1And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel; 3And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:17.3 divers…: Heb. embroidering 4He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffick; he set it in a city of merchants. 5He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree.17.5 planted…: Heb. put it in a field of seed 6And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs. 7There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation. 8It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.17.8 soil: Heb. field 9Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof. 10Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.
11¶ Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 12Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon; 13And hath taken of the king’s seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:17.13 taken an…: Heb. brought him to an oath 14That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.17.14 but…: Heb. to keep his covenant, to stand to it 15But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered? 16As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die. 17Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons: 18Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape. 19Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head. 20And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me. 21And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.
22¶ Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent: 23In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell. 24And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.
Ang Sambingay bahin sa mga Agila ug sa Ubas
1Miingon ang Ginoo kanako, 2“Tawo, isugilon kini nga sambingay ngadto sa katawhan sa Israel, 3ug ingna sila nga ako, ang Ginoo nga Dios, ang nagaingon niini: May usa ka dakong agila nga milupad paingon sa Lebanon. Lapad ang iyang mga pako ug baga ang iyang mga balhibo nga lain-lain ug kolor. Mitugdon kini sa tumoy sa kahoy nga sedro, 4ug giputol niini ang udlot sa kinatumyan nga sanga. Unya gidala niya kini sa dapit sa mga negosyante ug gitanom didto.
5“Pagkahuman nagkuha ang agila ug liso gikan sa yuta sa Israel ug gitanom kini sa tambok nga yuta sa daplin sa suba diin paspas kini nga mitubo. 6Mitubo kini nga usa ka tanom nga mokatay. Ang mga sanga niini mikatay paingon sa agila, ug nanggamot kini ug lawom. Nahimo kini nga bagon ug nananga pa kini pag-ayo ug milabong.
7“Apan may lain nga dakong agila nga miabot. Lagpad kini ug mga pako ug baga usab ang iyang balhibo. Ang mga gamot ug mga sanga sa tanom mikatay paingon niini nga agila aron matubigan kini sa agila labaw pa sa yuta nga gitamnan niini. 8Gihimo kini sa tanom bisan ug natanom na kini sa maayo nga yuta, diin may abundang tubig nga makahatag kaniyag maayo nga pagtubo, makapabunga, ug magpatahom kaniya.
9“Karon, ako, ang Ginoo nga Dios mangutana, ‘Makapadayon ba kini sa pagtubo? Dili! Ibton kini ug kuhaon ang iyang mga bunga, ug pasagdan nga malaya. Dili na magkinahanglan ug kusgan nga tawo o daghang mga tawo sa pag-ibot niini. 10Bisan itanom pa kini pag-usab sa laing dapit dili gihapon kini motubo. Malaya kini sa hingpit kon huypon sa init nga hangin gikan sa sidlakan. Malaya kini diha sa iyang gituboan.’ ”
Ang Kahulogan sa Sambingay
11Unya miingon ang Ginoo kanako, 12“Pangutan-a kini nga masinupakon nga katawhan sa Israel kon nahibalo ba sila kon unsa ang kahulogan niadtong sambingay. Ingna sila nga mao kini ang kahulogan: Miadto ang hari sa Babylon ngadto sa Jerusalem ug gibihag niya ang hari ug mga opisyal niini, ug gidala sa Babylon. 13Nagpili siyag usa sa mga kaliwat sa hari sa Juda ug naghimo siyag kasabotan kaniya ug gipapanumpa niya kini nga mag-alagad kaniya. Gibihag usab niya ang mga kadagkoan sa Juda 14aron kini nga gingharian dili na makabangon pag-usab ug dili na makasukol kaniya. Makahimo lang sa pagpabilin kini nga gingharian kon padayon kini nga motuman sa iyang kasabotan sa Babylon. 15Apan misukol ang hari sa Juda sa hari sa Babylon pinaagi sa pagpadala ug mga tawo ngadto sa Ehipto sa paghangyog mga kabayo ug daghang mga sundalo. Molampos ba siya? Makaikyas ba siya ug makalingkawas gikan sa silot sa iyang paglapas sa iyang kasabotan sa Babylon? 16Dili! Kay ako, ang Ginoo nga Dios nga buhi, nanumpa nga kini nga hari sa Juda sigurado gayong mamatay sa Babylon, kay gilapas niya ang kasabotan nga iyang gipanumpaan ngadto sa hari sa Babylon nga mao ang naghimo kaniya nga hari. 17Dili makatabang kaniya sa pagpakiggubat ang hari sa Ehipto17:17 hari sa Ehipto: sa Hebreo, Faraon. ug ang daghan ug gamhanan niini nga mga sundalo kon mosulong na17:17 kon mosulong na: sa literal, kon magpundok na ug yuta nga sakaanan sa paril ug maghimog mga tore-tore. ang mga taga-Babylon sa pagpamatay sa daghang mga tawo. 18Tungod kay gibale-wala niya ang iyang gipanumpaan, ug wala niya tumana ang kasabotan, dili gyud siya makalingkawas.
19“Busa ako, ang Ginoo nga Dios nga buhi, nanumpa nga silotan ko gyud siya tungod kay gilapas niya ang akong kasabotan nga iyang gipanumpaan sa akong ngalan. 20Lit-agon ko siya ug dad-on sa Babylon, ug didto silotan ko siya tungod sa iyang pagbudhi kanako. 21Ang mga sundalo niya nga nagaikyas, mangamatay. Ang mga mahibilin magkatibulaag sa bisan asang dapit. Unya mahibaloan ninyo nga ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagaingon niini.”
Ang Maayong Ugma nga Gisaad sa Dios
22-23Mipadayon sa pag-ingon ang Ginoo nga Dios, “Magkuha akog udlot sa kinatumyan sa sanga sa usa ka kahoy nga sedro, ug itanom ko kini didto sa kinatumyan sa kinatas-ang bukid sa Israel. Mananga kini ug mamunga, ug mahimo nga usa ka matahom nga kahoy nga sedro. Magasalag sa maong kahoy ang tanang matang sa langgam, ug makasilong sila sa landong sa mga sanga niini. 24Ug ang tanang mga kahoy sa yuta makahibalo nga ako mao ang Ginoo nga nagaputol sa tag-as nga mga kahoy ug nagapataas sa mga mugbong kahoy. Ako usab ang nagapalaya sa labong nga mga kahoy ug nagabuhi pag-usab sa mga layang kahoy. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagasaad niini, ug tumanon ko gyud kini.”
