レビ人の組み分け
1すっかり年老いたダビデはソロモンに王位を譲り、 2その即位式にイスラエルのすべての政治的、宗教的指導者を召集しました。 3レビ族で三十歳以上の男の人数を数えたところ、その合計は三万八千でした。
4-5ダビデはこのように指示しました。「そのうち、二万四千人は神殿の仕事を監督しなさい。六千人は管理者と裁判官、四千人は門衛となり、あとの四千人は私の作った楽器で主を賛美しなさい。」
6ダビデは彼らを、レビの三人の息子の名にちなんで、ゲルションの組、ケハテの組、メラリの組に分けました。
7ゲルションの組は、さらに二人の子の名にちなんで、ラダンの班とシムイの班に分けられました。 8-9その班がまた、ラダンとシムイの子たちの名にちなんで、六つのグループに分けられました。ラダンの子は、指導者エヒエル、ゼタム、ヨエル。シムイの子はシェロミテ、ハジエル、ハラン。
10-11シムイの各氏族には、四人の子の名がつけられました。長はヤハテで、次がジザ。エウシュとベリアは子どもが少なかったので、合わせて一つの氏族を構成しました。
12ケハテの組は、その子の名にちなんで、アムラム、イツハル、ヘブロン、ウジエルの四つの班に分けられました。
13アムラムはアロンとモーセの父です。アロンとその子たちは、人々のささげ物を主に奉納する奉仕に取り分けられました。アロンはいつも主に仕え、御名によって人々を祝福したからです。
14-15神の人モーセについて言えば、その子ゲルショムとエリエゼルはレビ族に入れられました。 16ゲルショムの子たちの長はシェブエルです。 17エリエゼルのひとり息子のレハブヤは子どもが大ぜいいたので、氏族の長となりました。
18イツハルの子たちの長はシェロミテ。
19ヘブロンの子たちの長はエリヤ。第二はアマルヤ、第三はヤハジエル、第四はエカムアム。
20ウジエルの子らの長はミカで、第二はイシヤ。
21メラリの子はマフリとムシ。マフリの子はエルアザルとキシュ。 22エルアザルには息子がなく、娘たちが、いとこに当たるキシュの息子たちと結婚しました。 23ムシの子はマフリ、エデル、エレモテ。
24人口調査の時、二十歳以上のレビ人はみな、以上の氏族やその一族に組み入れられ、神殿の奉仕を割り当てられました。 25ダビデがこう言ったからです。「イスラエルの神、主は平和を与えてくださった。これからは、主はエルサレムにお住みになる。 26レビ人はもう、幕屋や礼拝の器具をいちいち運ばなくてもよい。」
27このレビ族の人口調査は、ダビデが死ぬ前に行った最後のものでした。 28レビ人の仕事は、神殿でいけにえをささげるアロンの子孫である祭司を補佐することでした。また、神殿の管理に当たり、きよめの儀式を行う手伝いもしました。 29供えのパン、穀物のささげ物用の小麦粉、それにオリーブ油で揚げたり、オリーブ油を混ぜ合わせたりした、パン種（イースト菌）を入れない薄焼きのパンなどを用意しました。また、すべての物の重さや大きさをはかり、 30毎日、朝と夕方には、主の前に立って感謝をささげ、賛美しました。 31さらに、焼き尽くすいけにえ、安息日のいけにえ、新月の祝いや各種の例祭用のいけにえも用意しました。そのときに応じて必要な数のレビ人がこれに当たりました。 32彼らは幕屋や神殿の管理を行い、求められることは何でも行って、祭司たちを助けました。
1So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

These were the chief of the fathers of Laadan. 10And the sons of Shimei were, Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. 12¶ The sons of Kohath; Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four. 13The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever. 14Now concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi. 15The sons of Moses were, Gershom, and Eliezer. 16Of the sons of Gershom, Shebuel was the chief.23.16 Shebuel: also called, Shubael 17And the sons of Eliezer were, Rehabiah the chief. 21¶ The sons of Merari; Mahli, and Mushi. The sons of Mahli; Eleazar, and Kish. 22And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them.23.22 brethren: or, kinsmen 23The sons of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.
24¶ These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from the age of twenty years and upward. 25For David said, The LORD God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:23.25 that…: or, and he dwelleth in Jerusalem, etc 26And also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof. 27For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above:23.27 numbered: Heb. number 28Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;23.28 their…: Heb. their station was at the hand of the sons of Aaron 29Both for the shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;23.29 pan: or, flat plate 30And to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at even; 31And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD: 32And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the LORD.
