1Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh. 2Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel. 3So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.
4¶ David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. 5In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.
6¶ And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.5.6 thinking…: or, saying David shall not, etc 7Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David. 8And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David’s soul, he shall be chief and captain. 11¶ And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house.5.11 masons: Heb. hewers of the stone of the wall 12And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.
13¶ And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David. 14And these be the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon, 15Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia, 16And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.
17¶ But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold. 18The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. 19And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand. 20And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim.5.20 Baal-perazim: that is, the plain of breaches 21And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.5.21 burned…: or, took them away
22¶ And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. 23And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees. 24And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines. 25And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.5.25 Geba: also called, Gibeon
داوود، پادشاه تمام اسرائيل می‌شود
(اول تواريخ 11:1-9)
1نمايندگان تمام قبايل اسرائيل به حبرون نزد داوود آمدند و به او گفتند: «ما از گوشت و استخوان تو هستيم. 2حتی زمانی كه شائول بر ما حكومت می‌كرد، سپاهيان ما را تو به جنگ می‌بردی و به سلامت بازمی‌گرداندی. و خداوند به تو گفت كه تو بايد شبان و رهبر قوم او باشی.»
3پس در حبرون، داوود در حضور خداوند با بزرگان اسرائيل عهد بست و آنها او را به عنوان پادشاه اسرائيل انتخاب كردند. 4-5(او پيش از آن، در سن سی سالگی به پادشاهی يهودا برگزيده شده بود و مدت هفت سال و شش ماه بود كه در حبرون بر سرزمين يهودا سلطنت می‌كرد. علاوه بر اين، مدت سی و سه سال نيز در اورشليم بر اسرائيل و يهودا حكمرانی كرد. پس داوود روی‌هم‌رفته حدود چهل سال سلطنت كرد.)
داوود اورشليم را فتح می‌كند
6داوود پادشاه و سربازانش به اورشليم حمله كردند تا با يبوسيان كه در آنجا ساكن بودند بجنگند. يبوسيان به داوود گفتند: «هرگز به داخل شهر راه نخواهی يافت. حتی كوران و شلان، می‌توانند تو را از اينجا بيرون كنند.» آنها خيال می‌كردند در قلعهٔ خود در امان هستند. 7(اما داوود و سربازانش آنها را شكست داده، قلعهٔ صهيون را گرفتند. اين قلعه امروز به «شهر داوود» معروف است.)
8وقتی پيغام توهين‌آميز مدافعان شهر اورشليم به داوود رسيد، او به نيروهای خود اين دستور را داد: «از مجرای قنات وارد شهر شويد و اين يبوسيان شل و كور را كه دشمن من هستند، نابود كنيد.» (به اين دليل است كه می‌گويند: «كور و شل وارد كاخ نخواهند شد.»)
9پس داوود در قلعهٔ صهيون ساكن شده، آن را «شهر داوود» ناميد. سپس از مِلو واقع در بخش قديمی شهر، شروع كرده، به طرف مركز شهر جديد در شمال، ساختمانهايی ساخت. 10به اين ترتيب، روز‌به‌روز بر عظمت و قدرت داوود افزوده می‌شد زيرا خداوند، خدای قادر متعال با او بود.
11حيرام، پادشاه صور، قاصدانی نزد داوود فرستاد. همراه اين قاصدان، نجاران و بناهايی با چوب درختان سرو نيز فرستاده شدند تا برای داوود كاخی بسازند. 12بنابراين، داوود فهميد كه خداوند به خاطر قوم خود اسرائيل، او را پادشاه ساخته و سلطنتش را اينچنين بركت داده است.
13داوود پس از آنكه از حبرون به اورشليم رفت، بار ديگر زنان و كنيزان برای خود گرفت و صاحب دختران و پسران ديگری شد. 14فرزندانی كه برای او در شهر اورشليم متولد شدند، عبارت بودند از: شموع، شوباب، ناتان، سليمان، 15يبحار، اليشوع، نافج، يافيع، 16اليشمع، الياداع و اليفلط.
داوود فلسطینی‌ها را شكست می‌دهد
(اول تواريخ 14:8-17)
17وقتی فلسطينی‌ها شنيدند داوود پادشاه اسرائيل شده است، تمام نيروهای خود را برای جنگ با او بسيج كردند. اما داوود چون اين را شنيد به داخل قلعه رفت. 18فلسطينی‌ها آمده، در درهٔ رفائيم اردو زدند. 19داوود از خداوند سؤال كرد: «اگر به جنگ فلسطينی‌ها بروم، آيا مرا پيروز می‌گردانی؟»
خداوند فرمود: «بلی، تو را بر دشمن پيروز می‌گردانم.»
20پس داوود در بعل فراصيم به فلسطينی‌ها حمله كرد و آنها را شكست داد. داوود گفت: «خداوند بود كه دشمنان ما را شكست داد! او چون سيلاب بر آنها رخنه كرد.» به اين دليل است كه آن محل را بعل فراصيم (يعنی «خدای رخنه‌كننده») ناميده‌اند. 21داوود و سربازان او تعداد زيادی بت كه فلسطينی‌ها برجای گذاشته بودند، برداشته، با خود بردند.
22اما فلسطينی‌ها بار ديگر بازگشتند و در درهٔ رفائيم اردو زدند. 23وقتی داوود از خداوند كسب تكليف كرد، خداوند به او گفت: «از روبرو به آنها حمله نكن، بلكه دور بزن و از ميان درختان توت، از پشت سر حمله كن. 24وقتی صدای پايی بر سر درختان توت شنيدی، آنگاه حمله را شروع كن. چون اين علامت آن است كه من پيشاپيش شما حركت می‌كنم و لشكر فلسطينی‌ها را شكست می‌دهم.»
25پس داوود، چنانكه خداوند به او فرموده بود، عمل كرد و فلسطینی‌ها را از جبعه تا جازر سركوب نمود.
