1And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel. 2And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beer-sheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it. 3And Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord’s servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel? 4Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.
5¶ And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword. 6But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the king’s word was abominable to Joab.
7And God was displeased with this thing; therefore he smote Israel.21.7 And…: Heb. And it was evil in the eyes of the LORD concerning this thing 8And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.
9¶ And the LORD spake unto Gad, David’s seer, saying, 10Go and tell David, saying, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.21.10 offer: Heb. stretch out 11So Gad came to David, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose thee21.11 Choose…: Heb. Take to thee 12Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me. 13And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.21.13 very great: or, very many
14¶ So the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men. 15And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.21.15 Ornan: also called, Araunah 16And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces. 17And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
18¶ Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. 19And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spake in the name of the LORD. 20And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.21.20 And Ornan…: or, When Ornan turned back and saw the angel, then he and his four sons with him hid themselves 21And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshingfloor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground. 22Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.21.22 Grant: Heb. Give 23And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all. 24And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost. 25So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight. 26And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering. 27And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof.
28¶ At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there. 29For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, were at that season in the high place at Gibeon. 30But David could not go before it to enquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the LORD.

Dayon magbalik kamo diri agod mahibaluan ko kon pila sila tanan.”
3Pero nagsabat si Joab, “Kabay pa nga padamuon sang Ginoo ang imo katawhan sing 100 ka pilo. Pero, Mahal nga Hari, ngaa nga gusto mo himuon ini nga butang? Indi bala nga mga sakop mo sila? Ti, ngaa dalahigon mo sila sa imo sala nga himuon?”
4Pero nag-insister gid si David, gani ginlibot ni Joab ang bug-os nga Israel, kag dayon nagbalik sa Jerusalem. 5Ginsugid niya kay David ang kadamuon sang mga lalaki nga makasarang magpakig-away: 1,100,000 sa Israel kag 470,000 sa Juda. 6Pero wala pag-ilakip ni Joab sa pag-isip ang tribo ni Levi kag ni Benjamin tungod kay naugot siya sa sugo sang hari. 7Wala man malipay ang Dios sa sining sugo ni David, gani ginsilutan niya ang Israel. 8Dayon nagsiling si David sa Dios, “Nakasala gid ako sa akon ginhimo. Gani nagapakitluoy ako sa imo, Ginoo, nga patawaron mo ako nga imo alagad sa akon sala, kay kabuangan gid ang akon ginhimo.”
9Nagsiling ang Ginoo kay Gad nga propeta ni David, 10“Magkadto ka kay David kag papilia siya kon sa diin sa tatlo ka silot ang gusto niya nga himuon ko sa iya.” 11Gani nagkadto si Gad kay David kag nagsiling sa iya, “Diin sa sini ang gusto mo: 12Tatlo ka tuig nga gutom, tatlo ka bulan nga pagpanglaglag sa inyo sang inyo mga kaaway, ukon tatlo ka adlaw nga kalalat-an halin sa Ginoo paagi sa pagpanghalit sang anghel sang Ginoo sa bug-os nga duta sang Israel. Magdesisyon ka kag pahibalua ako kon ano ang isabat ko sa Ginoo nga nagpadala sa akon.”
13Nagsabat si David kay Gad, “Nabudlayan gid ako magpili. Maayo pa nga ang Ginoo na lang ang magsilot sa akon sang sa mga tawo, kay maluluy-on gid ang Ginoo.” 14Gani nagpadala ang Ginoo sang kalalat-an sa Israel, kag 70,000 ka Israelinhon ang napatay. 15Dayon nagpadala ang Dios sang anghel sa paglaglag sang Jerusalem. Pero samtang ginalaglag sang anghel ang Jerusalem, nagbaylo ang hunahuna sang Ginoo sa pagsilot sa mga tawo. Gani nagsiling siya sa anghel nga nagapanglaglag sa mga tawo, “Tama na! Indi na sila pagsiluti.” Sadto nga tion didto nagatindog ang anghel sang Ginoo sa may linasan ni Arauna21:15 Arauna: ukon, Ornan. nga Jebusnon.
16Nagtangla si David kag nakita niya ang anghel sang Ginoo nga nagatindog sa kahanginan, sa tunga-tunga sang langit kag duta nga may ginauyatan nga espada nga nagatudlo sa Jerusalem. Dayon nagluhod si David kag ang mga manugdumala sang Israel, nga nagasuksok sang sako sa pagpakita sang ila pagpangasubo. 17Nagsiling si David sa Dios, “Ako ang nagsugo nga isensos ang mga tawo. Ako ang nakasala. Ini nga mga tawo mga inosente pareho sa mga karnero. Wala sila sang may nahimo nga sala. O Ginoo nga akon Dios, ako na lang kag ang akon pamilya ang siluti. Indi pagpaantusa ang imo katawhan sa sini nga kalalat-an.”
18Dayon ginsugo sang anghel sang Ginoo si Gad sa pagsiling kay David nga magtaklad siya sa linasan ni Arauna nga Jebusnon kag maghimo didto sang halaran para sa Ginoo. 19Gani nagtaklad si David suno sa ginsugo sang Ginoo paagi kay Gad.
20Sadto nga tion nagalinas si Arauna kag ang iya apat ka anak nga lalaki sang trigo. Kag sang makita nila ang anghel sang Ginoo, nagdalagan ang apat ka anak ni Arauna kag nagpanago. 21Dayon nakita ni Arauna nga nagapadulong si David. Gani naghalin siya sa linasan kag nagluhod sa atubangan ni David bilang pagtahod sa iya. 22Nagsiling si David sa iya, “Ibaligya sa akon ang imo linasan kay mapatindog ako sang halaran para sa Ginoo, agod mauntat na ang kalalat-an sa mga tawo. Bayaran ko ikaw kon pila gid ang iya bili.”
23Nagsiling si Arauna kay David, “Sige, kuhaa, Mahal nga Hari. Himua kon ano ang maayo sa imo. Hatagan ko pa ikaw sang baka para ihalad bilang halad nga ginasunog, mga tapi nga ginagamit sa paglinas para igatong, kag trigo para ihalad bilang halad nga regalo. Huo, ihatag ko ini tanan sa imo nga libre.”
24Pero nagsabat si Haring David kay Arauna, “Indi ko ini pagbatunon nga libre. Bayaran ko ikaw kon pila ang bili sini. Indi ko mahimo nga kuhaon lang ini sa imo kag ihalad sa Ginoo. Indi ako maghalad sang halad nga ginasunog nga wala sing bili sa akon.” 25Gani ginbayaran ni David si Arauna sang 600 ka bilog21:25 600 ka bilog: mga pito ka kilo. nga bulawan para sa sadto nga lugar. 26Dayon naghimo siya didto sang halaran para sa Ginoo kag naghalad sang mga halad nga ginasunog kag mga halad nga para sa maayo nga relasyon. Kag dayon nagpangamuyo siya. Ginsabat siya sang Ginoo paagi sa pagpadala sang kalayo halin sa langit sa pagsunog sang mga halad sa halaran. 27Dayon nagsiling ang Ginoo sa anghel nga ibalik niya ang iya espada sa tagub.
28Sang nakita ni David nga ginsabat sang Ginoo ang iya pangamuyo, naghalad pa gid siya sang mga halad didto sa linasan ni Arauna nga Jebusnon. 29Sadto nga tion, ang Tolda sang Ginoo kag ang halaran para sa mga halad nga ginasunog nga ginpahimo ni Moises sa kamingawan ara sa mataas nga lugar sa Gibeon. 30Pero indi magkadto didto si David sa pagpamangkot sa Dios, tungod nahadlok siya sa espada sang anghel sang Ginoo.
