1Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house. 2And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.
3¶ And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters.14.3 more: Heb. yet 4Now these are the names of his children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon, 5And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet, 6And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia, 7And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.14.7 Beeliada: also called, Eliada
8¶ And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them. 9And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. 10And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand. 11So they came up to Baal-perazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.14.11 Baal-perazim: that is, A place of breaches 12And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire. 13And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley. 14Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees. 15And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines. 16David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.14.16 Gibeon: also called, Geba 17And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.

(2 Sam. 5:11-16)

3Nangasawa pa ug dugang si David didto sa Jerusalem, ug midaghan usab ang iyang mga anak. 4Mao kini ang mga ngalan sa iyang mga anak nga lalaki nga natawo didto: si Shamua, Shobab, Natan, Solomon, 5Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, 6Noga, Nefeg, Jafia, 7Elishama, Beeliada,14:7 Beeliada: o, Eliada. ug Elifelet.
Gipildi ni David ang mga Filistihanon
(2 Sam. 5:17-25)
8Sa dihang nabalitaan sa mga Filistihanon nga si David ang gipili nga hari sa tibuok Israel, gitigom nila ang ilang tibuok kasundalohan aron sa pagdakop kaniya. Apan nabalitaan kadto ni David, ug milakaw siya sa pagtagbo kanila. 9Karon, gisulong sa mga Filistihanon ang Kapatagan sa Refaim. 10Busa nangutana si David sa Dios, “Sulongon ba namo ang mga Filistihanon? Itugyan mo ba sila kanamo?” Mitubag ang Ginoo kaniya, “Oo, lakaw kamo, kay itugyan ko sila kaninyo.” 11Busa miadto si David ug ang iyang mga tawo sa Baal Perazim, ug didto gipildi nila ang mga Filistihanon. Unya miingon si David, “Gigamit ako sa Dios sa paglaglag sa akong mga kaaway. Daw bul-og siya sa makusog nga baha nga mibanlas sa akong mga kaaway.” Mao kana ang hinungdan nga gitawag ang maong dapit ug Baal Perazim.14:11 Baal Perazim: Ang buot ipasabot, ang Ginoo nga mibanlas.
12Gibiyaan sa mga Filistihanon ang ilang mga dios didto, busa mimando si David nga pangsunogon kadto.
13Gisulong pag-usab sa mga Filistihanon ang Kapatagan sa Refaim. 14Busa nangutana pag-usab si David sa Dios, ug mitubag ang Dios kaniya, “Ayaw kamog diretso ug sulong kanila. Libot kamo ug didto ninyo sila atakiha atbang sa mga kahoy nga balsam. 15Inigkadungog ninyo sa kasaba nga daw pagmartsa sa mga sundalo ibabaw sa mga kahoy nga balsam, sulong dayon kamo kay mao kana ang timailhan nga nagauna na ako kaninyo sa pagsulong sa mga Filistihanon.” 16Busa gituman ni David ang gisugo sa Dios kaniya, ug gipamatay nila ang mga Filistihanon gikan sa Gibeon hangtod sa Gezer.
17Busa nabantog si David sa tanang dapit, ug gitugot sa Ginoo nga mahadlok kaniya ang tanang mga nasod.
