1Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Hephzi-bah. 2And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, after the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel. 3For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal, and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them. 4And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, In Jerusalem will I put my name. 5And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. 6And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. 7And he set a graven image of the grove that he had made in the house, of which the LORD said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever: 8Neither will I make the feet of Israel move any more out of the land which I gave their fathers; only if they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them. 9But they hearkened not: and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than did the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel.
10¶ And the LORD spake by his servants the prophets, saying, 11Because Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations, and hath done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, which were before him, and hath made Judah also to sin with his idols: 12Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle. 13And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab: and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish, wiping it, and turning it upside down.21.13 wiping…: Heb. he wipeth and turneth it upon the face thereof 14And I will forsake the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies; 15Because they have done that which was evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even unto this day. 16Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin wherewith he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.21.16 from…: Heb. from mouth to mouth
17¶ Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he sinned, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 18And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.
19¶ Amon was twenty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Meshullemeth, the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah. 20And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father Manasseh did. 21And he walked in all the way that his father walked in, and served the idols that his father served, and worshipped them: 22And he forsook the LORD God of his fathers, and walked not in the way of the LORD.
23¶ And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and slew the king in his own house. 24And the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead. 25Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 26And he was buried in his sepulchre in the garden of Uzza: and Josiah his son reigned in his stead.21.26 Josiah: Gr. O Reinado de Manassés, Rei de Judá
1Manassés tinha doze anos de idade quando começou a reinar e reinou cinquenta e cinco anos em Jerusalém. O nome de sua mãe era Hefzibá. 2Ele fez o que o Senhor reprova, imitando as práticas detestáveis das nações que o Senhor havia expulsado de diante dos israelitas. 3Reconstruiu os altares idólatras que seu pai, Ezequias, havia demolido e também ergueu altares para Baal e fez um poste sagrado para Aserá, como fizera Acabe, rei de Israel. Inclinou-se diante de todos os exércitos celestes e lhes prestou culto. 4Construiu altares no templo do Senhor, do qual este havia dito: “Em Jerusalém porei o meu nome”. 5Nos dois pátios do templo do Senhor ele construiu altares para todos os exércitos celestes. 6Chegou a queimar o próprio filho em sacrifício, praticou feitiçaria e adivinhação e recorreu a médiuns e a quem consultava os espíritos. Fez o que o Senhor reprova, provocando-o à ira.
7Ele tomou o poste sagrado que havia feito e o pôs no templo, do qual o Senhor tinha dito a Davi e a seu filho Salomão: “Neste templo e em Jerusalém, que escolhi dentre todas as tribos de Israel, porei o meu nome para sempre. 8Não farei os pés dos israelitas andarem errantes novamente, longe da terra que dei aos seus antepassados, se tão somente tiverem o cuidado de fazer tudo o que lhes ordenei e de obedecer a toda a Lei que meu servo Moisés lhes deu”. 9Mas o povo não quis ouvir. Manassés os desviou, a ponto de fazerem pior do que as nações que o Senhor havia destruído diante dos israelitas.
10E o Senhor disse por meio dos seus servos, os profetas: 11“Manassés, rei de Judá, cometeu esses atos repugnantes. Agiu pior do que os amorreus que o antecederam e também levou Judá a pecar com os ídolos que fizera. 12Portanto, assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de Israel: Causarei uma tal desgraça em Jerusalém e em Judá que os ouvidos de quem ouvir a respeito ficarão zumbindo. 13Estenderei sobre Jerusalém o fio de medir utilizado contra Samaria e o fio de prumo usado contra a família de Acabe. Limparei Jerusalém como se limpa um prato, lavando-o e virando-o de cabeça para baixo. 14Abandonarei o remanescente da minha herança e o entregarei nas mãos de seus inimigos. Serão despojados e saqueados por todos os seus adversários, 15pois fizeram o que eu reprovo e me provocaram à ira, desde o dia em que os seus antepassados saíram do Egito até hoje”.
16Manassés também derramou tanto sangue inocente que encheu Jerusalém de um extremo a outro; além disso levou Judá a cometer pecado e fazer o que o Senhor reprova.
17Os demais acontecimentos do reinado de Manassés e todas as suas realizações, inclusive o pecado que cometeu, estão escritos no livro dos registros históricos dos reis de Judá. 18Manassés descansou com os seus antepassados e foi sepultado no jardim do seu palácio, o jardim de Uzá. E seu filho Amom foi o seu sucessor.
O Reinado de Amom, Rei de Judá
19Amom tinha vinte e dois anos de idade quando começou a reinar e reinou dois anos em Jerusalém. O nome de sua mãe era Mesulemete, filha de Haruz; ela era de Jotbá. 20Ele fez o que o Senhor reprova, como fizera Manassés, seu pai. 21Imitou o seu pai em tudo; prestou culto aos ídolos aos quais seu pai havia cultuado e inclinou-se diante deles. 22Abandonou o Senhor, o Deus dos seus antepassados, e não andou no caminho do Senhor.
23Os oficiais de Amom conspiraram contra ele e o assassinaram em seu palácio. 24Mas o povo matou todos os que haviam conspirado contra o rei Amom, e a seu filho Josias proclamou rei em seu lugar.
25Os demais acontecimentos do reinado de Amom e as suas realizações estão escritos no livro dos registros históricos dos reis de Judá. 26Ele foi sepultado em seu túmulo no jardim de Uzá. Seu filho Josias foi o seu sucessor.
