عظمت مردخای
1خشايارشا برای تمام مردم قلمرو پادشاهی خود كه وسعتش تا سواحل دور دست می‌رسيد، جزيه مقرر كرد. 2قدرت و عظمت كارهای خشايارشا و نيز شرح كامل به قدرت رسيدن مردخای و مقامی كه پادشاه به او بخشيد، در كتاب «تاريخ پادشاهان ماد و پارس» نوشته شده است. 3پس از خشايارشا، مردخای يهودی قدرتمندترين شخص مملكت بود. او برای تأمين رفاه و امنيت قوم خود هر چه از دستش برمی‌آمد، انجام می‌داد و يهوديان نيز او را دوست می‌داشتند و احترام زيادی برايش قايل بودند.
