9¶ After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his servants to Jerusalem, (but he himself laid siege against Lachish, and all his power with him,) unto Hezekiah king of Judah, and unto all Judah that were at Jerusalem, saying,32.9 power: Heb. dominion 10Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege in Jerusalem?32.10 siege: or, strong hold 11Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying, The LORD our God shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria? 12Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it? 13Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of other lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand? 14Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand? 15Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand? 16And his servants spake yet more against the LORD God, and against his servant Hezekiah. 17He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand. 18Then they cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ speech unto the people of Jerusalem that were on the wall, to affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city. 19And they spake against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, which were the work of the hands of man. 20And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.
21¶ And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.32.21 slew…: Heb. made him fall 22Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side. 23And many brought gifts unto the LORD to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thenceforth.32.23 presents: Heb. precious things
24¶ In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed unto the LORD: and he spake unto him, and he gave him a sign.32.24 gave…: or, wrought a miracle for him 25But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem. 26Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.32.26 pride: Heb. lifting up
27¶ And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels;32.27 pleasant…: Heb. instruments of desire 28Storehouses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and cotes for flocks. 29Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him substance very much. 30This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.
31¶ Howbeit in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.32.31 ambassadors: Heb. interpreters

Gisulong sa Asiria ang Juda
(2 Hari 18:13-37; Isa. 36:1-22)
1Human mahimo ni Hezekia sa tumang kakugi ang iyang mga buluhaton, gisulong ni Senakerib nga hari sa Asiria ang Juda. Gilibotan niya ug sa iyang mga sundalo ang pinarilan nga mga lungsod sa tinguha nga mailog niya kini alang sa iyang kaugalingon. 2Sa dihang nakita ni Hezekia nga apil ang Jerusalem sulongon ni Senakerib, 3nakigsulti siya sa iyang mga opisyal ug sa mga pangulo sa iyang mga sundalo. Nakadesisyon sila nga paundangon ang pagtubod sa tubig sa mga tuboran paingon sa gawas sa siyudad. 4Busa nagtigom silag daghan kaayong mga tawo ug gisampongan nila ang mga tuboran ug sapa-sapa nga nagadagayday sa kayutaan sa maong dapit. Kay matod nila, “Nganong tugotan ta man nga makakaplag ug daghang tubig ang mga taga-Asiria inig-abot nila dinhi?”
5Unya gipalig-on pa pag-ayo ni Hezekia ang iyang mga depensa pinaagi sa pagpaayo sa mga paril ug sa pagpatukod ug mga tore. Gipadoblehan pa gayod niya ug paril ang siyudad, ug gilig-on ang mubong bahin32:5 mubong bahin: sa Hebreo, Millo. Dili klaro ang buot ipasabot niini sa Hebreo nga teksto. sa Lungsod ni David. Nagpahimo usab siyag daghang mga hinagiban ug mga taming.
6Nagbutang siyag mga komander nga modumala sa mga tawo, ug gipatigom niya sila sa plasa, sa may pultahan sa siyudad. Unya gidasig niya ang katawhan pinaagi niini nga mga pulong, 7“Pagmalig-on kamo ug pagmaisogon. Ayaw kamo kahadlok ni kaluya tungod sa hari sa Asiria o sa iyang daghang mga sundalo. Kay may mas gamhanan pa kay kaniya nga nagauban kanato. 8Mga tawo lang ang iyang kauban. Apan ang Ginoo nga atong Dios mao ang atong kauban. Siya ang motabang kanato ug makig-away alang kanato.” Nadasig ang mga tawo sa gisulti ni Hezekia nga hari sa Juda.
9Samtang gilibotan ni Haring Senakerib ug sa iyang mga sundalo ang lungsod sa Lakish, gipadala niya ang iyang mga opisyal ngadto sa Jerusalem sa pagsulti kang Haring Hezekia ug sa mga katawhan niini nga mensahe:
10“Mao kini ang giingon ni Senakerib nga hari sa Asiria: Unsa may inyong gisaligan nga nagapabilin pa man gihapon kamo sa Jerusalem bisag gilibotan na kamo? 11Miingon si Hezekia kaninyo nga luwason kamo sa Ginoo nga inyong Dios gikan sa kamot sa hari sa Asiria. Apan gilingla lang niya kamo, kay kon magpabilin kamo sa Jerusalem, mangamatay kamo sa kagutom ug sa kauhaw. 12Dili ba nga si Hezekia man mismo ang nagpaguba sa mga simbahanan sa Ginoo sa habog nga mga dapit ug mga halaran? Dili ba nga miingon siya kaninyong mga lumulupyo sa Jerusalem ug sa ubang bahin sa Juda nga, ‘Sa usa lang kamo ka halaran magsimba ug magsunog ug mga halad?’
13“Nahibalo kamo kon unsay gihimo ko ug sa akong mga katigulangan ngadto sa mga katawhan sa ubang mga nasod. Naluwas ba sila sa ilang mga dios gikan sa akong mga kamot? 14Kinsa sa mga dios niining mga nasod nga gipanglaglag sa hingpit sa akong mga katigulangan ang nakaluwas sa iyang katawhan gikan sa akong mga kamot? Makaluwas ba ang inyong dios kaninyo gikan kanako? 15Ayaw kamo pagpalingla o pagpatunto kang Hezekia. Ayaw kamo pagtuo kaniya. Wala gayoy dios sa bisan unsa nga nasod o gingharian nga nakaluwas sa iyang katawhan gikan sa akong mga kamot o sa kamot sa akong mga katigulangan. Ang inyong Dios pa kaha?”
16Daghan pa gayong gidugang nga daotang mga pulong ang mga opisyal ni Senakerib batok sa Ginoong Dios ug sa iyang alagad nga si Haring Hezekia. 17Nagpadala usab si Haring Senakerib ug mga sulat sa pagbiaybiay sa Ginoo, ang Dios sa Israel. Mao kini ang iyang sulat: “Sama nga ang mga dios sa uban nga mga nasod wala makaluwas sa ilang katawhan gikan sa akong mga kamot, ang dios ni Hezekia dili usab makaluwas sa iyang katawhan gikan sa akong mga kamot.” 18Gikusog kini pagsulti sa mga opisyal ni Senakerib sa pinulongang Hebreo aron hadlokon ug lisangon ang mga lumulupyo sa Jerusalem nga didto sa paril, ug aron dali nilang mailog ang siyudad. 19Sa ilang paghisgot bahin sa Dios sa Jerusalem, daw gipakasama lang nila siya sa mga dios sa ubang nasod nga hinimo lang sa tawo.
20Busa tungod niini, nagaampo si Haring Hezekia ug si Propeta Isaias nga anak ni Amos ngadto sa Dios sa langit. 21Unya nagpadala ang Ginoo ug anghel nga milaglag sa maisog nga mga sundalo, mga komander, ug mga opisyal sa kampo sa hari sa Asiria. Busa mipauli si Haring Senakerib nga naulawan. Ug sa pagsulod niya sa templo sa iyang dios, gipatay siya sa pipila sa kaugalingon niyang mga anak pinaagi sa espada.
22Giluwas sa Ginoo si Hezekia ug ang katawhan sa Jerusalem gikan sa kamot ni Senakerib nga hari sa Asiria ug sa kamot sa uban pang mga kaaway, ug gihatagan niya silag kalinaw sa ilang palibot. 23Daghan ang nagdalag mga halad ngadto sa Jerusalem alang sa Ginoo. Nagdala usab silag mga mahalon nga mga gasa alang kang Haring Hezekia. Sukad niadto, gitahod na si Hezekia sa tanang nasod.
Ang Pagsakit ni Hezekia
(2 Hari 20:1-11; Isa. 38:1-8)
24Unya nagsakit ug grabe si Hezekia ug daw mamatay na siya. Nagaampo siya sa Ginoo, ug gitubag siya sa Ginoo pinaagi sa usa ka ilhanan. 25Apan nahimong mapasigarbohon si Hezekia ug wala niya hatagig bili ang kaayo nga gipakita sa Ginoo kaniya. Busa nasuko ang Ginoo kaniya ug sa mga katawhan sa Jerusalem ug sa ubang bahin sa Juda. 26Apan naghinulsol si Hezekia ug nagpaubos, ingon man ang katawhan sa Jerusalem. Busa wala ipatagamtam sa Ginoo ang iyang kasuko kanila samtang buhi pa si Hezekia.
27Nahimong hilabihan kaadunahan ug kabantugan si Hezekia. Nagpahimo siyag mga bodega alang sa iyang mga pilak, bulawan, mahalong mga bato, pahumot, taming, ug uban pang bililhon nga mga butang. 28Nagpahimo usab siyag mga bodega alang sa iyang mga abot nga trigo, bino, ug lana. Gawas pa niini, nagpahimo usab siyag mga toril alang sa iyang mga kahayopan, 29kay labihan gayod kadaghan ang iyang mga kahayopan. Nagpatukod usab siyag mga lungsod, tungod kay gihatagan siya sa Ginoo ug daghang katigayonan.
30Si Hezekia ang nagsugo nga sampongan ang agianan sa tubig sa ibabaw nga tuboran sa Gihon, ug gipadagayday kini ngadto sa kasadpang bahin sa Lungsod ni David. Nagmalampuson si Hezekia sa tanan nga iyang gihimo. 31Apan sa dihang miabot ang mga opisyal gikan sa Babilonia aron pagsusi bahin sa katingalahang mga panghitabo sa Juda, gipasagdan siya sa Dios, aron sulayan kon unsa gayod ang anaa sa iyang kasingkasing.
Ang Kataposan sa Paghari ni Hezekia
(2 Hari 20:20-21)
32Ang uban pang sugilanon mahitungod sa paghari ni Hezekia ug sa iyang gihimo ingon nga matinud-anon nga alagad sa Ginoo, nahisulat sa Panan-awon ni Propeta Isaias nga anak ni Amos, nga nalakip sa libro sa mga sugilanon bahin sa mga hari sa Juda ug Israel. 33Sa pagkamatay ni Hezekia, gilubong siya sa ibabaw nga bahin sa lubnganan sa mga kaliwat ni David. Gipasidunggan siya sa tanang katawhan sa Jerusalem ug sa ubang bahin sa Juda sa pagkamatay niya. Ang iyang anak nga si Manase mao ang mipuli kaniya ingon nga hari.
