 16:1-8).. 20Священнослужители и левиты очистились, и все были ритуально чисты. Левиты закололи ягнёнка, предназначенного в жертву на праздник Освобождения для всех возвратившихся из плена, для своих собратьев-священнослужителей и для самих себя. 21И исраильтяне, вернувшиеся из плена, ели вместе со всеми теми, кто удалился от нечистых обычаев своих соседей-язычников, чтобы прибегать к помощи Вечного, Бога Исраила. 22Семь дней они радостно отмечали праздник Пресных хлебов6:22 Праздник Пресных хлебов – этот праздник шёл сразу же за праздником Освобождения и длился семь дней. В эти дни предписывалось есть только пресный хлеб (см. Исх. 12:15-20; 13:3-10; Лев. 23:6-8; Чис. 28:17-25)., потому что Вечный наполнил их радостью, расположив к ним царя Ассирии6:22 Персидский царь Дарий назван здесь царём Ассирии потому, что Персия завоевала Вавилонскую империю, которая, в свою очередь, завоевала Ассирию. так, что тот стал помогать им в работе над домом Всевышнего, Бога Исраила.
