11¶ Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 12Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon; 13And hath taken of the king’s seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:17.13 taken an…: Heb. brought him to an oath 14That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.17.14 but…: Heb. to keep his covenant, to stand to it 15But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered? 16As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die. 17Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons: 18Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape. 19Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head. 20And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me. 21And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.
22¶ Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent: 23In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell. 24And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.
Das Gleichnis vom Weinstock und den Adlern
1Da empfing ich wieder eine Botschaft vom Herrn. Er sprach zu mir: 2»Du Mensch, gib dem Volk Israel ein Rätsel auf, erzähl ihnen ein Gleichnis! 3Richte ihnen aus, was ich, Gott, der Herr, ihnen zu sagen habe: Ein großer Adler mit mächtigen Schwingen und dichtem, buntem Gefieder flog auf den Libanon. Dort riss er den Wipfel einer Zeder ab, 4brachte den obersten Zweig in ein Land, in dem es viele Kaufleute gab, und dort in eine Händlerstadt. 5Dann holte er einen Steckling aus dem Land Israel und flog damit zu einem fruchtbaren Feld, das an einem Fluss lag. Nahe am Wasser pflanzte der Adler den Steckling ein. 6Aus ihm sollte ein breit wuchernder, aber niedrig wachsender Weinstock werden. Seine Ranken sollte er dem Adler entgegenstrecken und seine Wurzeln tief in die Erde wachsen lassen. So wurde aus dem Steckling tatsächlich ein Weinstock, der kräftige Ranken und immer neue Triebe bildete.
7Doch dann kam ein anderer großer Adler mit weiten Schwingen und dichtem Gefieder. Und siehe da: Der Weinstock drehte seine Wurzeln diesem Adler zu und streckte ihm seine Ranken entgegen. Er hoffte, der Adler würde ihm Wasser geben – mehr als das Feld, in das er gepflanzt worden war. 8Dabei hatte er doch guten Boden und reichlich Wasser. Er hätte Zweige treiben und Früchte tragen können und wäre zu einem prächtigen Weinstock geworden.
9Ich, Gott, der Herr, frage euch Israeliten: Wird der Weinstock jetzt noch gedeihen? Wird man ihn nicht mitsamt den Wurzeln ausreißen und seine Trauben abpflücken, so dass alle grünen Triebe verdorren? Dazu braucht man nicht viel Kraft, und nicht viele Menschen müssen mit anpacken! 10Der fruchtbare Boden hilft dann auch nichts mehr! Der Weinstock wird dort vertrocknen, sobald der heiße Ostwind ihn trifft, ja, völlig verdorren wird er.«
11Weiter sprach der Herr zu mir: 12»Frag das widerspenstige Volk, ob sie dieses Gleichnis denn nicht verstehen. Dann erklär du es ihnen: Gemeint ist der babylonische König, der mit seinem Heer in Jerusalem einfiel. Er nahm den König von Juda und seine Beamten gefangen und verschleppte sie in sein Land. 13Mit einem Nachkommen der königlichen Familie schloss er ein Bündnis und ließ ihn die Treue schwören. Die mächtigen und einflussreichen Männer des Volkes nahm er gefangen, 14um das Land Juda mit dem neuen König klein und schwach zu halten. Er wollte verhindern, dass man einen Aufstand gegen ihn anzettelte und den Treueeid brach. 15Aber der König von Juda lehnte sich gegen den König von Babylonien auf und schickte Boten nach Ägypten, um von dort Pferde und Soldaten zu bekommen. Wird ihm das gelingen? Soll er ungestraft davonkommen? Nein! Er kann sich nicht über seinen Treueeid hinwegsetzen und dann ohne Strafe bleiben!
16Ich, Gott, der Herr, schwöre, so wahr ich lebe: Weil er seinen Schwur gebrochen hat, wird er in Babylon sterben, am Hof des Königs, der ihm die Herrschaft über Juda anvertraut hatte. 17Auch der Pharao aus Ägypten wird ihm nicht mit einem großen Heer zu Hilfe kommen, wenn die Babylonier einen Belagerungswall um Jerusalem aufschütten und Angriffsrampen bauen, um die vielen Menschen in der Stadt zu vernichten. 18Denn der König von Juda hat sein Versprechen nicht gehalten, obwohl er sich mit Handschlag dazu verpflichtet hatte. Er wird nicht mit dem Leben davonkommen. 19Ich, Gott, der Herr, schwöre, so wahr ich lebe: Weil er sich über den Bund hinwegsetzt, den er vor mir geschlossen hat, weil er den Eid bricht, den er in meinem Namen geschworen hat, darum lasse ich ihn die Folgen tragen. 20Ich werfe mein Netz über ihn, und er wird sich darin verfangen. Ich bringe ihn nach Babylon, und dort halte ich Gericht über ihn, weil er mir die Treue gebrochen hat. 21Auch wenn seine Soldaten versuchen zu fliehen, werden doch die meisten von ihnen durchs Schwert fallen, und die Überlebenden werden in alle Winde zerstreut. Dann erkennt ihr, dass ich euch nicht umsonst gewarnt habe.
22Aber nun verkünde ich, Gott, der Herr: Ich selbst werde einen zarten Zweig aus dem Wipfel einer hohen Zeder brechen und ihn auf einem Berg einpflanzen, der alles rundherum überragt. 23Ja, auf Israels erhabenstem Berg setze ich ihn in die Erde. Dort treibt er neue Zweige, trägt Früchte und wird zu einer prächtigen Zeder. Vögel aller Art werden in seinen Zweigen wohnen und dort Schatten finden. 24Dann werden alle Bäume in Israel erkennen, dass ich, der Herr, den hohen Baum niedrig mache, den niedrigen aber hoch. Ich lasse den grünen Baum verdorren, den dürren aber lasse ich grün werden. Ich, der Herr, habe es angekündigt und werde es auch so eintreffen lassen!«
