1And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day. 2And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth. 3Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law? 4And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God’s high priest? 5Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people. 6But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question. 7And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided. 8For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both. 9And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees’ part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God. 10And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle. 11And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome. 12And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul. 13And they were more than forty which had made this conspiracy. 14And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul. 15Now therefore ye with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to morrow, as though ye would enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him. 16And when Paul’s sister’s son heard of their lying in wait, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul. 17Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain: for he hath a certain thing to tell him. 18So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and prayed me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say unto thee. 19Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went with him aside privately, and asked him, What is that thou hast to tell me? 20And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire thee that thou wouldest bring down Paul to morrow into the council, as though they would enquire somewhat of him more perfectly. 21But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee. 22So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and charged him, See thou tell no man that thou hast shewed these things to me. 23And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Cæsarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night; 24And provide them beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring him safe unto Felix the governor. 25And he wrote a letter after this manner: 26Claudius Lysias unto the most excellent governor Felix sendeth greeting. 27This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman. 28And when I would have known the cause wherefore they accused him, I brought him forth into their council: 29Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds. 30And when it was told me how that the Jews laid wait for the man, I sent straightway to thee, and gave commandment to his accusers also to say before thee what they had against him. Farewell. 31Then the soldiers, as it was commanded them, took Paul, and brought him by night to Antipatris. 32On the morrow they left the horsemen to go with him, and returned to the castle: 33Who, when they came to Cæsarea, and delivered the epistle to the governor, presented Paul also before him. 34And when the governor had read the letter, he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of Cilicia; 35I will hear thee, said he, when thine accusers are also come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod’s judgment hall.
1Gitutokan pag-ayo ni Pablo ang mga miyembro sa Korte ug miingon, “Mga kaigsoonan, kon mahitungod sa akong pagkinabuhi, limpyo ang akong konsensya atubangan sa Dios hangtod karon.” 2Pagkasulti niadto ni Pablo gisugo sa pangulong pari nga si Ananias ang mga nagatindog duol kang Pablo nga sagpaon nila ang baba ni Pablo. 3Ug miingon si Pablo kaniya, “Sagpaon ka usab sa Dios, ikaw nga tigpakaaron-ingnon! Nagalingkod ka diha aron hukman ako sumala sa Kasugoan, apan gilapas mo ang Kasugoan sa imong pagsugo nga sagpaon ako!” 4Miingon ang mga tawo nga nagtindog duol kang Pablo, “Giinsulto mo ang pangulong pari sa Dios!” 5Mitubag si Pablo, “Mga kaigsoonan, wala ako mahibalo nga siya diay ang pangulong pari, tungod kay nagaingon ang Kasulatan nga dili kita magsulti ug daotan batok sa nagadumala kanato.23:5 Tan-awa usab ang Exo. 22:28.”
6Sa dihang nakita ni Pablo nga may mga Saduseo ug mga Pariseo nga mitambong didto, misulti siya sa makusog ngadto sa mga miyembro sa Korte sa mga Judio, “Mga kaigsoonan, ako usa ka Pariseo, ug Pariseo usab ang akong amahan ug ang akong mga katigulangan. Gikiha ako dinhi karon tungod lang kay nagalaom ako nga may pagkabanhaw.”
7Sa pagsulti niya niini, nasamok ang mga Pariseo ug ang mga Saduseo ug nabahin ang mga mitambong sa tigom. 8Nahitabo kadto tungod kay sumala sa mga Saduseo walay pagkabanhaw. Wala usab sila motuo nga may mga anghel o mga espiritu. Apan kining tanan gituohan sa mga Pariseo. 9Busa nagsugod sila pagsininggitay didto. May mga magtutudlo sa Kasugoan nga mga Pariseo nga mitindog ug misupak nga nagaingon, “Wala kamiy nakitang daotan nga gihimo niining tawhana. Tingalig may espiritu o anghel nga nakigsulti kaniya!”
10Misamot ang ilang panaglalis hangtod nga nahadlok ang komander nga kunis-kunison si Pablo. Busa gimandoan niya ang mga sundalo nga manaog ug kuhaon si Pablo gikan sa mga tawo ug dad-on sa kampo.
11Nianang pagkagabii nagpakita ang Ginoo kang Pablo ug miingon, “Ayaw kahadlok! Ingon nga nagpamatuod ka mahitungod kanako dinhi sa Jerusalem, kinahanglan nga mao usab kana ang imong buhaton didto sa Roma.”
Ang Plano sa Pagpatay kang Pablo
12-13Sa pagkabuntag niana nagtigom ang kapin sa 40 ka mga Judio ug nagplano sila sa ilang buhaton. Nanumpa sila nga dili gayod sila mokaon ug moinom hangtod dili nila mapatay si Pablo. 14Unya nangadto sila sa kadagkoan sa mga pari ug sa mga pangulo sa mga Judio ug miingon, “Nanumpa kami nga dili mokaon ug bisan unsa hangtod dili namo mapatay si Pablo. 15Busa kamo ug ang Korte magpahibalo na sa komander sa mga sundalong Romanhon nga gusto ninyo nga ipadala niya pag-usab si Pablo dinhi kaninyo. Magpakaaron-ingnon kamo nga gusto ninyo siyang imbistigahon pag-ayo. Apan sa dili pa siya makaabot dinhi patyon namo siya.”
16Apan kini nga plano nadungog sa pag-umangkon nga lalaki ni Pablo, ang anak sa iyang igsoong babaye. Busa miadto siya sa kampo ug gisultihan niya si Pablo. 17Unya gitawag ni Pablo ang usa sa mga opisyal didto ug giingnan, “Dad-a ninyo kining batan-on ngadto sa komander, kay may isulti siya kaniya.” 18Busa gidala sa kapitan ang batan-on ngadto sa komander. Sa pag-abot nila didto miingon ang kapitan, “Gitawag ako sa priso nga si Pablo, ug mihangyo siya nga dad-on ko dinhi kanimo kining batan-on, kay may isulti kuno siya kanimo.” 19Gikuptan sa komander ang kamot sa batan-on ug gidala niya sa lugar nga dili sila madunggan sa uban. Dayon gipangutana niya kini, “Unsa bay imong isulti kanako.” 20Miingon ang batan-on, “Nagkasabot ang mga Judio nga hangyoon ka nila nga dad-on sa korte si Pablo ugma, kay imbistigahon kuno nila pag-ayo. 21Apan ayawg tuo kanila, kay kapin sa 40 ka mga tawo ang magpaabot ug mag-atang kaniya sa dalan. Nanumpa sila nga dili mokaon ug moinom hangtod nga dili nila mapatay si Pablo. Andam na sila ug nagahulat na lang sa imong pagtugot.” 22Miingon ang komander kaniya, “Ayaw gayod pagpanugilon kang bisan kinsa nga gisultihan mo ako niini.” Ug gipapauli dayon niya ang batan-on.
Gihatod si Pablo kang Gobernador Felix
23Gipatawag dayon sa komander ang duha sa iyang mga kapitan ug gisultihan sila, “Pag-andam kamo ug 200 ka mga sundalo kay ipadala ko kamo sa lungsod sa Cesarea. Pagdala usab kamo ug 70 ka mga tigkabayo ug laing 200 ka mga sundalo nga tigbangkaw. Ug lakaw kamo karong mga alas nuwebe sa gabii. 24Pag-andam usab ug mga kabayo nga kasakyan ni Pablo. Bantayi ninyo siya pag-ayo aron walay mahitabo kaniya hangtod nga makaabot siya kang Gobernador Felix.” 25Ug nagsulat usab ang komander ngadto sa Gobernador nga nagaingon:
26“Talahuron nga Gobernador Felix, ako si Claudio Lisias nga nangumusta kanimo. 27Kining tawhana nga akong gipadala kanimo gidakop sa mga Judio ug patyon na unta nila. Apan sa pagkahibalo ko nga siya Romanhon, nagdala ako ug mga sundalo aron luwason siya. 28Gusto ko untang mahibaloan kon unsa ang ilang sumbong batok niining tawhana, busa gidala ko siya sa ilang Korte. 29Sumala sa akong mga pakisusi, wala gayod siyay nahimo nga daotan aron patyon o prisohon. Ang sumbong batok kaniya mahitungod lamang gayod sa ilang kaugalingon nga kasugoan. 30Busa sa pagkahibalo ko nga kini siya giplanohan na sa mga Judio nga patyon, nakahunahuna ako nga mas maayo pa nga ipadala ko siya diha kanimo. Ug gisultihan ko na ang mga nagreklamo batok kaniya nga ipadangat nila kanimo ang ilang mga sumbong.”
31Gituman sa mga sundalo ang gimando kanila. Ug niadtong gabhiona gikuha nila si Pablo ug gidala sa Antipatris. 32Nianang pagkabuntag, ang mga sundalo nga naglakaw mao lamang ang mibalik sa kampo, ug ang mga nagsakay sa kabayo mao ray miuban kang Pablo. 33Sa pag-abot nila didto sa Cesarea, gihatag nila ang sulat ngadto sa Gobernador ug ilang gitugyan si Pablo kaniya. 34Pagkabasa niya sa sulat, gipangutana niya si Pablo kon taga-asa siya nga probinsya. Sa pagkahibalo niya nga taga-Cilicia si Pablo, 35miingon siya, “Husayon ko ang imong kaso kon moabot na ang mga nagsumbong batok kanimo.” Ug gipabantayan niya si Pablo didto sa palasyong gipahimo kaniadto ni Herodes.
