1Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath. 2And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.
3¶ And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the LORD, saying, 4Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people:22.4 door: Heb. threshold 5And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house, 6Unto carpenters, and builders, and masons, and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house. 7Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand, because they dealt faithfully.
8¶ And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it. 9And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD.22.9 gathered: Heb. melted 10And Shaphan the scribe shewed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
11And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes. 12And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king’s, saying,22.12 Achbor: or, Abdon22.12 Michaiah: or, Micah 13Go ye, enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us. 14So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed with her.22.14 wardrobe: Heb. garments22.14 in the…: or, in the second part
15¶ And she said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me, 16Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read: 17Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched. 18But to the king of Judah which sent you to enquire of the LORD, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard; 19Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD. 20Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.
Ang Paghari ni Josia sa Juda

1Nagaedad si Josia ug walo ka tuig sa dihang nahimo siyang hari. Sa Jerusalem siya nagpuyo, ug naghari siya sulod sa 31 ka tuig. Ang iyang inahan mao si Jedida nga anak ni Adaya nga taga-Bozkat. 2Gihimo niya ang maayo atubangan sa Ginoo ug misunod sa gibuhat sa iyang katigulangan nga si David. Gibuhat gayod niya ang husto.
Nakita ang Libro sa Kasugoan sa Templo
(2 Cro. 34:8-28)
3Sa ika-18 nga tuig sa iyang paghari, gipaadto niya sa templo sa Ginoo ang iyang sekretaryo nga si Shafan, nga anak ni Azalia ug apo ni Meshulam. Miingon siya kang Shafan, 4“Adto kang Hilkia nga pangulong pari, ug ipaihap kaniya ang kuwarta nga nakolekta sa mga pari nga nagabantay sa pultahan sa templo gikan sa mga tawo. 5Sultihi siya nga ihatag kini sa mga tawo nga gitugyanan sa pagdumala sa pag-ayo sa templo, aron ilang isuhol sa mga nagaayo sa templo sa Ginoo— 6sa mga karpentero ug sa mga mason nga nagaayo sa templo ug sa mga paril niini. Ang ubang kuwarta ipapalit ug mga kahoy ug mga bato nga tiniltilan nga kinahanglan sa pagpaayo sa templo. 7Ayaw na sila pangitai ug lista sa mga gasto kay kasaligan sila.”
8Miingon si Hilkia nga pangulong pari kang Shafan nga sekretaryo, “Nakita ko ang Libro sa Kasugoan didto sa templo sa Ginoo.” Gihatag ni Hilkia ang libro kang Shafan ug gibasa niya kini. 9Miadto si Shafan sa hari ug miingon, “Gikuha na sa imong mga opisyal ang kuwarta sa templo ug gihatag ngadto sa mga tawo nga gitugyanan sa pagpaayo sa templo.” 10Unya midugang sila sa pag-ingon, “May gihatag kanako nga libro si Hilkia nga pari.” Ug gibasa niya kini atubangan sa hari.
11Pagkadungog sa hari sa nahisulat sa Libro sa Kasugoan, gigisi niya ang iyang bisti sa kasubo. 12Unya nagmando siya kang Hilkia nga pari, kang Ahikam nga anak ni Shafan, kang Acbor nga anak ni Micaya, kang Shafan nga sekretaryo, ug kang Asaya nga iyang personal nga alagad. Miingon siya, 13“Pangutana kamo sa Ginoo alang kanako ug alang sa katawhan sa Juda mahitungod niining nahisulat sa libro nga nakit-an. Labihan gayod ang kasuko sa Ginoo kanato tungod kay wala tumana sa atong mga katigulangan ang nahisulat niini nga libro nga gipatuman usab kanato.”
14Busa nangadto sila si Hilkia nga pari, Ahikam, Acbor, Shafan, ug Asaya aron sa pagpakigsulti sa usa ka babayeng propeta nga si Hulda. Kini si Hulda asawa ni Shalum nga anak ni Tikva ug apo ni Harhas. Si Shalum mao ang nagaatiman sa mga bisti sa templo. Si Hulda didto magpuyo sa ikaduhang distrito sa Jerusalem.
15-16Miingon si Hulda kanila, “Ingna ninyo ang tawo nga nagpadala kaninyo dinhi kanako nga mao kini ang giingon sa Ginoo, ang Dios sa Israel: ‘Laglagon ko kining lugara ug ang mga lumulupyo niini, sumala sa nahisulat sa libro nga imong gibasa. 17Ipakita ko gayod ang akong kasuko niining lugara, ug dili kini mahupay kay gisalikway ako sa akong katawhan ug nagsimba sila22:17 nagsimba sila: sa Hebreo, nagsunog sila ug insenso, nga usa ka paagi sa pagsimba. sa ubang mga dios. Gipalagot gayod nila ako sa ilang gipanghimo.22:17 sa ilang gipanghimo: o, sa mga dios-dios nga ilang gipanghimo.’
18“Apan ingna ninyo ang hari sa Juda nga nagpadala kaninyo sa pagpangutana sa Ginoo, nga mao kini ang giingon sa Ginoo, ang Dios sa Israel: 19Gidungog ko ang imong pag-ampo, kay naghinulsol ka ug nagpaubos sa imong kaugalingon sa akong atubangan sa dihang nadungog mo ang akong gisulti nga tunglohon ug laglagon ko kini nga lugar ug ang mga lumulupyo niini. Gigisi mo pa ang imong bisti ug mihilak sa akong atubangan sa pagpakita sa imong paghinulsol. Busa ako, ang Ginoo, nagaingon nga 20samtang buhi ka pa dili ko ipahamtang ang kalaglagan nga gisaad ko nga modangat niining lugara. Mamatay ka nga malinawon.”
Ug gisultihan nila ang hari sa tubag ni Hulda.
