29¶ Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were for the outward business over Israel, for officers and judges. 30And of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brethren, men of valour, a thousand and seven hundred, were officers among them of Israel on this side Jordan westward in all the business of the LORD, and in the service of the king.26.30 officers…: Heb. over the charge 31Among the Hebronites was Jerijah the chief, even among the Hebronites, according to the generations of his fathers. 9Meshelemja hade söner och ättlingar, dugliga män, sammanlagt 18.
10Hosa, av Meraris släkt, hade söner, av vilka Shimri var överhuvud, fastän han inte var den förstfödde, men hans far hade gjort honom till överhuvud. 11Hilkia var den andre, Tevalja den tredje och Sakarja den fjärde. Hosas söner och släktingar var sammanlagt 13.
12Avdelningarna för dörrvaktarna, uppdelade efter deras huvudmän, hade, liksom deras släktingar, i uppgift att tjänstgöra i Herrens hus. 13De kastade lott om varje port, ung som gammal, familj för familj.
14Lotten för den östra porten föll på Shelemja. De kastade sedan lott för hans son Sakarja, en vis rådgivare, och lotten gav honom den norra porten.
15Oved-Edom fick den södra porten, och hans söner fick ansvaret för förrådsrummen. 16Den västra porten och Shalleketporten26:16 Denna port står inte omtalad någon annanstans, och det hebreiska ordets betydelse är okänd. vid övre vägen fick Shuppim och Hosa.
Vaktposter fanns på alla sidor: 17Dagligen sex leviter i öster, fyra i norr, fyra i söder och två vid förråden, 18vid tillbyggnaden26:18 Det hebreiska ordet Parbar kan kanske också tolkas som ett namn. Det förekommer endast här och betydelsen är osäker. i väster fyra på vägen och två vid själva tillbyggnaden.

Den masoretiska texten är svårförståelig: leviterna, Achia…, men även där kan Achia härledas från ett ord som betyder bror., ansvarade för skattkammaren i Guds hus och förråden för det som blivit helgat. 21Ladans ättlingar, Gershons släkt genom Ladan, som var familjeöverhuvuden för gersoniten Ladan, var Jechiel, 22dvs. Jechiels ättlingar, Setam och hans bror Joel. De hade ansvaret för skatterna i Herrens hus.
23Från Amrams, Jishars, Hebrons och Ussiels släkter 24var Shuvael, son till Gersom och sonson till Mose, överuppsyningsman över skatterna. 25Hans släktingar genom Elieser var dennes son Rechavja, hans son Jesaja, hans son Joram, hans son Sikri och hans son Shelomot. 26Denne Shelomot och hans bröder ansvarade för förråden för det som helgats av kung David, av familjeöverhuvudena, av de högre och lägre officerarna och befälhavarna över hären. 27En del av krigsbytet helgade de till underhåll av Herrens hus. 28Shelomot och hans bröder var också ansvariga för allt det som helgats av siaren Samuel, av Saul, Kishs son, av Avner, Ners son, och av Joav, Serujas son. Alla de heliga gåvorna var överlämnade åt Shelomots och hans släktingars omsorg.
29Kenanja av Jishars släkt och hans söner tilldelades uppgifter utanför templet som tjänstemän och domare.
30Av Hebrons släkt utsågs Hashavja och 1 700 av hans släktingar från Hebron, alla dugliga män, att förvalta Israel på västra sidan av Jordan, till allt arbete åt Herren och till kungens tjänst. 31Enligt hebroniternas släktregister var Jeria deras överhuvud. I Davids fyrtionde regeringsår gjordes en genomgång av registren, och man fann dugliga män bland dem i Jaser i Gilead. 32Jeria hade 2 700 släktingar, dugliga män och familjeöverhuvuden, som kung David satte över Rubens och Gads stammar och den ena halvan av Manasses stam, för att sköta alla Guds och kungens angelägenheter.
