美しの門で
1ある日の午後、ペテロとヨハネは宮へ出かけました。日課である午後三時の祈りをするためです。 2もうすぐ宮だという所で、生まれつき足の不自由な男が運ばれて来るのに出会いました。この男はいつも、宮の「美しの門」のそばに置いてもらい、宮に入る人たちから施しを受けていたのです。 3二人が前を通り過ぎようとすると男は、「だんな様。どうぞお恵みを」と施しを求めました。
4二人は立ち止まり、男をじっと見つめました。やがて、ペテロが口を開きました。「私たちをごらん。」
5彼は何かもらえるのだろうと思って、二人を見上げました。
6ところが、ペテロは全く意外なことを言ったのです。「あげようにも、お金は持っていないんだ。しかし、ほかのものをあげよう。ナザレのイエス・キリストの名によって命じる。さあ、立って歩きなさい。」
7-8そう言うなり、ペテロは手を貸して彼を立たせようとしました。すると男は、驚いたことに、足もくるぶしもたちまち強くなり、しっかりと立ち上がったのです。そして、すたすた歩き始めました。ペテロとヨハネが宮に入ると、彼は跳んだりはねたりして、神を賛美しながらついて来ました。
9中にいた人たちは、神を賛美しながら歩いている男を、じろじろながめました。どうしたことでしょう。 10いつも「美しの門」で見かける、足の悪い物ごいではありませんか。だれもかれもびっくりするばかりです。 11そうこうするうち、人々がいっせいに、三人のいる「ソロモンの廊」と呼ばれる回廊に押し寄せました。男はうれしくてたまらないのでしょう。ペテロとヨハネにまとわりついて離れません。この有様を目のあたりにした人々は、あまりのことに恐ろしくなりました。
12絶好の機会です。ペテロはすかさず話し始めました。「皆さん。どうして、そんなに驚くのですか？ なぜ、私たちが自分の力や信仰深さによって、この人を歩かせたかのように、私たちを見つめるのですか。 13この奇跡は、アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブの神様、つまり私たちの先祖の神様が、そのしもべイエスに栄光を与えるためになさったことです。その方を、あなたがたはピラトの面前で、はっきりと拒否しました。ピラトがあれほど釈放しようとしたにもかかわらず。 14このきよく正しい方を自由にしようと考えるどころか、反対に人殺しの男を釈放しろと要求したのです。 15こうして、とうとう、いのちの源である方を殺してしまいました。しかし神様は、この方を復活させてくださいました。ヨハネも私もこのことの証人です。あなたがたが処刑したあと、私たちは確かに、復活したこの方にお会いしたのです。
16この方、すなわちイエスのお名前の力で、この人は治ったのです。彼の足が以前どんな状態だったかは、ご存じのとおりです。神から与えられた、イエスの名を信じる信仰によって、彼は完全に治ったのです。
17愛する皆さん。あなたがたは何も知らなかったのでしょう。知らなかったからこそ、イエスをあんな目に会わせたのでしょう。それは、指導者たちにも言えることです。 18しかし神様は、実にこのことによって、メシヤは苦しめられるという預言を実現してくださったのです。 19ですから、すっかり心を入れ替えて、神に立ち返りなさい。そうすれば、神様は罪をきよめてくださいます。 20そして、すべてを新しくする恵みの時に、メシヤであるイエスを、もう一度遣わしてくださるのです。 21-22この方は昔からの預言どおり、すべての者が罪ののろいから救われる時まで、天にとどまっていなければなりません。ずっと昔、モーセは言いました。『神である主は、やがて、私と同じような預言者を起こされる。この方の語ることはすべて注意深く聞きなさい。 23この方に耳を傾けない者はだれでも、必ず滅ぼされる。』（申命18・15-19）
24サムエルをはじめ、それ以後の預言者たちも、現在起こっていることを預言しました。 25あなたがたは預言者たちの子孫でしょう。それなら、神様がアブラハムに与えた、『全世界はユダヤ民族によって祝福される』（創世22・18）という先祖への約束に、あなたがたも含まれているのです。 26神様はご自分の子であるイエスを復活させると、真っ先にあなたがたイスラエル人のもとに遣わされました。あなたがたを罪の生活から立ち返らせ、祝福なさるためです。」
1Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. 2And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; 3Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. 4And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. 5And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. 6Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. 7And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 8And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. 9And all the people saw him walking and praising God: 10And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him. 11And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering.
12¶ And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk? 13The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. 14But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; 15And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses. 16And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. 17And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers. 18But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
19¶ Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; 20And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: 21Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. 22For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. 23And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. 24Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. 25Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. 26Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.
