正義の若枝
1神は宣告します。「わたしは、民の羊飼いである指導者に災いを下す。彼らは、世話をしなければならない者を滅ぼし、散らしたからだ。 2おまえたちは、群れを安全に導くどころか、置き去りにし、滅びへと追いやった。わたしは、おまえたちが彼らに行った悪のために刑罰を下す。 3一方、群れの残りを、わたしが追いやった所から集め、元の牧場に連れ戻す。彼らは再び子を生んで増える。 4また彼らの上に、責任感の強い羊飼いを立てる。彼らは二度と怖がる必要はなく、四六時中、守られるようになる。
5-6やがて、わたしがダビデの王座に、
正義の若枝を置く時がくる。
彼は知恵と正義をもって治める王となり、
地上に正しさが行き渡るようにする。
『主は私たちの正義』が、彼の呼び名だ。
その時、ユダは救われ、
イスラエルは平和のうちに過ごす。
7その日、誓いを立てる時、人々は『イスラエルの民をエジプトから救い出した神は生きておられる』ではなく、 8『ユダヤ人を、追いやられた国々からイスラエルへ連れ戻した神は生きておられる』と言うようになる。」
うそを語る預言者
9うそで固めた偽預言者たちのことを考えると、
心が痛みます。
私は恐ろしくなって目を覚まし、
酔っぱらいのようにふらつきます。
彼らには、恐ろしい運命が待ちかまえているからです。
神は刑罰を下すと宣告なさいました。
10この国は姦淫する者で満ちているため、
神ののろいがかかっています。
地そのものが嘆き悲しみ、
牧草地は枯れています。
預言者たちは悪に走り、
不正を行うことに力を注いでいます。
11祭司も預言者同様、神を敬わない悪党ばかりです。
主は言います。
「わたしは神殿の中でさえ
卑劣なことが行われるのを見た。
12そのため、彼らの道は暗く、すべりやすくなる。
彼らは、暗い危険な小道に追い込まれて倒れる。
わたしは彼らに災いを下し、
時がきたら、罰金を必ず全額支払わせる。
13わたしは、サマリヤの預言者が
考えられないほど悪いことを知った。
彼らはバアルによって預言し、
わたしの民イスラエルを罪に引きずり込んだからだ。
14エルサレムの預言者はもっと悪い。
彼らのしていることは、目をそむけたくなるほどで、
姦淫を犯し、不正を愛している。
悪いことをしている者を罪から引き戻すどころか、
反対にほめ、励ましている。
この預言者たちは、ソドムやゴモラの住民のように、
徹底して堕落している。」
15そのため、天の軍勢の主は宣告します。
「わたしは彼らに苦い物を食べさせ、毒を飲ませる。
彼らがいたばかりに、
この国に悪がはびこるようになったからだ。」
16これがわたしの民への警告だと、
天の軍勢の主は告げます。
「むなしい希望を与える偽預言者の言うことを
聞いてはならない。
彼らは口から出まかせを言い、
わたしのために語ろうとしない。
17わたしを侮る反逆者たちに、
『何も心配することはない。何もかもうまくいく』
としきりに言う。
自分勝手な生活をしている者たちには、
『平安があるとの、神のことばがありました』
と言っている。
18だが、神のことばを聞けるほど近くにいる預言者を、
ただの一人でも挙げることができようか。
彼らのうちの一人でも、
神のことばを聞こうと努力しただろうか。
19このような悪者どもを吹き飛ばすために、
わたしは激しいつむじ風を送る。
20わたしの恐ろしい憤りは、
刑罰を余すところなく下すまでは終わらない。
後に、エルサレムが敵の手に落ちたとき、
おまえたちはわたしの言ったことを認めるようになる。
21わたしが遣わした覚えのない預言者が、
わたしのために語っていると言っている。
わたしは彼らに何も言わなかったのに、
自分たちの預言がわたしのものだと言いはる。
22もし彼らがわたしの預言者なら、
わたしの民を悪の道から立ち返らせようと
努力しただろうに。
23わたしはどこか一つの場所にだけいて、
彼のしていることが見えないような神だろうか。
24人はわたしから姿を隠せるだろうか。
わたしは、天にも地にも、どこにでもいるではないか。
25『ゆうべ、神からの夢を見た。その話を聞いてほしい』と、彼らは言う。こうして、わたしの名によってうそを並べるのだ。 26こんなことが、いつまで続くのか。もし彼らが『預言者』だと言うなら、彼らは偽預言者で、自分で考え出したことを語っているのだ。 27わたしが見せなかった夢を得々と説明して、バアルの偶像礼拝に転向していった先祖のように、わたしの民にわたしを忘れさせようとしている。 28こんな偽りの預言者は、夢物語にうつつを抜かしていればいい。だがわたしの本物の使者は、わたしのことばを余すところなく忠実に語る。両者には、麦ともみがらほどの差がある。 29わたしのことばは、火のように燃えないだろうか。それは、岩でさえ粉々に砕く巨大なハンマーではないか。 30-31わたしは、語ることを互いに教え合っている『預言者』どもに立ち向かう。舌先三寸の預言者どもは、『このことばは神からのものだ』と言う。 32彼らが知恵をしぼって考え出した夢は、わたしの民を罪へ誘い込む、まことしやかなうそで固まっている。わたしは彼らを遣わさなかったし、彼らには、わたしの民に告げることなど何もない。
偽りの預言
33民の一人、または『預言者』か祭司の一人が、『エレミヤよ。今日は神からどんな悲しいニュースを聞いたのか』と尋ねたら、こう答えなさい。『どんなニュースを聞きたいのか。おまえたち自身が悲しいニュースそのものではないか。神がおまえたちを捨てたのだから。』 34『今日の神からの悲しいニュース』などと悪ふざけをする偽預言者、祭司、民がいたら、わたしは彼らとその家族を罰する。
35『神はどんなことを語りましたか』と真剣に尋ね合うのはよい。 36だが、『神からの悲しいニュース』と言って悪ふざけをしてはならない。悲しいのは、おまえたち自身のこと、おまえたちが平気でうそをつくことにほかならないからだ。おまえたちはわたしのことばを曲げ、わたしが言いもしない『神のことば』を作り上げている。
37『神からどんなことばがありましたか。神は何と言われましたか』と、敬意を込めてエレミヤに尋ねるべきだ。 38-39だが、わたしの警告を無視して、『今日の神からの悲しいニュース』について聞こうとすれば、神であるわたしは、重荷となっているおまえたちを捨てる。おまえたちと、おまえたちの先祖に与えたこの町を、共にわたしの前から放り投げる。 40わたしはおまえたちの恥をさらすので、おまえたちの名はいつまでも不名誉なものとなる。」
1Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD. 2Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD. 3And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. 4And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.
5¶ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. 6In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.23.6 THE LORD…: Heb. Jehovah-tsidkenu 7Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; 8But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.

Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. 25I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. 26How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; 27Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal. 28The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.23.28 that hath a dream: Heb. with whom is, etc 29Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? 30Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour. 31Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith.23.31 that…: or, that smooth their tongues 32Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.
33¶ And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of the LORD? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the LORD. 34And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of the LORD, I will even punish that man and his house.23.34 punish: Heb. visit upon 35Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath the LORD answered? and, What hath the LORD spoken? 36And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man’s word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God. 37Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath the LORD answered thee? and, What hath the LORD spoken? 38But since ye say, The burden of the LORD; therefore thus saith the LORD; Because ye say this word, The burden of the LORD, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of the LORD; 39Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence: 40And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.
