1The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance. 2Therefore shall they have no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them.
3¶ And this shall be the priest’s due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep; and they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw. 4The firstfruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou give him. 5For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons for ever.
6¶ And if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD shall choose; 7Then he shall minister in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, which stand there before the LORD. 8They shall have like portions to eat, beside that which cometh of the sale of his patrimony.18.8 that…: Heb. his sale by the fathers
9¶ When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. 10There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, 11Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. 13Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.18.13 perfect: or, upright, or, sincere 14For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.18.14 possess: or, inherit
15¶ The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; 16According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. 17And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. 18I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. 19And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. 20But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. 21And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? 22When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
Der Herr versorgt die Priester und Leviten
1Die Priester und der ganze Stamm Levi sollen kein eigenes Gebiet bekommen wie die anderen Israeliten. Sie sollen sich von den Abgaben und Opfern ernähren, die dem Herrn dargebracht werden. 2Anstelle des Landes haben die Leviten einen besonderen Reichtum: Der Herr selbst ist ihr Anteil und Erbe! Er versorgt sie, wie er es ihnen versprochen hat.
3Die Priester haben Anspruch auf bestimmte Teile der Opfertiere. Wenn jemand aus eurem Volk ein Rind, ein Schaf oder eine Ziege als Schlachtopfer darbringt, dann soll der Priester davon die Schulter, die Kinnlade und den Magen bekommen. 4Ihr müsst den Priestern auch jedes Jahr den ersten Teil eurer Ernte geben, von eurem Getreide, Most und Öl. Auch die erste Schur eurer Schafe gehört ihnen. 5Denn der Herr, euer Gott, hat aus eurem Volk die Männer vom Stamm Levi erwählt, um in seinem Namen den Dienst im Heiligtum zu verrichten. Sie und ihre Nachkommen haben für immer diese Aufgabe.
6Viele Leviten werden jedoch nicht beim Heiligtum leben, sondern in verschiedenen Städten in ganz Israel. Wenn einer von ihnen gern an den Ort kommen möchte, den der Herr für sich auswählen wird, 7kann er dort Aufgaben im Heiligtum seines Gottes übernehmen, genau wie die anderen Leviten, die dort bereits dem Herrn dienen. 8Er soll die gleichen Anteile von den Opfern und Abgaben bekommen wie sie, unabhängig davon, wie viel er durch den Verkauf seines elterlichen Besitzes erworben hat.
Verbot von Magie und Wahrsagerei
9Wenn ihr jetzt in das Land kommt, das der Herr, euer Gott, euch gibt, dann übernehmt von den Völkern dort keinen ihrer abscheulichen Bräuche! 10Niemand von euch darf seinen Sohn oder seine Tochter als Opfer verbrennen, niemand soll wahrsagen, zaubern, Geister beschwören oder Magie treiben. 11Keiner darf mit Beschwörungen Unheil abwenden, Totengeister befragen, die Zukunft vorhersagen oder mit Verstorbenen Verbindung suchen. 12Wer so etwas tut, ist dem Herrn zuwider. Gerade wegen dieser abscheulichen Bräuche vertreibt er die anderen Völker und gibt euch ihr Land. 13Ihr aber gehört zum Herrn, eurem Gott. Darum haltet ihm allein die Treue!
Hört auf Gottes Propheten!
14Die Völker, die ihr vertreibt, hören auf Magier und Wahrsager. Doch euch hat der Herr, euer Gott, dies verboten. 15Er wird euch einen Propheten wie mich senden, einen Mann aus eurem Volk. Auf den sollt ihr hören!
16Ihr selbst habt euch dies am Berg Horeb vom Herrn gewünscht. Als ihr dort versammelt wart, habt ihr gesagt: »Wenn wir weiter die Stimme des Herrn, unseres Gottes, hören, gehen wir zugrunde. Wir können auch dieses gewaltige Feuer nicht länger ertragen, sonst sterben wir!« 17Der Herr antwortete mir damals: »Die Israeliten haben recht. 18Ich will ihnen auch in Zukunft einen Propheten senden wie dich, einen Mann aus ihrem Volk. Ihm werde ich meine Worte eingeben, und er wird sie den Israeliten mitteilen. 19Wer nicht auf das hört, was er in meinem Namen sagt, den werde ich dafür zur Rechenschaft ziehen. 20Wenn aber der Prophet überheblich wird und etwas in meinem Namen sagt, was ich ihm nicht befohlen habe, oder wenn er im Namen anderer Götter spricht, dann muss er sterben.«
21Ihr fragt euch vielleicht: Woher wissen wir, ob jemand im Auftrag des Herrn spricht oder nicht? 22Nun, wenn ein Prophet im Namen des Herrn etwas ankündigt und es trifft nicht ein, dann waren seine Worte nicht vom Herrn. Er hat eigenmächtig geredet, und ihr braucht ihn nicht ernst zu nehmen.
