1And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. 2And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father’s house. 3Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. 4And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.
5¶ And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.18.5 behaved…: or, prospered

10¶ And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand. 11And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.
12¶ And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and was departed from Saul. 13Therefore Saul removed him from him, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people. 14And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him.18.14 behaved…: or, prospered 15Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him. 16But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them.
17¶ And Saul said to David, Behold my elder daughter Merab, her will I give thee to wife: only be thou valiant for me, and fight the LORD’s battles. For Saul said, Let not mine hand be upon him, but let the hand of the Philistines be upon him.18.17 valiant: Heb. a son of valour 18And David said unto Saul, Who am I? and what is my life, or my father’s family in Israel, that I should be son in law to the king? 19But it came to pass at the time when Merab Saul’s daughter should have been given to David, that she was given unto Adriel the Meholathite to wife. 20And Michal Saul’s daughter loved David: and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him.18.20 pleased him: Heb. was right in his eyes 21And Saul said, I will give him her, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. 22¶ And Saul commanded his servants, saying, Commune with David secretly, and say, Behold, the king hath delight in thee, and all his servants love thee: now therefore be the king’s son in law. 23And Saul’s servants spake those words in the ears of David. And David said, Seemeth it to you a light thing to be a king’s son in law, seeing that I am a poor man, and lightly esteemed? 24And the servants of Saul told him, saying, On this manner spake David.18.24 On…: Heb. 28¶ And Saul saw and knew that the LORD was with David, and that Michal Saul’s daughter loved him. 29And Saul was yet the more afraid of David; and Saul became David’s enemy continually. 30Then the princes of the Philistines went forth: and it came to pass, after they went forth, that David behaved himself more wisely than all the servants of Saul; so that his name was much set by.18.30 set by: Heb. precious

1ئەوە بوو کە داود لەگەڵ شاولدا لە قسەکردن بووەوە، ڕۆحی یۆناتان و ڕۆحی داود پەیمانێکیان بەست، یۆناتان داودی وەک خۆی خۆشویست. 2شاولیش لەو ڕۆژەوە داودی بردە لای خۆی و نەیهێشت بۆ ماڵی باوکی بگەڕێتەوە. 3یۆناتان لەگەڵ داود پەیمانی بەست، چونکە وەک خۆی خۆشیویست. 4ئینجا یۆناتان کەواکەی کە لەبەری بوو دایکەند و دای بە داود، لەگەڵ کراسەکەی کە پۆشیبووی، تەنانەت شمشێر و کەوان و کەمەربەندەکەشی.
5داود لە هەر ئەرکێک سەرکەوتوو دەبوو کە شاول بۆی دەنارد، لەبەر ئەوە شاول داودی بەسەر جەنگاوەرەکان دانا، ئەمەش لەلای هەموو سەرباز و ئەفسەرەکانی شاول پەسەند بوو.
6لە کاتی گەڕانەوەی جەنگاوەران بۆ ماڵەوە، پاش ئەوەی داود فەلەستییەکەی کوشت، ئافرەتان لە هەموو شارۆچکەکانی ئیسرائیلەوە بە گۆرانی و سەماوە بۆ پێشوازی شاولی پاشا هاتنە دەرەوە، بە گۆرانی شادی و دەف و عوودەوە. 7ژنە سەماکەرەکان بەدەم گۆرانییەوە دەیانگوت:
«شاول هەزارانی کوشت و
داودیش دەیان هەزار.»18:7 واتا ئەگەر شاول بە هەزارانی کوشتبێت، ئەوا داود دەیان هەزار دەکوژێت.
8ئەم قسەیە شاولی پەست کرد و زۆر تووڕە بوو و گوتی: «دەیان هەزارەکانیان دایە داود و بە منیش هەزارەکان، هەر ئەوە ماوە پاشایەتییەکە بۆ ئەو بێت.» 9ئیتر لەو ڕۆژەوە شاول چاوی لەسەر داود بوو.
10بۆ ڕۆژی دوای ئەوە ڕۆحێکی بەد لەلایەن خوداوە بە تواناوە هاتە سەر شاول، لە ناوەڕاستی ماڵەکەدا وڕێنەی دەکرد، داودیش وەک هەموو ڕۆژێک قیسارەکەی لێدەدا و شاولیش ڕمێکی بەدەستەوە بوو. 11شاول ڕمەکەی تێگرت و گوتی: «لە داود دەدەم و بە دیوارەکەوە هەڵیدەواسم.» بەڵام داود دوو جار خۆی لە ڕمەکە لادا.
12لەبەر ئەوەی یەزدان لەگەڵ داود بوو و وازی لە شاول هێنابوو، شاول لێی دەترسا. 13ئیتر شاول داودی لە خۆی دوورخستەوە و کردی بە سەرکردەی هەزار، ڕابەرایەتی سوپاکەی کرد. 14داود لە هەموو ئەرکەکانی سەرکەوتوو بوو، لەبەر ئەوەی یەزدانی لەگەڵدا بوو. 15جا کە شاول بینی زۆر سەرکەوتووە، لێی ترسا. 16بەڵام هەموو ئیسرائیل و یەهودا داودیان خۆشویست، چونکە لە شەڕ پێشڕەوی دەکردن.
17ئەوە بوو شاول بە داودی گوت: «من وا مێرەڤی کچە گەورەکەی خۆمت دەدەمێ ببێتە ژنت، تەنها ئەوەندەی کە ئازا بیت بۆم و لە جەنگەکانی یەزدان شەڕ بکەیت.» جا شاول لەبەر خۆیەوە گوتی: «با دەستی منی بەسەرەوە نەبێت، بەڵکو دەستی فەلەستییەکانی بەسەرەوە بێت.»
18داودیش بە شاولی گوت: «من کێم و ژیانی من و خێڵەکەی باوکم لە ئیسرائیلدا چییە هەتا ببمە زاوای پاشا؟» 19ئەوە بوو لەو کاتەی کە دەبووایە مێرەڤی کچی شاول بدرێتە داود، کەچی درایە عەدرئێلی مەحۆلاتی و بووە ژنی ئەو.
20بەڵام میخەلی کچی شاول داودی خۆشویست، جا بە شاولیان ڕاگەیاند، ئەویش ئەم کارەی بەلاوە باش بوو. 21شاول لە دڵی خۆیدا گوتی: «پێی دەدەم، جا بۆی دەبێت بە تەڵە، دەستی فەلەستییەکانی بەسەرەوە دەبێت.» ئینجا شاول بە داودی گوت: «ئێستا بۆ دووەم جار دەرفەتی ئەوەت هەیە کە ببیتە زاوام.»
22شاول فەرمانی بە خزمەتکارەکانی کرد: «بەدزییەوە قسە لەگەڵ داود بکەن و پێی بڵێن: ”ئەوەتا پاشا پێت دڵخۆشە و هەموو خزمەتکارەکانیشی تۆیان خۆشدەوێ، جا ئێستا ببە بە زاوای پاشا.“»
23خزمەتکارەکانی شاول ئەو قسانەیان بە داود گوت و داودیش پێی گوتن: «ئایا بوون بە زاوای پاشا بە کەم دەزانن، لە کاتێکدا من پیاوێکی هەژار و بێ بایەخم؟»
24ئینجا خزمەتکارەکانی شاول قسەکانی داودیان گەیاند. 25شاولیش گوتی: «ئاوا بە داود بڵێن: ”خۆشی پاشا لە شیربایی نییە، بەڵکو بە سەد پێستی سەری ئەندامی نێرینەی فەلەستییەکانە، بۆ تۆڵەسەندنەوە لە دوژمنەکانی پاشا.“» شاول بیری لەوە دەکردەوە کە داود بە دەستی فەلەستییەکان بکوژرێت.
26خزمەتکارەکانی ئەو قسانەیان بە داود ڕاگەیاند، داودیش ئەمەی پێ باش بوو کە ببێت بە زاوای پاشا. بۆیە پێش ئەوەی ماوەکە تەواو بێت، 27هەستا و لەگەڵ پیاوەکانی ڕۆیشتن، دوو سەد پیاویان لە فەلەستییەکان کوشت. داود پێستی سەری ئەندامە نێرینەکانی ئەوانی هێنا و ژمارەی تەواوی دایە پاشا، هەتا ببێتە زاوای. شاولیش میخەلی کچی دایێ هەتا ببێتە ژنی.
28جا شاول بینی و زانی یەزدان لەگەڵ داودە و میخەلی کچیشی خۆشی دەوێت. 29شاول زیاتر لە داود ترسا، ئیتر هەتا کۆتایی ژیانی دوژمنی داود بوو.
30فەرماندە فەلەستییەکان بەردەوام بۆ جەنگ دەچوون، هەر کاتێک دەچوون داود لە هەموو ئەفسەرەکانی شاول سەرکەوتووتر دەبوو، جا ناوبانگی زۆر بڵاو بووەوە.
