4¶ And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.1.4 infolding…: Heb. catching itself 5Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. 15¶ Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces. 16The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel. 17When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went. 18As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.1.18 and their rings: or, and their strakes 19And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up. 20Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.1.20 of…: or, of life 21When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.1.21 of…: or, of life 22And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above. 23And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies. 24And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings. 25And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.
26¶ And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. 27And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. 28As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

4M‑am uitat și iată că un vânt năprasnic venea dinspre nord: era un nor mare și un foc strălucitor care scânteia de jur împrejur. La mijloc, în mijlocul focului, era ceva ca metalul lustruit.4 Sau: ca strălucirea chihlimbarului. 5În mijlocul lui se afla ceva asemănător cu patru ființe vii, a căror înfățișare era ca înfățișarea unui om. 6Fiecare avea câte patru fețe și câte patru aripi. 7Picioarele lor erau drepte, iar talpa picioarelor lor era asemenea copitei unui vițel, strălucind ca bronzul lustruit. 8Sub aripile lor, pe fiecare din cele patru părți, se afla câte o mână de om. Toate cele patru ființe vii aveau fețe și aripi. 9Aripile lor se atingeau una pe alta, astfel încât nu se răsuceau în mers, ci, când mergeau, fiecare mergea drept înainte.
10Înfățișarea fețelor lor era astfel: în partea dinainte, fiecare avea o față de om; în partea dreaptă, cele patru aveau o față de leu; în partea stângă, cele patru aveau o față de bou, iar în partea din spate, cele patru aveau o față de vultur. 11Așa arătau fețele lor. Aripile le erau întinse în sus; fiecare avea două aripi, cu care atingea aripile celor de lângă ea, și alte două aripi cu care își acoperea trupul. 12Fiecare mergea drept înainte: mergeau într-acolo unde le arăta duhul să meargă, iar în mersul lor, nu se întorceau. 13Asemănarea ființelor vii, înfățișarea lor, era ca niște cărbuni de foc aprinși, ca asemănarea unor torțe; focul umbla încoace și încolo printre ființele vii. Focul avea strălucire și din foc ieșeau fulgere. 14Ființele vii alergau și se întorceau, ca înfățișarea fulgerului.
15Mă uitam la acele ființe vii și iată că pe pământ, în apropierea fiecărei ființe vii, se afla câte o roată, în total patru, câte una pentru fiecare față. 16Înfățișarea roților și lucrătura lor era ca aspectul crisolitului. Cele patru aveau aceeași asemănare; înfățișarea și lucrătura lor era asemenea unei roți în mijlocul altei roți. 17În timpul deplasării, ele puteau merge în toate cele patru direcții, fără să‑și schimbe direcția în timpul mersului. 18Obezile lor erau înalte și stârneau teamă; obezile celor patru erau pline de ochi de jur împrejur.
19Când mergeau ființele vii, mergeau și roțile pe lângă ele, iar când se ridicau ființele vii de la pământ, se ridicau și roțile. 20De aceea ființele vii mergeau acolo unde le punea duhul să meargă, încotro le îndruma duhul să meargă, iar roțile se ridicau să li se alăture, deoarece duhul ființelor vii era în roți. 21Când ele mergeau, mergeau și acestea; când ele se opreau, se opreau și acestea; iar când ele se ridicau de la pământ, se ridicau și roțile odată cu ele, deoarece duhul făpturilor era în roți.
22Deasupra capetelor acestor ființe vii se afla ceva asemănător unei întinderi22-23, 25-26 Sau: firmament. de cristal strălucitor, care se răspândea în înălțime, deasupra capetelor lor. 23Dedesubtul întinderii, aripile le stăteau întinse, una spre cealaltă, fiecare ființă vie având câte două aripi cu care se acoperea. 24Când porneau, am auzit zgomotul aripilor lor ca vuietul unor ape mari, asemenea glasului Celui Atotputernic24 Ebr.: Șadai, asemenea vuietului unei furtuni, asemenea zgomotului unei tabere. Când ele se opreau, aripile lor se lăsau în jos.

De jur împrejurul lui era o lumină strălucitoare. 28Asemenea curcubeului din nor în ziua ploioasă, așa era înfățișarea strălucirii de jur împrejur. Ea era înfățișarea asemănării slavei Domnului. Când am văzut‑o, m‑am aruncat cu fața la pământ și am auzit glasul Unuia Care vorbea.
