ヨブ 記 38:1-41

38

主のことば

1その時、神はつむじ風の中からヨブに答えました。

2「なぜおまえは、わたしの摂理を否定しようとして、

無知をさらけ出すのか。

3さあ、遠慮なく向かって来なさい。

これから幾つかの質問をするから、

答えてみなさい。

4わたしが地の土台をすえた時、

おまえはどこにいたか。

わかるなら言ってみよ。

5おまえは地の寸法がどのようにして決められ、

だれがその調査に当たったかを知っているか。

6-7その土台を支えるものが何か、

だれが隅の親石をすえたかを知っているか。

その時、明けの明星は声を合わせて歌い、

御使いたちは歓声を上げた。

8-9海が地の底から吹き出た時、

だれが、その境界線を決めたか。

だれが、雲と暗闇を海の着物とし、

10海岸線で区切って、それをせき止め、

11『ここまでだ。これ以上、来てはいけない。

おまえの高ぶる波はここで止まるのだ』と言ったか。

12おまえはただの一度でも、朝に姿を現せと命じ、

暁を東の空から昇らせたことがあるか。

13夜明けの光に、地上をくまなく照らして、

不法な夜の支配にとどめを刺せと命じたことがあるか。

14暁を赤く彩り、

15悪者の巣を乱し、振り上げられた腕を

とどめたことがあるか。

16おまえは海の源である泉を探り、

深海の底を歩いたことがあるか。

17-18死の門のありかを突き止めたことがあるか。

地の広さを見きわめたことがあるか。

知っているなら言ってみるがいい。

19光はどこから来るか。

どうしたらそこへ行き着けるか。

暗闇についてはどうか。それはどこから来るか。

20その境を見つけ、その源まで行くことができるか。

21おまえがこれらのものが造られる前に生まれ、

じゅうぶんな経験を積んでいるというのなら、

そんなことは、すべて知っているはずだ。

22-23おまえは、雪の倉に行ってみたことがあるか。

雹が造られ蓄えられる場所を見たことがあるか。

わたしはそれを、戦いの時に使おうと保管している。

24光の分岐点に通じる道はどこにあるか。

東風の故郷はどこか。

25-27大雨の水路として谷を掘ったのはだれか。

だれがいなずまの道を造り、砂漠に雨を降らせ、

乾ききった不毛の大地に水をじゅうぶん吸わせ、

やわらかい草を生えさせるのか。

28雨には父親があるか。露はどこから来るか。

29氷と霜の母親はだれか。

30水は姿を変え、石のように固い氷になるではないか。

31おまえは星を取り抑え、

オリオン座やスバル座を引き止めることができるか。

32四季の順序を正しく決め、

牡牛座のすべての星を

正しい軌道に導くことができるか。

33宇宙の法則に通じ、

天がどのような影響を地に及ぼすかを知っているか。

34おまえの叫び声を雲にまで届かせ、

そこから雨を降らすことができるか。

35いなずまを呼び寄せ、

意のままに雷を落とすことができるか。

36人に直観や本能を授けたのはだれか。

37-38雲を全部数えられるほど知恵のある者がいるか。

土地が乾ききって固まり、

ほこりだらけになるとき、

だれが天の水がめを傾けることができるか。

39-40子どものライオンがほら穴に伏し、

またジャングルの中に寝そべって食べ物を待つとき、

おまえは母親のライオンのように、

獲物に忍び寄ってしとめることができるか。

41からすの子がひもじさを訴えて巣の中で背伸びし、

神に鳴き叫ぶとき、親がらすに餌を与えるのはだれか。

1Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, 2Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? 3Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.38.3 answer…: Heb. make me know

12Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; 13That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?38.13 ends: Heb. wings 14It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment. 15And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken. 16Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth? 17Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death? 18Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all. 19Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof, 20That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?38.20 to the bound: or, at, etc 21Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great? 22Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail, 23Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war? 24By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?
