1Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.21.1 enquired…: Heb. sought the face, etc 2And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.) 3Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD? 4And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.21.4 We will…: or, It is not silver nor gold that we have to do with Saul or his house, neither pertains it to us to kill, etc 5And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,21.5 devised…: or, cut us off 6Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give them.21.6 whom…: or, chosen of the LORD 7But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD’s oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul. 8But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:21.8 Michal: or, Michal’s sister21.8 brought…: Heb. bear to Adriel 9And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.
10¶ And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night. 11And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.
12¶ And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh-gilead, which had stolen them from the street of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa: 13And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged. 14And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.
15¶ Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint. 16And Ishbi-benob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.21.16 the giant: or, Rapha21.16 spear: Heb. the staff, or, the head 17But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Gipatay sa mga Gibeohanon ang mga Kaliwat ni Saul

Midangop si David sa Ginoo, ug miingon ang Ginoo, “Miabot ang gutom tungod kay gipapatay ni Saul ug sa iyang pamilya ang mga Gibeohanon.” 2Kining mga Gibeohanon dili mga Israelinhon; sila ang nahibiling mga kaliwat sa mga Amorihanon. Nanumpa ang mga Israelinhon nga dili nila sila pamatyon, apan nagtinguha si Saul sa paglaglag kanila tungod sa iyang dakong kabalaka alang sa Israel ug Juda.
Gipatawag ni David ang mga Gibeohanon 3ug gipangutana, “Unsay akong buhaton alang kaninyo aron mabayran ang sala nga nahimo ni Saul diha kaninyo, ug aron panalanginan ang katawhan sa Ginoo?” 4Mitubag ang mga Gibeohanon, “Dili mabayran ug pilak o bulawan ang among kasuko kang Saul ug sa iyang pamilya, ug wala usab kami katungod sa pagpatay ni bisan kinsa sa Israel.” Nangutana si David, “Unsa may inyong gusto nga akong buhaton alang kaninyo?” 5Mitubag sila, “Nagtinguha si Saul sa pagpatay kanamo aron walay mahibilin kanamo sa Israel. 6Busa itugyan ninyo kanamo ang pito sa iyang mga kaliwat nga lalaki, kay pamatyon namo sila ug pasagdan ang ilang mga patayng lawas didto sa dapit nga duol sa ginasimbahan sa Ginoo didto sa Gibea, sa lungsod ni Saul, ang hari nga pinili sa Ginoo.” Miingon ang hari, “Sige, ihatag ko sila kaninyo.”
7Wala itugyan ni David kanila si Mefiboshet nga anak ni Jonatan ug apo ni Saul, tungod sa ilang gipanumpaan ni Jonatan atubangan sa Ginoo. 8Ang gitugyan ni David mao ang duha ka anak ni Saul nga si Armoni ug si Mefiboshet21:8 Mefiboshet: Uyoan siya ni Mefiboshet sa bersikulo 7., nga ang ilang inahan mao si Rizpa nga anak ni Aya. Gitugyan usab ni David ang lima ka anak nga lalaki ni Merab. Si Merab anak ni Saul ug asawa ni Adriel nga anak ni Barzilai nga taga-Mehola. 9Gitugyan sila ni David ngadto sa mga Gibeohanon, ug gipamatay silang pito didto sa bungtod duol sa dapit nga ginasimbahan sa Ginoo. Ug gipasagdan lang ang ilang mga patayng lawas didto. Nahitabo kini sa pagsugod sa panahon sa ting-ani sa barley.
10Ang anak ni Aya nga si Rizpa mikuha ug sako ug gibukhad kini sa may bato aron iyang higdaan. Gibantayan niya ang mga patayng lawas aron dili kini hilabtan sa mga langgam kon adlaw ug sa ihalas nga mga mananap kon gabii. Didto siya nagpabilin sa pagsugod sa ting-ani hangtod nga miulan.
11Sa dihang gisultihan si David sa gihimo ni Rizpa nga asawa ni Saul, 12miadto siya sa mga lumulupyo sa Jabes Gilead ug gikuha ang mga bukog ni Saul ug sa iyang anak nga si Jonatan. (Sa dihang namatay si Saul ug si Jonatan sa ilang pagpakiggira sa mga Filistihanon sa Gilboa, gipabitay sa mga Filistihanon ang ilang mga patayng lawas didto sa plasa sa Bet Shan, ug sekreto kini nga gikuha sa mga taga-Jabes Gilead.) 13Gidala ni David ang mga bukog ni Saul ug ni Jonatan, apil usab ang mga bukog sa pito nga gipamatay sa mga Gibeohanon. 14Ug gipalubong niya kini sa iyang mga tawo didto sa lubnganan sa amahan ni Saul nga si Kish, sa lungsod sa Zela sa Benjamin. Ug natuman tanan ang gimando ni David. Human niadto, gitubag sa Dios ang ilang pag-ampo alang sa ilang nasod.
Ang Gira Batok sa mga Filistihanon
(1 Cro. 20:4-8)
15Wala madugay, naggira na usab ang mga Filistihanon ug mga Israelinhon. Ug samtang nakiggira si David ug ang iyang mga tawo, gibati siyag kakapoy. 16Si Ishbi Benob nga Filistihanon, nga usa sa mga kaliwat sa mga Rafa,21:16 mga Rafa: o, mga Refaimnon. Tingali mga taas nga mga tawo nga nagapuyo sa Canaan sa wala pa mag-abot ang mga Israelinhon. Tan-awa sa Deu. 2:10-11. nagtinguha sa pagpatay kang David. Ang tumoy sa iyang bangkaw bronsi nga may gibug-aton nga mga upat ka kilo, ug nagtakin siya ug bag-ong espada. 17Apan miabot si Abishai nga anak ni Zeruya sa pagluwas kang David, ug gipatay niya kini nga Filistihanon. Human niadto miingon ang mga tawo ni David kaniya, “Dili na kami mosugot nga mouban ka pag-usab kanamo sa pagpakiggira. Sama ka sa suga sa Israel, ug dili kami gusto nga mawala ka.”
18Paglabay sa panahon, naggira na usab ang mga Filistihanon ug mga Israelinhon, ug didto kini nahitabo sa Gob. Niadto nga gira gipatay ni Sibecai nga taga-Husha si Sap, nga usa usab sa mga kaliwat sa mga Rafa. 19Ug sa usa pa nila ka gira didto sa Gob, gipatay ni Elhanan nga anak ni Jaare Oregim, nga taga-Betlehem, si Goliat nga taga-Gat. Ang bangkaw ni Goliat bug-at ug baga.21:19 bug-at ug baga: sa literal, sama sa sablayan sa hablanan sa maghahabol.
20Naggira pag-usab ang mga Filistihanon ug mga Israelinhon, ug didto kini nahitabo sa Gat. Niini nga gira, may tawo nga labihan kaayo kadako. May unom siya ka tudlo sa matag kamot ug tiil. Usa usab siya sa mga kaliwat sa mga Rafa. 21Sa dihang gibugalbugalan niya ang mga Israelinhon, gipatay siya ni Jonatan nga anak sa igsoon ni David nga si Shimea.
22Kadtong upat ka Filistihanon mga kaliwat sa mga Rafa nga taga-Gat. Gihurot silag patay ni David ug sa mga tawo niini.
