7¶ Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand. 8And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more: 9And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
10¶ Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words. 11For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land. 12Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there: 13But prophesy not again any more at Beth-el: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court.7.13 chapel: or, sanctuary7.13 king’s court: Heb. house of the kingdom

16¶ Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac. 17Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.
Ang Panan-awon ni Amos bahin sa Dulon, Kalayo, ug Tunton
1May panan-awon nga gipakita ang Ginoong Dios kanako: Nakita ko nga nagtigom siya ug daghan kaayong mga dulon. Nahitabo kini human magalab ang mga kumpay nga alang sa mga kabayo sa hari, ug sa dihang nagsugod na ang ikaduhang ani. 2Unya gikaon sa mga dulon ang tanang mga tanom, ug wala gayoy nahibilin. Unya miingon ako, “Ginoong Dios, pasayloa intawon ang mga kaliwat ni Jacob. Unsaon nila pagkabuhi kon ipahamtang mo kana nga silot? Huyang sila ug walay ikasarang.” 3Busa nausab ang plano sa Ginoo ug miingon siya, “Ang imong nakita dili na mahitabo.”
4Unya gipakita sa Ginoong Dios kanako kini nga panan-awon: Nakita ko nga nangandam ang Ginoong Dios sa pagsilot sa iyang mga katawhan pinaagi sa kalayo. Gilamoy sa kalayo ang tubig sa mga tinubdan sa ilalom sa yuta ug ang kaumahan sa yuta sa Israel. 5Unya miingon ako, “Ginoong Dios, palihog, ayaw kana buhata. Unsaon pagkabuhi sa mga kaliwat ni Jacob kon buhaton mo kana? Huyang sila ug walay ikasarang.” 6Busa nausab ang plano sa Ginoo ug miingon siya, “Ang imong nakita dili na mahitabo.”
7May panan-awon na usab nga gipakita ang Ginoong Dios kanako: Nakita ko ang Ginoo nga nagtindog duol sa paril ug may gikuptan siyang tunton.7:7 tunton: higot nga may pabug-at sa tumoy nga ginagamit sa pagtan-aw kon tul-id ba ang gihimo. 8Nangutana ang Ginoo kanako, “Amos, unsa ang imong nakita?” Mitubag ako, “Tunton.” Unya miingon siya, “Sumala sa akong pagsukod, dili tul-id ang kinabuhi sa akong katawhan nga Israelinhon. Busa niining higayona dili ko na palabyon ang ilang mga sala. Silotan ko na sila. 9Gub-on ko ang mga halaran sa habog nga mga dapit nga ginasimbahan sa mga kaliwat ni Isaac, ug ipasulong ko sa mga kaaway ang mga kaliwat ni Haring Jeroboam.”
Si Amos ug si Amazia
10Unya, si Amaziah nga pari sa Betel nagpadala ug mensahe kang Jeroboam nga hari sa Israel. Miingon siya, “Nagplano si Amos ug daotan batok kanimo dinhi mismo sa Israel. Dili na maagwanta sa mga tawo ang iyang gipanulti. 11Kay mao kini ang iyang giingon, ‘Mamatay si Jeroboam sa gira, ug sigurado gayod nga bihagon ang mga Israelinhon ngadto sa ubang nasod.’ ”
12Unya miingon si Amazia kang Amos, “Ikaw nga propeta, pahawa dinhi ug balik sa Juda! Panginabuhi didto pinaagi sa imong pagkapropeta. 13Ayaw na pagsugilon sa mensahe sa Dios dinhi sa Betel, kay mao kini ang templo nga ginasimbahan sa hari ug ang templo sa iyang gingharian.” 14Mitubag si Amos kang Amazia, “Dili ako propeta ug wala ako mabansay ingon nga usa ka propeta. Usa ako ka magbalantay sa karnero ug tig-atiman sa mga kahoy nga sikomoro. 15Apan gikuha ako sa Ginoo gikan sa pagkamagbalantay sa karnero ug giingnan nga isugilon ang iyang mensahe kaninyo nga mga Israelinhon nga iyang katawhan. 16-17Karon, ikaw nga nagaingon nga dili ako magsugilon sa mensahe sa Dios sa mga Israelinhon nga kaliwat ni Isaac, pamatia kining giingon sa Ginoo batok kanimo, ‘Ang imong asawa magabaligya sa iyang dungog sa siyudad ug ang imong mga anak mamatay sa gira. Ang imong mga kayutaan bahin-bahinon sa mga kaaway, ug mamatay ka didto sa laing nasod. Ug sigurado gayod nga bihagon ang mga Israelinhon ngadto sa ubang nasod.’ ”
