1Now when all this was finished, all Israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah, and brake the images in pieces, and cut down the groves, and threw down the high places and the altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and Manasseh, until they had utterly destroyed them all. 2¶ And Hezekiah appointed the courses of the priests and the Levites after their courses, every man according to his service, the priests and Levites for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the tents of the LORD. 3He appointed also the king’s portion of his substance for the burnt offerings, to wit, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in the law of the LORD. 4Moreover he commanded the people that dwelt in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the law of the LORD.

20¶ And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah, and wrought that which was good and right and truth before the LORD his God. 21And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

ヒゼキヤの改革
1そののち、偶像礼拝打破の大がかりな運動が始まりました。過越の祭りを祝うためにエルサレムに集まった人々は、ユダ、ベニヤミン、エフライム、マナセの町々へ行き、偶像の祭壇、石の柱、恥ずべき像、その他の異教の施設を壊しました。そのあと、北の諸部族から祭りに来ていた人々は、それぞれの家へ帰って行きました。
2ヒゼキヤは、祭司とレビ人の組分けを決め、それぞれの奉仕に応じ、組ごとに、焼き尽くすいけにえと和解のいけにえとをささげさせ、感謝し、賛美しながら奉仕に当たらせました。 3またヒゼキヤは、律法に定められているとおり、朝ごと夕ごとにささげる焼き尽くすいけにえと、週ごとの安息日、月ごとの新月の祭り、年ごとの例祭にささげる焼き尽くすいけにえのために、自分の分は自身の私財から出しました。
4さらに王は、エルサレムの住民に、祭司とレビ人のところへ十分の一のささげ物を持って来るよう命じました。祭司とレビ人がほかの仕事に就く必要がなく、律法で命じられているように、その務めに専念できるようにするためでした。 5-6人々はすぐにその命令に応じ、作物や穀物、新しいぶどう酒、オリーブ油、金など、すべての収穫や収入の初物をたくさん持って来ました。山のように積まれたそれらは、律法によって神のものと定められた、自分が得たものの十分の一でした。北の諸部族の地方からユダに移って来た人も、エルサレムの近くに住む人も、牛や羊の十分の一と、彼らの神、主にささげられたものの十分の一を持って来て積み上げました。 7-8これらのささげ物が最初にエルサレムに到着したのは三月で、積み上げが完了したのは七月でした。王と高官たちは、ささげ物の巨大な山を見た時、どれほど主をほめたたえ、民を祝福したことでしょう。
9「この山のようなささげ物は、どこから与えられたのか。」王は祭司とレビ人に尋ねました。 10ツァドクの家の大祭司アザルヤが答えました。「みな十分の一のささげ物です。私たちはもう何週間も、ここから十分に頂いています。それでも、これだけ残っています。主がご自分の民を祝福してくださったからです。」
11ヒゼキヤ王が神殿に倉庫を用意することにしたので、 12-13ささげ物はすべて神殿に運び入れられました。運搬の責任者はレビ人カナヌヤで、兄弟シムイと次の人々が補佐しました。エヒエル、アザズヤ、ナハテ、アサエル、エリモテ、エホザバデ、エリエル、イスマクヤ、マハテ、ベナヤ。以上は、王と大祭司アザルヤに任命された人々です。
14-15東の門の門衛であったレビ人イムナの子コレは、ささげ物を祭司に分配する責任者になりました。彼を忠実に補佐したのがエデン、ミヌヤミン、ヨシュア、シェマヤ、アマルヤ、シェカヌヤで、彼らは、それぞれの町に住む祭司の家に、年齢の別なく等しく分配しました。 16ただし、神殿の務めに就いている祭司とその家族には、神殿から直接に支給されました。彼らはこの分配の対象ではなかったのです。 17-18祭司は氏族ごとに、二十歳以上のレビ人も各自の奉仕の組ごとに、系図に載せられていました。規定に従って割り当てられた食糧が、系図に載せられた祭司の全家族に分配されました。彼らは時間と能力をすべて神殿の奉仕にあてていたので、ほかの収入源が全くなかったのです。 19祭司が一人ずつ、それぞれの町の祭司全員と、系図に載せられているレビ人全員とに食糧を配る責任者に立てられました。
20このようにしてヒゼキヤ王は、主の前に正しく公平に、ユダ全国にささげ物を分配しました。 21王は、神殿に仕えることでも、律法を守って正しく生きることでも、心を尽くして励み、それを遂行しました。
