1Now the children of Israel after their number, to wit, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course were twenty and four thousand. 2Over the first course for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. 3Of the children of Perez was the chief of all the captains of the host for the first month. 4And over the course of the second month was Dodai an Ahohite, and of his course was Mikloth also the ruler: in his course likewise were twenty and four thousand.27.4 Dodai: also called, Dodo 5The third captain of the host for the third month was Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, a chief priest: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.27.5 chief…: or, principal officer 6This is that Benaiah, who was mighty among the thirty, and above the thirty: and in his course was Ammizabad his son. 7The fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. 8The fifth captain for the fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. 9The sixth captain for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. 10The seventh captain for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. 11The eighth captain for the eighth month was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. 12The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abi-ezer the Anetothite, of the Benjamites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. 13The tenth captain for the tenth month was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. 14The eleventh captain for the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. 15The twelfth captain for the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.27.15 Heldai: also called, Heled
16¶ Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: the ruler of the Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri: of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maachah: 17Of the Levites, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel: of the Aaronites, Zadok: 18Of Judah, Elihu, one of the brethren of David: of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael:27.18 Elihu: also called, Eliab 19Of Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah: of Naphtali, Jerimoth the son of Azriel: 20Of the children of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Azaziah: of the half tribe of Manasseh, Joel the son of Pedaiah: 21Of the half tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah: of Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner: 22Of Dan, Azareel the son of Jeroham. These were the princes of the tribes of Israel.
23¶ But David took not the number of them from twenty years old and under: because the LORD had said he would increase Israel like to the stars of the heavens. 24Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David.27.24 was: Heb. ascended

5A treia căpetenie militară, pentru luna a treia, era Benaia, fiul preotului Iehoiada. El era căpetenia cetei sale de douăzeci și patru de mii de oameni. 6Benaia acesta era unul dintre cei treizeci de viteji ai lui David și căpetenie a acestora. La conducerea cetei sale era fiul său Amizabad.
7Al patrulea, pentru luna a patra, era Asael, fratele lui Ioab, și după el Zebadia, fiul lui. Și ceata lui avea douăzeci și patru de mii de oameni.
8A cincea căpetenie, pentru luna a cincea, era izrahitul Șamhut, ceata lui având douăzeci și patru de mii de oameni.
9Al șaselea, pentru luna a șasea, era Ira, fiul lui Icheș din Tekoa, ceata lui având douăzeci și patru de mii de oameni.
10Al șaptelea, pentru luna a șaptea, era pelonitul Heleț, unul dintre urmașii lui Efraim, ceata lui având douăzeci și patru de mii de oameni.
11Al optulea, pentru luna a opta, era hușatitul Sibecai, dintre zerahiți, ceata lui având douăzeci și patru de mii de oameni.
12Al nouălea, pentru luna a noua, era anatotitul Abiezer, dintre beniamiți, ceata lui având douăzeci și patru de mii de oameni.
13Al zecelea, pentru luna a zecea, era netofatitul Maharai, dintre zerahiți, ceata lui având douăzeci și patru de mii de oameni.
14Al unsprezecelea, pentru luna a unsprezecea, era piratonitul Benaia, unul dintre urmașii lui Efraim, ceata lui având douăzeci și patru de mii de oameni.
15Al doisprezecelea, pentru luna a douăsprezecea, era netofatitul Heldai, un urmaș al lui Otniel, ceata lui având tot douăzeci și patru de mii de oameni.
Căpeteniile semințiilor lui Israel
16Căpeteniile semințiilor lui Israel erau următorii:
conducătorul rubeniților era Eliezer, fiul lui Zicri;
al simeoniților – Șefatia, fiul lui Maaca;
17al leviților – Hașabia, fiul lui Chemuel, iar al urmașilor lui Aaron – Țadok;
18al lui Iuda – Elihu, unul dintre frații lui David;
al lui Isahar – Omri, fiul lui Mihail;
19al lui Zabulon – Ișmaia, fiul lui Obadia;
al lui Neftali – Ierimot, fiul lui Azriel;
20al urmașilor lui Efraim – Osea, fiul lui Azazia;
al unei jumătăți din seminția lui Manase – Ioel, fiul lui Pedaia;
21al celeilalte jumătăți din seminția lui Manase, în Ghilad – Ido, fiul lui Zaharia;

22al lui Dan – Azarel, fiul lui Ieroham. Acestea au fost căpeteniile semințiilor lui Israel.
23David nu a inclus în numărul lor pe cei în vârstă de douăzeci de ani sau mai puțin, pentru că Domnul promisese că‑l va înmulți pe Israel ca stelele cerurilor. 24Ioab, fiul Țeruiei, începuse numărătoarea, dar nu a terminat‑o. Din cauza numărătorii izbucnise mânia împotriva lui Israel, iar rezultatul numărătorii nu a fost trecut în „Cronicile regelui David“.
Funcționarii regelui
25Azmavet, fiul lui Adiel, era responsabil de vistieriile regelui.
Ionatan, fiul lui Uzia, era responsabil de magaziile din țară, din cetăți, din sate și din turnuri.25 Sau: din fortificații.
26Ezri, fiul lui Chelub, era responsabil de cei ce se ocupau cu munca la câmp, care lucrau pământul.
27Șimei din Rama era responsabil de vii, iar Zabdi, șifmitul, – de cramele cu vin din vii.
28Ghederitul Baal-Hanan era responsabil de livezile de măslini și de sicomorii din zona deluroasă28 Ebr.: Șefelah, zona cu dealuri joase, piemontană, situată între centrul muntos al Canaanului și țărmul Mediteranei., iar Ioaș – de depozitele cu ulei.
29Șitrai din Șaron era responsabil de vitele care pășteau în Șaron, iar Șafat, fiul lui Adlai, – de vitele din văi.
30Ismaelitul Obil era responsabil de cămile, iar meronotitul Iehdeia de măgărițe.
31Hagritul Iaziz era responsabil de turme.
Toate acestea erau căpeteniile care aveau grijă de averea regelui David.
32Ionatan, unchiul lui David, era sfetnic, fiind om cu discernământ și scrib.
Iehiel, fiul lui Hacmoni, avea grijă de fiii regelui.
33Ahitofel era sfetnicul regelui; architul Hușai era prietenul regelui. 34După Ahitofel, au mai fost sfetnici: Iehoiada, fiul lui Benaia, și Abiatar. Ioab era conducătorul oștirii regelui.
