1And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded: 2And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.15.2 to meet…: Heb. before Asa 3Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law. 4But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them. 5And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries. 6And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.15.6 destroyed: Heb. beaten in pieces 7Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.
8And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the porch of the LORD.15.8 abominable…: Heb. abominations 9And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the LORD his God was with him. 10So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa. 11And they offered unto the LORD the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.15.11 the same…: Heb. in that day 12And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul; 13That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. 14And they sware unto the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets. 15And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about.
16¶ And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.15.16 mother: that is, grandmother15.16 idol: Heb. horror 17But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.
18¶ And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels. 19And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.

Ако га потражите, даће вам да га пронађете; ако га оставите, оставиће вас. 3Многе су своје дане Израиљци били без истинитог Бога, без свештеника који поучавају и без Закона. 4Али у невољи су се окренули Господу, Богу Израиља; тражили су га и дао им је да га пронађу. 5Баш у те дане није се мирно путовало, ни мирно живело, велика је пометња била над свим становницима земље. 6Један народ је сатирао други и један град је сатирао други, а Бог их је смео свим невољама. 7А ви, будите јаки и нека вам не клону руке јер постоји награда за ваша дела.“
8А када је Аса чуо Одидово пророштво, осоколио се и одстранио гадости из целе Јудине земље, из Венијамина и из свих градова које је освојио у Јефремовом горју. Обновио је и жртвеник Господњи који је стајао испред Господњег трема.
9Тада је окупио све од Јуде и Венијамина, и све који су од Израиља пребегли код Јефрема, Манасије и Симеуна. Било је то мноштво које је видело да је са њим Господ, Бог његов.
10Окупили су се у Јерусалиму трећег месеца петнаесте године Асине владавине. 11Тог дана су принели Господу на жртву нешто од плена који су понели: седам стотина волова и седам хиљада оваца. 12Заветовали су се да ће свим срцем и свом душом тражити Господа, Бога својих отаца, 13а да ће се погубити ко то не буде чинио, ко не буде тражио Господа, Бога Израиљевог: и младо и старо, и мушкарци и жене. 14И заклеше се Господу уз повике, клицања, трубе и овнујске рогове. 15Сва Јуда се радовала заклетви којом се од срца заклела. Радо су га потражили и он им је дао да га нађу, дао им је Господ мир са свих страна.
16Такође, Аса је своју мајку Маху уклонио с положаја царице мајке, јер је начинила одвратне Аштартине ступове. Аса је посекао ступове и спалио их у долини Кидрон. 17Но, иако није уклонио узвишице из Израиља, Асино срце је било у потпуности верно свег његовог живота. 18Он је донео у Божији Дом ствари које је његов отац посветио: сребро, злато и посуђе.
19Све до тридесет пете године Асине владавине није било рата.
