1Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,1.1 made…: Heb. caused a voice to pass 2Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. 3Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem. 4And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.1.4 help…: Heb. lift him up
5¶ Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem. 6And all they that were about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all that was willingly offered.1.6 strengthened…: that is, helped them
7¶ Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods; 8Even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah. 9And this is the number of them: thirty chargers of gold, a thousand chargers of silver, nine and twenty knives, 10Thirty basons of gold, silver basons of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels a thousand. 11All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. 1В первый год правления Куруша1:1 Куруш II Великий, основатель Персидского государства Ахменидов, правил с 558 по 530 гг. до н. э. В 539 г. покорил Вавилон и Месопотамию. Куруш погиб во время похода в Центральную Азию от руки сакской царицы Томирис., царя Персии (в 538 г. до н. э.), чтобы исполнилось слово Вечного1:1 Вечный – на языке оригинала: «Яхве». Под этим именем Всевышний открылся Мусо и народу Исроила (см. Исх. 3:13-15). См. пояснительный словарь., которое возвестил Иеремия1:1 См. Иер. 29:10-14., Вечный побудил Куруша, царя Персии, объявить по всему своему царству и записать такой указ:
2«Так говорит Куруш, царь Персии: Вечный, Бог небес, отдал мне все царства земли и поручил мне построить Ему храм в Иерусалиме, в Иудее. 3Всякий из вас, кто принадлежит к Его народу, – да будет с ним его Бог! – может отправляться в Иерусалим, в Иудею, и строить храм Вечного, Бога Исроила, Бога, Который в Иерусалиме. 4И пусть жители тех мест, где сейчас живут уцелевшие иудеи, снабдят их серебром и золотом, имуществом и скотом и добровольными пожертвованиями для храма Всевышнего в Иерусалиме».
5И главы семейств из родов Иуды и Вениамина со священнослужителями и левитами – всякий, кого побудил Всевышний, – стали собираться, чтобы пойти и отстроить дом Вечного в Иерусалиме. 6Все их соседи помогли им серебряными и золотыми вещами, имуществом и скотом и дорогими дарами, не считая всех добровольных пожертвований. 7Сам царь Куруш вынес утварь храма Вечного, которую Навуходоносор1:7 Царь Навуходоносор II, самый великий царь Нововавилонской империи, правил с 605 по 562 гг. до н. э. забрал из Иерусалима и положил в храме своего бога1:7 Или: «своих богов».. 8Куруш, царь Персии, вверил их хранителю сокровищницы Митредату, который по счёту выдал их Шешбацару, вождю Иудеи.

11Всего золотых и серебряных предметов было пять тысяч четыреста. Когда переселенцы отправлялись из Вавилона в Иерусалим, Шешбацар взял всё это с собой.
