イスラエルの山々の希望
1人の子よ、イスラエルの山々に預言せよ。この主のことばを聞け、と告げるのだ。 2あなたがたの敵はさんざんあざ笑い、昔からあなたがたのものであった高地を、自分たちのものだと主張している。 3そして、四方八方から攻撃してあなたがたを滅ぼし、多くの国々に奴隷として連れて行った。あなたがたはあざけられ、なぶりものにされている。」 4それゆえ、イスラエルの山々よ、神である主のことばを聞きなさい。主は、山や丘、谷や川、周囲の異教の国々にかすめ取られ、あざけられたまま荒れはてた農地、長い間見捨てられた町々に、こう語ります。 5「わたしの怒りは、これらの国々、特にエドムに対して燃えている。彼らはわたしを完全に無視し、楽しみながらわたしの国を横領し、自分たちのものにしたからだ。」 6それゆえ、イスラエルの山や丘、谷や川に預言せよ、と主は語ります。「あなたがたが周囲の国々に恥をかかされているので、わたしは大いに憤慨している。 7だから、手を高く上げて誓う。これらの国々が恥をさらす時が必ずくる。
8そしてイスラエルには、良い時代が戻ってくる。わたしの民が帰って来るためにくだものを豊かに実らせよう。わたしの民はもうすぐ祖国に帰って来る。 9さあ、わたしはあなたがたの味方としてあなたがたのところに行き、土地を耕させ、種をまかせる。 10わたしはイスラエルの人口を大いに増し加え、荒れはてた町々も再建して、人々で満たす。 11人だけではない。家畜も大いに増やそう。ああ、イスラエルの山々よ。そこにまた、家々がたくさん建ち並ぶ。以前にも勝って、あなたがたを栄えさせる。その時、あなたがたはわたしが主であることを知る。 12わたしの民はまた山々を歩き、そこを領土とする。もう二度と山々が、焼き尽くすいけにえとして子どもを偶像の祭壇にささげる場所となることはない。」
13神である主は語ります。「他の国々はあなたをあざ笑い、『イスラエルの山々は、その住民を食い尽くす地だ』と言っている。 14だが、もうそんなことは言わなくなる。」主がこう語るからです。「イスラエルの出生は増え、幼児の死亡は目に見えて少なくなる。 15二度と異教の国々に見くびられることはない。あなたはもう罪人の国ではないからだ。」
イスラエルの回復
16さらに私に、次のような主のことばが示されました。 17「人の子よ。イスラエルの民は、自分の国に住んでいた時、悪い行いで国を汚した。彼らの礼拝は、わたしから見ると、まるで汚いぼろ切れのように不潔だった。 18彼らは人殺しや偶像礼拝で国を堕落させた。それで私は怒って、 19彼らを厳しく罰した。彼らを多くの国々に追放し、その悪い生き方を厳しく罰したのだ。 20しかし国々の間に散らされた時、彼らはまたも私の聖なる名に泥を塗った。行った先の国々で『彼らは神の民だと言うが、その神がどうして彼らを災いから守ることができないのだ』とあざけられているからだ。 21彼らによってわたしの名がおとしめられていることに、わたしは心を痛めている。
22それゆえ、イスラエルの民に言え。」神である主はこう語ります。「わたしはあなたがたを祖国に連れ戻す。それだけの取り柄があなたがたにあるからではない。そうするのは、あなたがたが国々の間で傷つけた、わたしの評判を回復するためだ。 23あなたがたが汚したわたしの名を、もう一度あがめられるようにする。その時、国々はわたしが神であることを知る。あなたがたを捕囚の地から救い出す時、わたしは彼らの目の前であがめられる。 24わたしがあなたがたをイスラエルの地に連れ戻すからだ。
25その時、あなたがたは、きれいな水を浴びたようになり、汚れがすっかりきよめられ、偶像礼拝も行われなくなる。 26わたしはあなたがたに新しい心を与える。それで、あなたがたは正しい願いを抱くようになる。また、あなたがたに新しい霊を授ける。それで、石のように堅い罪の心が取り除かれて、愛に満ちた新しい心が生じる。 27わたしの御霊を授けるので、あなたがたはわたしのおきてを守り、わたしの命令に何でも従うようになる。
28そして、あなたがたは、わたしが先祖に与えたイスラエルの地に住み、あなたがたはわたしの民となり、わたしもあなたがたの神となる。 29わたしはあなたがたの罪を洗いきよめる。作物の不作やききんもなくなる。 30果樹園からも畑からもたくさんの収穫があるので、周囲の国々も、もう二度とイスラエルをききんのためにそしることはできない。 31その時、あなたがたは過去に犯した罪を思い出し、そんなことをした自分自身を嫌悪するようになる。 32しかし、このことだけはいつも心に刻んでおきなさい。こうするのは、あなたがたのためではなく、わたし自身のためなのだ。ああ、わたしの民イスラエルよ、あなたがたがしたすべてのことを、心の底から恥じよ。」
33神である主は語ります。「わたしは、あなたがたを罪からきよめる日に、祖国イスラエルに連れ戻し、廃墟と化した国を再建する。 34捕囚の間不毛の荒れ地のように放っておかれた農地は、再び耕される。その地の荒れはてた姿に、そこを通る者は大きな衝撃を受けた。 35だが、わたしがあなたがたを連れ帰る時、彼らは言うだろう。『神に見捨てられていた地がエデンの園のようになった。廃墟となった町々が再建され、城壁が築かれ、人があふれている。』 36その時、まだ残っていた周囲の国々は、廃墟を建て直し、荒れはてていた土地に豊かな作物を実らせたのは、主であるわたしだということを知る。神であるわたしが約束したからには、必ずそのとおりになるのだ。」
37-38神である主はこう語ります。「わたしは今、祝福を求めるイスラエルの祈りを聞き、その願いをかなえよう。彼らに祈らせなさい。わたしは、祭りの時エルサレムの通りを埋め尽くす羊の群れのように、彼らを増やそう。廃墟であった町々に再び人が満ちあふれる。その時、すべての者はわたしが主であることを知る。」
1Also, thou son of man, prophesy unto the mountains of Israel, and say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD: 2Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha, even the ancient high places are ours in possession: 3Therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue of the heathen, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and are an infamy of the people:36.3 Because: Heb. Because for because36.3 are…: or, ye are made to come up on the lip of the tongue 4Therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes, and to the cities that are forsaken, which became a prey and derision to the residue of the heathen that are round about;36.4 rivers: or, bottoms, or, dales 5Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all Idumea, which have appointed my land into their possession with the joy of all their heart, with despiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey. 6Prophesy therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my fury, because ye have borne the shame of the heathen: 7Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I have lifted up mine hand, Surely the heathen that are about you, they shall bear their shame.
8¶ But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people of Israel; for they are at hand to come. 9For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown: 10And I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of it: and the cities shall be inhabited, and the wastes shall be builded: 11And I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bring fruit: and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 12Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel; and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more henceforth bereave them of men. 13Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because they say unto you, Thou land devourest up men, and hast bereaved thy nations; 14Therefore thou shalt devour men no more, neither bereave thy nations any more, saith the Lord GOD.36.14 bereave: or, cause to fall 15Neither will I cause men to hear in thee the shame of the heathen any more, neither shalt thou bear the reproach of the people any more, neither shalt thou cause thy nations to fall any more, saith the Lord GOD.
16¶ Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 17Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman. 18Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it: 19And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them. 20And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of his land.
21¶ But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went. 22Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. 23And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.36.23 their: or, your 24For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
25¶ Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 26A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. 28And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. 29I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you. 30And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen. 31Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations. 32Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel. 33Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded. 34And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by. 35And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited. 36Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it. 37Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock. 38As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the LORD.36.38 holy…: Heb. flock of holy things
