神殿の警備に関する組み分け

1神殿警備に当たる門衛は、コラ氏族のアサフ組から選ばれました。コレの子メシェレムヤが隊長になり、 2-3その子たちが彼に仕えました。長男ゼカリヤ、次男エディアエル、三男ゼバデヤ、四男ヤテニエル、五男エラム、六男ヨハナン、七男エルエホエナイ。

4-5オベデ・エドムの次の子たちも、門衛に任じられました。長男シェマヤ、次男エホザバデ、三男ヨアフ、四男サカル、五男ネタヌエル、六男アミエル、七男イッサカル、八男ペウルタイ。神はオベデ・エドムに、このようにすぐれた息子たちを与え、大いに祝福しました。

6-7シェマヤの子オテニ、レファエル、オベデ、エルザバデはみな傑出した人々で、一族の中で有力な地位を占めました。彼らの兄弟エリフとセマクヤも有能な人物でした。

8オベデ・エドムの子ならびに孫は総勢六十二人に上り、みな傑出した人々で、それぞれの務めにまさに適任の人たちでした。 9メシェレムヤの子、兄弟合わせて十八人もすぐれた指導者でした。 10メラリのグループの一人ホサは、長男ではないシムリを長にしました。 11ホサのほかの子たちは次のとおり。第二がヒルキヤ、第三がテバルヤ、第四がゼカリヤ。ホサの子と兄弟は、合わせて十三人。

12神殿警備に当たる各組はそれぞれの指導者の名で呼ばれましたが、ほかのレビ人と同じように神殿での務めにもつきました。 13それぞれの門の割り当ては、氏族の評判には関係なく、くじで決められました。 14-15東の門を守るのはシェレムヤのグループ、北の門は、彼の子で知恵者と言われたゼカリヤ、南の門はオベデ・エドムのグループにくじが当たりました。オベデ・エドムの一族には、倉を守る任も与えられました。 16西の門と上り坂の道にあるシャレケテ門を守る務めは、シュピムとホサに当たりました。 17毎日、東の門に六人、北の門と南の門に四人ずつ、倉に二人の割で、警備隊員が配置されました。 18西の門には六人、つまり上り坂の道に四人、その近くの場所に二人が警備につきました。 19これに当たる者は、コラとメラリの二氏族から選ばれました。

宝物倉の管理

20-22アヒヤを指導者とするレビ人は、神殿の宝物倉に納められたささげ物の保管に当たりました。ゲルション氏族から出たラダンの一族に、エヒエルの二人の子ゼタムとヨエルがいました。 23-24ゲルショムの子で、モーセの孫に当たるシェブエルは宝物倉を管理する責任者でした。彼はまた、アムラム、イツハル、ヘブロン、ウジエルの名で呼ばれる各組の指導者でもありました。

25エリエゼルの子孫を順にたどると、レハブヤ、エシャヤ、ヨラム、ジクリ、シェロミテとなります。 26シェロミテとその兄弟たちは、ダビデや将軍など、民の指導者のささげ物を扱う役につきました。 27彼らは、神殿の維持のために戦利品を奉納していたのです。 28シェロミテとその兄弟たちには、預言者サムエル、キシュの子サウル、ネルの子アブネル、ツェルヤの子ヨアブ、そのほか要人からのささげ物を保管する責任がありました。

その他の任務

29イツハルの一族のケナヌヤとその子たちは、行政と裁判を担当しました。 30ヘブロンの一族から出たハシャブヤとその同族千七百人はみな秀でた人々で、ヨルダン川西方のイスラエル領の宗教行事と行政の責任を受け持ちました。 31-32エリヤを長とするヘブロン氏族の中で秀でた二千七百人は、ルベンとガドの二部族、そしてマナセの半部族の宗教行事および行政の指導に当たりました。彼らが家柄と能力を買われて責任ある務めに任じられたのは、ギルアデのヤゼルで、ダビデ王の治世第四十年のことでした。

1Concerning the divisions of the porters: Of the Korhites was Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.26.1 Meshelemiah: also called, Shelemiah26.1 Asaph: also called, Ebiasaph 2And the sons of Meshelemiah were, Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth, 3Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Elioenai the seventh. 4Moreover the sons of Obed-edom were, Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, and Sacar the fourth, and Nethaneel the fifth, 5Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth: for God blessed him.26.5 him: that is, Obed-edom 6Also unto Shemaiah his son were sons born, that ruled throughout the house of their father: for they were mighty men of valour. 7The sons of Shemaiah; Othni, and Rephael, and Obed, Elzabad, whose brethren were strong men, Elihu, and Semachiah. 8All these of the sons of Obed-edom: they and their sons and their brethren, able men for strength for the service, were threescore and two of Obed-edom. 9And Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, strong men, eighteen. 10Also Hosah, of the children of Merari, had sons; Simri the chief, (for though he was not the firstborn, yet his father made him the chief;) 11Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth: all the sons and brethren of Hosah were thirteen. 12Among these were the divisions of the porters, even among the chief men, having wards one against another, to minister in the house of the LORD.

29¶ Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were for the outward business over Israel, for officers and judges. 30And of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brethren, men of valour, a thousand and seven hundred, were officers among them of Israel on this side Jordan westward in all the business of the LORD, and in the service of the king.26.30 officers…: Heb. over the charge 31Among the Hebronites was Jerijah the chief, even among the Hebronites, according to the generations of his fathers.
