Довуд захватывает Иерусалим
(2 Цар. 5:6-10)
4Довуд и все исроильтяне пошли на Иерусалим (то есть Иевус). Иевусеи, жившие там, 5сказали Довуду:
– Ты не войдёшь сюда.
Но Довуд захватил крепость Сион, что ныне Город Довуда. 6Он сказал:
– Кто ударит по иевусеям первым, станет главой войска.
Первым поднялся Иоав, сын Церуи, и получил командование.
7Довуд обосновался в крепости, и потому она стала называться Городом Довуда. 8Он обстроил её кругом от Милло11:8 Милло – с языка оригинала переводится как «насыпь». Возможно, что это были какие-то городские укрепления. до окружной стены, а Иоав отстроил остальные части города. 9Довуд становился всё сильнее и сильнее, потому что с ним был Вечный, Повелитель Сил.
Прославленные воины Довуда
(2 Цар. 23:8-39)
10Вот вожди воинов Довуда, которые вместе со всем Исроилом своей силой поддержали Довуда в его царстве, чтобы воцарить его, как обещал Вечный. 11Вот список воинов Довуда.

12После него в числе Тройки воинов был Элеазар, сын ахохитянина Додая. 13Он был с Довудом в Пас-Даммиме, когда филистимляне собрались там для битвы. Там было поле, засеянное ячменём. Войско стало разбегаться перед филистимлянами, 14но эти воины встали посреди поля, защитили его и поразили филистимлян, и Вечный даровал им великую победу.
15Трое из Тридцатки вождей пришли к Довуду к скале у пещеры Адуллам, когда войско филистимлян стояло станом в долине Рефаим. 16В то время Довуд находился в укреплении, а войска филистимлян были в Вифлееме. 17Довуда томила жажда, и он сказал:
– О, если бы кто-нибудь принёс мне попить воды из колодца, что у ворот Вифлеема!
18Тогда те трое воинов пробились через филистимский стан, зачерпнули воды из колодца, что у ворот Вифлеема, и принесли Довуду. Но Довуд отказался пить и вылил воду как приношение Вечному.

И он не стал пить.
