神殿建築のための資材
1それから、ダビデ王は全会衆に語りました。「神が次のイスラエルの王にお選びになったわが子ソロモンは、まだ若く、経験も乏しいのに、非常に重要な仕事に取りかかろうとしている。ソロモンが建てる神殿は、ただの建物ではない。主のお住まいだ。 2私は、あらゆる手を打って建築資材を集めた。金、銀、青銅、鉄、木材は十分あり、そのほか、しまめのう、宝石、大理石も大量に用意した。 3それから、神殿が建つのを私がどれほど喜んでいるかというしるしに、私財を全部ささげる。それを、私がすでに集めた建築資材に加えてほしい。 4-5私がささげる分は、三千タラント（十・二トン）のオフィルの金と七千タラント（二十三･八トン）の純粋な銀で、神殿の壁にかぶせるためのものだ。これらの金銀は、そのほかにも、金製品や銀製品、技巧をこらした装飾用にも使われるだろう。さあ、私にならって、わが身と私財をすべて主にささげる者はいないか。」
6-7すると、一族の長、各部族の長、軍の司令官、行政官は、五千タラントの金、一万タラントの銀、青銅一万八千タラント、鉄十万タラントをささげると約束しました。 8また、大量の宝石がささげられましたが、宝石類は、ゲルションの子孫エヒエルの管理のもとで、神殿の宝物倉に保管されました。 9だれもが、こうした奉仕の機会を与えられたことを心から喜び、幸福感に満ちていました。ダビデ王も喜びのあまり、じっとしていることができませんでした。
10王は、そこに集まった全員の前で、はばかることなく主をたたえました。「先祖イスラエル（ヤコブ）の神、主よ。永遠に御名がほめたたえられるように！ 11偉大な力と栄光と勝利と威厳とはあなたのものです。天と地にあるすべてはあなたのものです。この国もあなたのものです。私たちは、万物を支配しておられるあなたをあがめます。 12人に富と誉れをお与えになるのはあなただけです。あなたは全人類の支配者、その御手には驚くべき力があります。思いのままに人を強くし、力をお与えになります。 13神よ、私たちはあなたに感謝し、栄光に輝く御名をたたえます。 14しかし、私と私の国民とは、いったい何者だというのでしょう。こんな、わずかばかりのものしかおささげできないのです。私たちが持っているものはすべてあなたが下さったもので、私たちはただ、それをお返ししているにすぎません。 15私たちは先祖同様、この地では寄留者です。また、私たちの地上の生涯は影のようなもので、やがて跡形もなく消え去ります。 16主よ、私たちが、きよい御名をとどめるために神殿を建てようと集めたものは、すべてあなたから出ているのです。 17神よ、あなたは正しい人をお喜びになります。そこで、人がはたして正しいかどうか試されるのです。私は、正しい動機で建築の準備を進めてきました。そして今、あなたの民が喜んで自発的に宝をささげるのを見ました。
18先祖アブラハム、イサク、イスラエルの神よ、私たちを、いつもあなたに従うようにしてください。あなたへの愛が片時も変わることのないようにしてください。 19わが子ソロモンに正しい心を与えて、どんな小さなことでもあなたに従うことを願い、私が用意したすべてのものを用いて、神殿を建て上げることを一心に求めるようにさせてください。」
20こう祈り終えると、王は全会衆に、「主をほめたたえよ！」と言いました。人々は、主と王の前にひざまずいて、主をたたえました。
21翌日、彼らは雄牛、雄羊、子羊を千頭ずつ、焼き尽くすいけにえとして主にささげました。また、イスラエル全国民に代わって、注ぎのぶどう酒をはじめ多くのいけにえをささげました。 22それから、喜びに胸を躍らさせながら主の前に祝宴を張り、大いに食べたり飲んだりしました。
そのあと、改めて主の前でダビデの子ソロモンに油を注ぎ、王としました。同時に、ツァドクにも油を注いで祭司としました。 23こうして、ソロモンは父ダビデの王座につき、大いに栄えたので、イスラエルのすべての民はソロモンに従うようになりました。 24各界の指導者、軍の将校、ダビデの子の兄弟全員がソロモン王に忠誠を誓いました。 25主は、全国民の人望が彼に集まるようにしたので、父ダビデ以上の財産と名誉を得るようになりました。
26-27ダビデは、王として四十年の間イスラエルを治めました。そのうち七年はヘブロンで、あとの三十三年はエルサレムで王座にありました。 28ダビデは年老い、財産と名誉に囲まれて死に、代わってその子ソロモンが治めるようになりました。 29ダビデ王の生涯のくわしいことは、『預言者サムエルの言行録』『預言者ナタンの言行録』『預言者ガドの言行録』などに載っています。 30これらの文書には、ダビデ王の政治や威力だけでなく、王とイスラエル、ならびに近隣諸国の王の身に起こったすべての出来事が記録されています。
1Furthermore David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the LORD God. 2Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance. 3Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, 4Even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses withal: 5The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers. 6¶ Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king’s work, offered willingly, 7And gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred thousand talents of iron. 8And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the house of the LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. 9Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.
10¶ Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever. 11Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. 12Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. 13Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name. 14But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.29.14 be able: Heb. retain, or, obtain strength29.14 of thine…: Heb. of thine hand 15For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.29.15 abiding: Heb. expectation 16O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own. 17I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. 20¶ And David said to all the congregation, Now bless the LORD your God. And all the congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped the LORD, and the king. 21And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings unto the LORD, on the morrow after that day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel: 22And did eat and drink before the LORD on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him unto the LORD to be the chief governor, and Zadok to be priest.
23Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him. 24And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.29.24 submitted…: Heb. gave the hand under Solomon 25And the LORD magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed upon him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.
26¶ Thus David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel. 27And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem. 28And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead. 29Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer,29.29 book: or, history: Heb. words 30With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
