1And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel. 2And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel. 3And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?22.3 still…: Heb. silent from taking it 4And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramoth-gilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses. 5And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day. 6Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king. 7And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him? 8And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. 15¶ So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king. 16And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD? 17And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace. 18And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil? 19And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left. 20And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? 29So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead. 30And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. 37¶ So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.22.37 was brought: Heb. came 38And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the LORD which he spake. 39Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 40So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
41¶ And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel. 42Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi. 43And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places. 44And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel. 45Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 46And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land. 47There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king. 48Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Ezion-geber.22.48 made…: or, had ten ships 49Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.
50¶ And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.
51¶ Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel. 52And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin: 53For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
Micaías profetiza contra Acab
22:1-28 – 2Cr 18:1-27
1Durante tres años no hubo guerra entre Aram e Israel. 2Pero en el tercer año Josafat, rey de Judá, fue a ver al rey de Israel, 3el cual dijo a sus funcionarios: «¿No saben que Ramot de Galaad nos pertenece? ¡Y no hemos hecho nada para obligar al rey de Aram a que nos la devuelva!».

—Antes que nada, consultemos al Señor.
6Así que el rey de Israel reunió a los profetas, que eran unos cuatrocientos y les preguntó:
—¿Debo ir a la guerra contra Ramot de Galaad o no?
—Vaya usted —contestaron ellos—, porque el Señor la ha entregado en manos de Su Majestad.
7Pero Josafat inquirió:
—¿No hay aquí un profeta del Señor a quien podamos consultar?
8El rey de Israel respondió:
—Todavía hay alguien por medio de quien podemos consultar al Señor, pero me cae muy mal porque nunca me profetiza nada bueno; solo me anuncia desastres. Se trata de Micaías, hijo de Imlá.
—No digas eso —respondió Josafat.
9Entonces el rey de Israel llamó a uno de sus funcionarios y ordenó:
—¡Traigan de inmediato a Micaías, hijo de Imlá!
10El rey de Israel y Josafat, rey de Judá, vestidos con sus trajes reales y sentados en sus respectivos tronos, estaban en la plaza a la entrada de Samaria con todos los que profetizaban en su presencia. 11Sedequías, hijo de Quenaná, que se había hecho unos cuernos de hierro, anunció: «Así dice el Señor: “Con estos cuernos atacarás a los arameos hasta aniquilarlos”».
12Y los demás profetas vaticinaban lo mismo: «Ataque usted a Ramot de Galaad y vencerá, porque el Señor la entregará en manos de Su Majestad».
13Ahora bien, el mensajero que había ido a llamar a Micaías le advirtió:
—Mira, los demás profetas a una voz predicen el éxito del rey. Habla favorablemente, para que tu mensaje concuerde con el de ellos.
14Pero Micaías repuso:
—Tan cierto como que el Señor vive, anunciaré al rey lo que el Señor me diga.
15Cuando compareció ante el rey, este le preguntó:
—Micaías, ¿debemos ir a la guerra contra Ramot de Galaad o no?
—Ataque y vencerá —contestó él—, porque el Señor la ha entregado en manos de Su Majestad.
16El rey le reclamó:
—¿Cuántas veces debo hacerte jurar que no me digas nada más que la verdad en el nombre del Señor?
17Ante esto, Micaías concedió:
—Vi a todo Israel esparcido por las colinas como ovejas sin pastor. Y el Señor dijo: “Esta gente no tiene amo. ¡Que cada cual se vaya a su casa en paz!”.
18El rey de Israel dijo a Josafat:
—¿No te dije que jamás me profetiza nada bueno y que solo me anuncia desastres?
19Micaías prosiguió:
—Por lo tanto, oiga usted la palabra del Señor: Vi al Señor sentado en su trono con todo el ejército del cielo alrededor de él, a su derecha y a su izquierda. 20Y el Señor dijo: “¿Quién seducirá a Acab para que ataque a Ramot de Galaad y vaya a morir allí?”.
»Uno sugería una cosa y otro sugería otra. 21Por último, un espíritu se adelantó, se puso delante del Señor y dijo: “Yo lo seduciré”. “¿Por qué medios?”, preguntó el Señor.
22»Y aquel espíritu respondió: “Saldré y seré un espíritu mentiroso en la boca de todos sus profetas”. Entonces el Señor ordenó: “Ve y hazlo así, que tendrás éxito en seducirlo”.
23»Así que ahora el Señor ha puesto un espíritu mentiroso en la boca de todos estos profetas suyos. El Señor ha decretado para usted la calamidad».
24Al oír esto, Sedequías, hijo de Quenaná, se levantó y le dio una bofetada a Micaías.
—¿Por dónde se fue el espíritu22:24 espíritu. Alt. Espíritu. del Señor cuando salió de mí para hablarte? —preguntó.
25Micaías contestó:
—Lo sabrás el día en que andes de escondite en escondite.
26Entonces el rey de Israel ordenó:
—Tomen a Micaías y llévenselo a Amón, el gobernador de la ciudad, y a Joás, mi hijo. 27Díganles que ordeno que lo echen en la cárcel y solo le den pan y agua, hasta que yo regrese sin contratiempos.
28Micaías manifestó:
—Si regresas en paz, el Señor no ha hablado por medio de mí. ¡Tomen nota todos ustedes de lo que estoy diciendo!
Muerte de Acab en Ramot de Galaad
22:29-36 – 2Cr 18:28-34
29El rey de Israel y Josafat, rey de Judá, marcharon juntos contra Ramot de Galaad. 30Allí el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: «Yo entraré a la batalla disfrazado, pero tú te pondrás tu traje real». Así que el rey de Israel se disfrazó y entró al combate.
31Pero el rey de Aram había ordenado a sus treinta y dos comandantes de los carros de combate: «No luchen contra nadie, grande o pequeño, salvo contra el rey de Israel». 32Cuando los comandantes de los carros vieron a Josafat, pensaron: «Sin duda, este es el rey de Israel». Así que se volvieron para atacarlo; pero Josafat gritó. 33Entonces los comandantes de los carros vieron que no era el rey de Israel y dejaron de perseguirlo.
34Sin embargo, alguien disparó su arco al azar e hirió al rey de Israel entre las piezas de su armadura. El rey ordenó al que conducía su carro: «Da la vuelta y sácame del campo de batalla, pues me han herido». 35Todo el día arreció la batalla y al rey se le mantuvo de pie en su carro, frente a los arameos. Pero la sangre de su herida no dejaba de correr por el piso del carro; esa misma tarde Acab murió. 36Ya se ponía el sol cuando por todo el ejército se difundió un clamor: «Cada hombre a su ciudad. ¡Todo el mundo a su tierra!».
37Así que el rey murió y fue llevado a Samaria donde lo sepultaron. 38Lavaron el carro en un estanque de Samaria, donde se bañaban las prostitutas, y los perros lamieron la sangre, tal como lo había declarado la palabra del Señor.
39Los demás acontecimientos del reinado de Acab, incluso todo lo que hizo, el palacio que construyó e incrustó de marfil y las ciudades que fortificó, están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel. 40Acab murió y su hijo Ocozías lo sucedió en el trono.
Josafat, rey de Judá
22:41-50 – 2Cr 20:31–21:1
41Josafat, hijo de Asá, comenzó a reinar en Judá en el cuarto año de Acab, rey de Israel. 42Josafat tenía treinta y cinco años cuando comenzó a reinar y reinó en Jerusalén veinticinco años. El nombre de su madre era Azuba, hija de Siljí. 43Siguió el buen ejemplo de su padre Asá y nunca se desvió de él, sino que hizo lo que agrada al Señor. Sin embargo, no se quitaron los altares paganos, de modo que el pueblo siguió ofreciendo allí sacrificios e incienso quemado. 44Josafat también vivió en paz con el rey de Israel.
45Los demás acontecimientos del reinado de Josafat, lo que llevó a cabo y sus proezas militares, están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá. 46Libró la tierra del resto de los hombres que practicaban la prostitución en los santuarios, los cuales se habían quedado allí incluso después del reinado de su padre Asá. 47En aquel tiempo no había rey en Edom, sino que gobernaba un regente.
48Por esos días Josafat construyó una flota mercante22:48 una flota mercante. Lit. unos barcos de Tarsis. para ir a Ofir por oro, pero nunca llegaron a zarpar, pues naufragaron en Ezión Guéber. 49Entonces Ocozías, hijo de Acab, dijo a Josafat: «Deja que mis hombres naveguen con tus hombres». Pero Josafat no se lo permitió.
50Josafat murió y fue sepultado con sus antepasados en la ciudad de su padre David; su hijo Jorán lo sucedió en el trono.
Ocozías, rey de Israel
51Ocozías, hijo de Acab, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Samaria en el año diecisiete de Josafat, rey de Judá, y reinó dos años en Israel. 52Pero hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, porque siguió el ejemplo de su padre y de su madre, y de Jeroboán, hijo de Nabat, que hizo pecar a Israel. 53Sirvió y adoró a Baal, y provocó a ira al Señor, Dios de Israel, tal como lo había hecho su padre.
