ユダ族の相続地
1くじによってユダ族に割り当てられた地は、その南の境界線が、エドムの北の境から始まってツィンの荒野を通り、ネゲブ地方の北端まででした。 2-4もっとくわしく記すと、この境界線は、塩の海（死海）の南の入り江から始まり、アクラビム丘陵地帯の南を走る道路に沿って、ツィンの荒野からカデシュ・バルネアの南にあるヘツロンに延び、さらにカルカとアツモンを通り、最後にエジプト川に出て、地中海に達します。
5東の境界線は、塩の海の西岸沿いにヨルダン川の河口までです。北の境界線は、ヨルダン川が塩の海に注ぐ河口の入り江から始まり、 6ベテ・ホグラとベテ・ハアラバの北方を経て、ルベンの子ボハンの石に至り、 7その地点からアコルの谷を通ってデビルに進みます。デビルでギルガル方面へ北西に曲がりますが、ギルガルはその谷の南斜面、アドミム一帯の反対側に当たります。ギルガルより先は、エン・シェメシュの泉とエン・ロゲルに進みます。 8さらにこの境界線は、その先ベン・ヒノムの谷を通り、エルサレムの町であるエブスの南側に沿って進み、それから西に向かい、ヒノムの谷とレファイムの谷の北端を見下ろす、山の頂に達します。 9続いて、その山頂からメ・ネフトアハの泉へ延び、さらにエフロン山の町々に達し、そこからキルヤテ・エアリムとも呼ばれるバアラの周辺を北に迂回します。 10-11続いて境界線は、バアラから西に回ってセイル山に至り、エアリム山の北斜面にあるケサロンの町を経て、ベテ・シェメシュに下ります。そこで再び北西に向きを変え、ティムナの南を通って、エクロンの北側にある山の斜面に出ます。そこで左に折れ、シカロンの南とバアラ山を通ります。そこから再び北に向かい、ヤブネエルを通って、最後は地中海に達するのです。
12地中海の海岸線が、ユダ族の西の境界線です。
13主はヨシュアに、ユダの領地の一部をエフネの子カレブに割り当てるよう指示しました。それでカレブは、アナクの父親にちなんだ名前の町キルヤテ・アルバ、すなわちヘブロンを与えられたのです。 14カレブは、アナクの三人の息子、シェシャイ、アヒマン、タルマイの子孫を追い払い、 15ついで、元はキルヤテ・セフェルといっていたデビルの住民と一戦を交えました。
16その時カレブは、「キルヤテ・セフェルを攻め取った者には、私の娘のアクサを妻として与えよう」と宣言しました。 17ケナズの子で、カレブの甥に当たるオテニエルがその町を征服したので、アクサはオテニエルの妻となりました。 18-19嫁入りの際、オテニエルは、結婚祝いに父親から畑をもらうようにアクサを説き伏せました。父親と話そうと、彼女がろばから降りたので、カレブは彼女に尋ねました。「どうした。私にしてやれることがあれば、何でも言いなさい。」
「お父さん、お祝いにもっと頂きたいものがあるの。ネゲブの土地を下さるのなら、そこは荒れ地ですから、泉も分けてほしいわ。」それでカレブは、アクサに上の泉と下の泉も与えることにしました。
20ユダ族に割り当てられた地は、次のとおり。 21-32ネゲブにあるエドムの国境に面したユダの町々、すなわち、カブツェエル、エデル、ヤグル、キナ、ディモナ、アデアダ、ケデシュ、ハツォル、イテナン、ジフ、テレム、ベアロテ、ハツォル・ハダタ、ケリヨテ・ヘツロンすなわちハツォル、アマム、シェマ、モラダ、ハツァル・ガダ、ヘシュモン、ベテ・ペレテ、ハツァル・シュアル、ベエル・シェバ、ビズヨテヤ、バアラ、イイム、エツェム、エルトラデ、ケシル、ホルマ、ツィケラグ、マデマナ、サヌサナ、レバオテ、シルヒム、アイン、リモン。全部で、二十九の町とそれに属する周辺の村々です。
33-36低地にあった次の町々も、ユダに与えられました。エシュタオル、ツォルア、アシュナ、ザノアハ、エン・ガニム、タプアハ、エナム、ヤルムテ、アドラム、ソコ、アゼカ、シャアライム、アディタイム、ゲデラ、ゲデロタイム。全部で、十四の町とそれに属する周辺の村々です。
37-44ユダ族は、このほか二十五の町と、それに属する村々も相続しました。すなわち、ツェナン、ハダシャ、ミグダル・ガド、ディルアン、ミツパ、ヨクテエル、ラキシュ、ボツカテ、エグロン、カボン、ラフマス、キテリシュ、ゲデロテ、ベテ・ダゴン、ナアマ、マケダ、リブナ、エテル、アシャン、エフタ、アシュナ、ネツィブ、ケイラ、アクジブ、マレシャ。
45ユダ族の領地は、エクロンの町々と村々の全部も含んでいました。 46その境界線はエクロンから地中海にまで達し、アシュドデの境界付近の町々と周辺の村々、 47アシュドデの町と周辺の村々、エジプト川に至るまでのガザと周辺の村々、さらに、南はエジプト川の河口から北はツロに至るまでの、地中海沿岸全域も含んでいました。
48-62ユダはさらに、山地の四十四の町と周辺の村々も相続しました。すなわち、シャミル、ヤティル、ソコ、ダナ、キルヤテ・サナすなわちデビル、アナブ、エシュテモア、アニム、ゴシェン、ホロン、ギロ、アラブ、ドマ、エシュアン、ヤニム、ベテ・タプアハ、アフェカ、フムタ、キルヤテ・アルバすなわちヘブロン、ツィオル、マオン、カルメル、ジフ、ユタ、イズレエル、ヨクデアム、ザノアハ、カイン、ギブア、ティムナ、ハルフル、ベテ・ツル、ゲドル、マアラテ、ベテ・アノテ、エルテコン、キルヤテ・バアルすなわちキルヤテ・エアリム、ラバ、ベテ・ハアラバ、ミディン、セカカ、ニブシャン、塩の町、エン・ゲディ。
63しかしユダ族は、エルサレムに住んでいたエブス人を追い出すことができませんでした。それでエブス人は、今もなおユダの人々とともに生活しています。
1This then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah by their families; even to the border of Edom the wilderness of Zin southward was the uttermost part of the south coast. 2And their south border was from the shore of the salt sea, from the bay that looketh southward:15.2 bay: Heb. tongue 3And it went out to the south side to Maaleh-acrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended up on the south side unto Kadesh-barnea, and passed along to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and fetched a compass to Karkaa:15.3 Maaleh-acrabbim: or, the going up to Acrabbim 4From thence it passed toward Azmon, and went out unto the river of Egypt; and the goings out of that coast were at the sea: this shall be your south coast. 5And the east border was the salt sea, even unto the end of Jordan. And their border in the north quarter was from the bay of the sea at the uttermost part of Jordan: 6And the border went up to Beth-hogla, and passed along by the north of Beth-arabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben: 7And the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is before the going up to Adummim, which is on the south side of the river: and the border passed toward the waters of En-shemesh, and the goings out thereof were at En-rogel: 8And the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom unto the south side of the Jebusite; the same is Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward: 9And the border was drawn from the top of the hill unto the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjath-jearim: 10And the border compassed from Baalah westward unto mount Seir, and passed along unto the side of mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed on to Timnah: 11And the border went out unto the side of Ekron northward: and the border was drawn to Shicron, and passed along to mount Baalah, and went out unto Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea. 12And the west border was to the great sea, and the coast thereof. This is the coast of the children of Judah round about according to their families.
13¶ And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron.15.13 the city…: or, Kirjath-arba 14And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak. 15And he went up thence to the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjath-sepher.
16¶ And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjath-sepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife. 17And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife. 18And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou? 19Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.
20This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families. 21And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the children of Judah toward the coast of Edom southward were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur, 22And Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah, 23And Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan, 24Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth, 25And Hazor, Hadattah, and Kerioth, and Hezron, which is Hazor, 26Amam, and Shema, and Moladah, 27And Hazar-gaddah, and Heshmon, and Beth-palet, 28And Hazar-shual, and Beer-sheba, and Bizjothjah, 29Baalah, and Iim, and Azem, 30And Eltolad, and Chesil, and Hormah, 31And Ziklag, and Madmannah, and Sansannah, 32And Lebaoth, and Shilhim, and Ain, and Rimmon: all the cities are twenty and nine, with their villages: 33And in the valley, Eshtaol, and Zoreah, and Ashnah, 34And Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam, 35Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah, 36And Sharaim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim; fourteen cities with their villages:15.36 and Gederothaim: or, or Gederothaim 37Zenan, and Hadashah, and Migdal-gad, 38And Dilean, and Mizpeh, and Joktheel, 39Lachish, and Bozkath, and Eglon, 40And Cabbon, and Lahmam, and Kithlish, 41And Gederoth, Beth-dagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah; sixteen cities with their villages: 42Libnah, and Ether, and Ashan, 43And Jiphtah, and Ashnah, and Nezib, 44And Keilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah; nine cities with their villages: 45Ekron, with her towns and her villages: 46From Ekron even unto the sea, all that lay near Ashdod, with their villages:15.46 near: Heb. by the place of 47Ashdod with her towns and her villages, Gaza with her towns and her villages, unto the river of Egypt, and the great sea, and the border thereof:
48¶ And in the mountains, Shamir, and Jattir, and Socoh, 49And Dannah, and Kirjath-sannah, which is Debir, 50And Anab, and Eshtemoh, and Anim, 51And Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh; eleven cities with their villages: 52Arab, and Dumah, and Eshean, 53And Janum, and Beth-tappuah, and Aphekah,15.53 Janum: or, Janus 54And Humtah, and Kirjath-arba, which is Hebron, and Zior; nine cities with their villages: 55Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, and Juttah, 56And Jezreel, and Jokdeam, and Zanoah, 57Cain, Gibeah, and Timnah; ten cities with their villages: 58Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor, 59And Maarath, and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon; six cities with their villages: 60Kirjath-baal, which is Kirjath-jearim, and Rabbah; two cities with their villages: 61In the wilderness, Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah, 62And Nibshan, and the city of Salt, and En-gedi; six cities with their villages.
63¶ As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out: but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.
